hey, I'm resyncing my peercoin blockchain and I'm stuck at block 204712 (40 blocks behind atm) even though I'm connected to 8 peers.

why is this happening?

Please don't use v0.5.0ppc.rc1-beta on the active Peercoin network.  It is intended only for testnet at this time.

The current production release candidate is: Peercoin 0.4.1 RC1

Just learned about the exploit.   Is there anything I should be doing,  such as, removing my old client and downloading an update or anything?  What exactly was the problem and how might it affect me?  Is the problem totally resolved or might it have some residual consequences?  I looked at the peercoin website but couldn't find any information there....so any stuff will help!

The patch has been deployed in the latest releases.  If your client is still in sync you are probably OK, particularly if you're on 64-bit linux.  However, you should update to the latest version as soon as possible:

My wallet's synced but it does say that the checkpoint is too old.  It seems to be working fine other than the the checkpoint warning.  I have the peerunity client....so....

If you have a checkpoint warning, you definitely want to download a patched client.  The new client should be able to sync without re-downloading the entire blockchain.

Hello i am having a weird synching issue. i am stuck on block 204613. I tried deleting the entire .ppcoin folder besides wallet.dat and ppcoin.conf

however once again i am stuck on block 20413

Unfortunately, once you get the latest software, you may have to delete and re-download the blockchain a 3rd time but it should work well after that.

Yes, it's a little confusing but v0.5 is not a "production" release, it's only intended for testing right now.  A v0.5.0 rc2 should be out soon, but it too will only be for testing for now.
