LOL... you guys got it completely wrong about Rahul Dravid. He didn't represented the Scottish national side in any of the international matches. Back then, Scotland was given an opportunity to play in the county championship by the ECB, for a period of 3 years. They requested international players for help, as they couldn't afford the mandatory overseas player requirement for county championship. Dravid, being a big supporter of small teams like Scotland immediately agreed to play for them and the Scottish guys were surprised as well as overjoyed at the same time. As far as I know, Dravid refused to accept any payment in return, and was the "player-plus-coach" for the Scottish team for many months.

Yes you are right. Rahul Dravid never played of scotland in any international matches. He was always a gentleman in cricket and he represented scotland only in the counties which is not a international tournament.
But yes he helped and groomed many scotland players back then.

@Sithara007 knowing Dravid I’m not surprised that he refused any payment, because for him it’s always been about development of the team and player’s first. Lastly I don’t think that any player of his class would have worked for free, but then again he’s always been different and he has time and time again proved that he’s the true gentleman of Cricket.

There is news that BCCI raised 2 billion usd by adding 2 more franchise in IPL, such filthy rich board is not paying to coach of there national side? I mean we all must be realistic and shouldn't get over excited in praising someone to this extent. I am sure he must be getting decent pay for his services as BCCI is richest board.

You are confusing two things here. Rahul dravid will take the money as an Indian coach and he won't work for free. He is a professional and will take money for any service he does for the Indian team. but the above discussion was about the Rahul dravid playing for Scotland and in those days he did not take any fee. I hope this clears both statements.

This is interesting about Rahul Dravid and thanks for clarifying this issue. As a player his stats are phenomenal, in 286 test innings he has average of 52 and 318 ODI innings his average is 39. Lets see how he transfer his skills to Indian team who right now is struggling because of row b/w there ex captain and BCCI.

So year 2021 is going to end in few hours and we have done with one more cricketing year. Can you share what's your best cricketing moment in 2021? I start with mine, I liked T20 WC the most this year and Aussies play throughout the tournament. My cricketing moment was Australia winning the T20 WC for the first time.

Difficult to chose the best moment. I have two of them, and can't chose one. The first one was during the semi-final match in the T20 World Cup, when Matthew Wade destroyed Shaheen Shah Afridi. Second moment was during the third test match of the Ashes series, when the Australian pacers blew away England for a total of 68 runs in the second innings. There were a few others as well.. such as the spell from Kyle Jamieson during the WTC finals, then the 50-run partnership by Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah against England, and so on...

The T20 World Cup was a huge surprise as the favorites before the tournament did not reach the next round and no one expected Australia to win the tournament and yet they won the cup.

My favorite series were the Indian tour of Australia and after getting humiliated in the first match and even with the absence of Virat Kohli, India managed to win the series with a young team and no one expected that to happen and the Gabba fortress was history and then winning against England in England and the first match against South Africa.

Mine was the 24 Oct 2021 match between India and Pakistan where Pakistan completely outclassed Indian team. Though I placed bet on India, since they are unbeaten in ICC WC against Pakistan I lost the bet unfortunately. Batting of Babar and Rizwan was lovely to see. Hope we will see such matches more in 2022 also.

Without giving it a second thought my best moment(s) are Ashes. Before start of the series everyone was predictig an easy win for England but its Australia who tuned the table. If I have to specify a moment then its Scott Boland spell in third test that thrashed England batting line up. Its perhaps best spell I have seen so far.

Yeah.. no one really expected the Pakistani team to win the match in such one-sided manner, given the history of India vs Pakistan encounters in the ICC events. It was an utter humiliation for the Indian team and played a large part in the BCCI cutting down powers from Virat Kohli. Hopefully the change in captaincy and the relegation of Kohli would mean that the Indian team would perform better in the future ICC tournaments. BTW, when was the last time India won a ICC trophy? I don't even remember.

Yeah.. no one really expected the Pakistani team to win the match in such one-sided manner, given the history of India vs Pakistan encounters in the ICC events.
2013 is the year in which India won its trophy. The match between India and Pakistan ended with an unexpected result. That showed the world about the strength of Pakistan team. Dhoni being the captain to win all format champions trophy. Virat Kohli had more than 60% winning, but wasn't able to win champions trophy. The team is much dependent on Virat Kohli.

You got it right, that match was the primary reason why Kohli was removed from ODI and T20 captaincy, which IMO is not a good thing. It was Indian media pride that costed them the match. They were very less prepared for the match, since they were of the view that they have played IPL here so it will be an easy match for them.

I am still doubtful about Pakistan vs India game. India gave up without competing. The match is played in UAE which is known for his gambling market. Nobody was expecting such performance from both sides. Yes Dohni was the captain who won all titles under his captaincy. He is a legend player.

The T20 World Cup was a huge surprise as the favorites before the tournament did not reach the next round and no one expected Australia to win the tournament and yet they won the cup.

Australians before this T20 WC have not taken T20 seriously there main focus is ODI and Test. That's primary reason why nobody was expecting Australia to win this WC. I think Australians are going to become strong team as they were in 1999, 2003 and 2007.

Current Ashes was no doubt full of surprises. Nobody predicted that England will be bowled out like that in first three test matches. Now the point is whether or not Australia will be able to whitewash England or not? In my view England will defiantly come back stronger and avoid whitewash.

nothing going in England way. Ben stokes is complete failure so far. there new opener haseeb is a complete failure. If bowlers do some job English batsman completely ruin there efforts. Australia will easily made it 5-0 very easily, with current squad there is little chance for England to win any match.

I disagree with you on the captaincy of Kohli. It was a much needed step. Kohli brought in a lot of bias and nepotism, and even the coach was acting like his sidekick. The team selection was not fair (Ashiwn's case being the classic example). And the fact that India never won an ICC event under the leadership of Kohli speaks a lot. Winning useless bilateral tours is one thing, and lifting the trophy in ICC events is another. I don't think that Rohit or Rahul will be able to bring much change. I would rather have Shreyas or Rishabh as the captain.

If Rohit fails to perform as captain then who else will lead team in ODI and T20? If Rohit fails then Indian team may be in chaos. Right now Indian team is not in a position to win any ICC tournament. Players these days are selected based on there performance in T20 leagues and series, that's primary reason why Indian cricket is going down.
