Anyone interested in the ongoing U-19 world cup? We had an upset in the very first match. Afghanistan thrashed South Africa by 7 wickets, with 25 overs to spare. Afghan spinner Shafiqullah Ghafari destroyed the South Africa, by taking 6 wickets for 15 runs. I have a feeling that this is the way things will be in the future. South Africa is a declining team, and Afghanistan is one of the sides that are rapidly improving. The manner in which they annihilated South Africa means that in the future they will be one of the top cricketing sides.

That's a threat for South Africa cricket. Their current team isn't doing good. If the future one also same, I see some bad years for them in cricket.
Today, Bangladesh will play against Zimbabwe. In warm up Bangladesh had good performance against Australi but had a worst against NZ. I think they will win today.

I saw a glimpse of that match and Afghans literally destroyed South Africa. It looks like Afghanistan has been preparing all these years for the future. I am looking forward to India's match as they are the favorite ones to win. Its also a good thing for teams like Japan, Canada and Zimbabwe as these cricketers will get good experience.

The future of cricket is going to be firmly with the Asian teams. Apart from the test nations (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh & Afghanistan), a number of smaller sides (Nepal, Thailand, UAE, Oman.etc) have made good progress over the past few years. At the same time, the strength of teams from the other regions seems to be going down. This stands true for the test playing nations (South Africa, Ireland, Zimbabwe, West Indies.etc), as well as for the associate nations (Kenya, Canada, Bermuda.etc).

Both the teams winning a match, the third match has created big excitement among the cricket fans as it'll be very interesting to watch the winner of the series. Though the match is being played in India there is more winning chance for Australia. Likewise more ODI series has gone crashing the expectation of the fans going as an one sided match. Let this match doesn't go in such a way.

Australia started off badly losing Warner for 3 runs but are now steady with Smith and Labuschagne at the crease. Both players look good right now and will be looking to put on a big partnership. If Australia can get to 40 overs with these two at the crease then we should see Australia post 340+, India really need to get one of these batsman within the next 10 overs if they want to restrict Australia to around 300.

Today we have two matches from the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020. In the first match England will take on West Indies and in the second match Nigeria will be pitted against Australia (Nigeria is participating in the tournament for the first time). Yesterday both India and Pakistan won their matches. India won against a strong Sri Lanka side (half centuries to Priyam Garg and Yashasvi Jaiswal), while the Pakistan pacers routed a hapless Scotland (Mohammad Wasim 5/12).

Kinda derailing the thread but I was wondering if you guys know any resources ^{( free )} to catch up highlights of recent matches... There used to be CrickHDHighlights or something I don't remember it's domain tbh but their videos used to be taken down rather quickly... Any suggestions guys? Is there a reliable source out there for highlights?

Maxwell has played IPL in India for many seasons and he is used to the Indian conditions. On the other hand, Australia went with batsmen such as Alex Carey and Ashton Turner, who failed miserably. The Australian top order batsmen performed well, but the middle and lower order failed against the Indian bowlers. Also I expected Starc/Cummins to perform better.

Anyway Japan has a long way to go in cricket but they are playing their cards okay atm (considering Chinese not trying much)and hope they continue this for longer time at least for next decade or so.

Very poor performance from Japan. I was hoping that they would make at least 100. Anyway, I would be closely watching them for the remainder of the tournament. After the group stage, they will be playing a few matches in the plate league as well. BTW, I think that this is the first ever cricket match between India and Japan, at any level.

Glenn Maxwell is not in the Australian squad for a long time and he played an ODI against England on Jul 11, 2019 and how can a player not even considered in the team for a long time be included in the squad and expect to make a huge difference as Australia was playing good cricket in his absence for the past one year. Australia outclassed India in the first game but then India came back stronger in the next two games and won the series. It could have been an extended series with 5 ODI rather than 3 in my opinion as it was good competitive matches between the two.

Here I have to disagree with you. Glenn Maxwell has been in terrific form so far in this edition of the Big Bash League, for his franchise (Melbourne Stars). A few days back, he hit an 83 (from 45 balls) against the Melbourne Renegades, and the innings consisted of 7 sixes. He is the sort of player who can destroy the opposition singlehandedly. I would prefer him in the team over anyone else.

This time, he was auctioned for ₹107,500,000 ($1,500,000). I doubt whether he'll be getting anywhere near that amount playing for Australia.

IPL has grown larger than the sport of cricket. Players such as Maxwell and Cummins are earning from the IPL 5 times or 10 times of what their national boards would pay for an entire year. And that too for just two months of participation. IPL has become a lifeblood for the Australian and West Indian players. For the other teams, the exposure is lower.

Japan might be a small non experienced team but all out for 41, they took wickets early and continued to take wickets, they gave away 19 runs in extras. Dont know what to say about bowlers. I think we might see another world cup from Indians this year.

The win against a weak Japanese team counts for nothing. Some of the Indian bowlers improved their stats and other than that, this match was of zero significance. They won the first match against Sri Lanka, but even in that match they were facing weak opponents. I am just saying that it is too early to claim that India will win the tournament.
