Anyone followed the U19 world cup? Yesterday, there were two matches. Australia won the first match and defeated West Indies by 6 wickets. In the second match Scotland wasted an excellent chance to create an upset and in the end went down to Sri Lanka by 40 runs. At one point Sri Lanka were at 6/99, but then recovered to 218. And I have seen such incidents involving associate nations on many occasions. The lack of experience is the reason why these teams couldn't go on to win the matches, despite being in excellent situations to do so.

The best quote i heard so far was from Usman Khawaja, he wanted to tour Pakistan and to give back to the Cricket community as the people are desperate to see a match live in their home soil for a long time and hence he wanted to tour Pakistan and majority of the players are now siding with the fact that they do not have any issues with the tour and that is promising.

When boards do feel about security concerns, I guess no professional player will have different opinion than their boards. For example, Afghanistan players now may prefer to participate in all possible T20 events world wide rather than visiting their native places. Still, everyone will love to play one their own soil and cannot be an exception but they must need to bind within their board rather than having different opinion.

And even if he was one, he can only give suggestions to Cricket Australia in this matter. If the government agencies decide that Pakistan is not safe enough to travel, then CA is not going to get the clearance to do that no matter how hard they try. All that said, I would like to see SENA nations (and even India) touring Pakistan. The cricket fans in that country have been devoid of quality entertainment for quite some time.

@Sithara007 you’re absolutely correct his words carry very little value, and in the end Australian Government needs to give them the clearance, and I believe it won’t be an easy one so despite what’s being said, so we should be prepared for Australian B team or even cancellation of the tournament. Lastly India vs Pakistan won’t happen anytime soon, because of their political issues and that’s why I don’t see these two teams clashing with each other anytime soon.

Despite CA dodgy record in recent time, i'm hopeful that they would visit and keep their promise because they haven't tour anyone in last 3 years except England. Although if we look at their attitude towards last South African tour then things looks tough, they could even create covid situation drama along with security issue.

You ignored Babar Azam in your list of great players who participated in U19 WCs. Cricket has lost its charm due to T20 leagues primary because of IPL. U19 is the gateway to your international cricket career. I remember we use to watch U19 WC finals but nowadays no one is broadcasting these matches.

From what I heard, Star Sports will be broadcasting some of the matches in India. For other countries the broadcasters are - Sky Sports in New Zealand and United Kingdom, Gazi TV in Bangladesh, Ten Sports in Pakistan, Fox Sports in Australia and SuperSport in South Africa. But I have no idea about how many matches will be shown live. The interest has gone down considerably. Just one more week to go before the opening, and there is hardly any coverage in the mainstream media or in the sports channels.

Main reason is too much cricket. All year we have t20 leagues plus icc tournaments there is hardly any interest left in U19 and domestic cricket. Trend these days is try to make it to any T20 league and from there players are picked for national team that play test and odi.

By now everyone used to have the same mindset watching their own country's game. In group A it looks like England will top the table. In group B India seems to top the table. In group C Pakistan and in group D Sri Lanka/Australia looks like taking the top position. If this happens this way we can see Pakistan playing India by the month end which will be big talk for few weeks or till the tournament gets over.

We have to agree that good old days of odi and test cricket are numbered. The future of cricket is in shorter formet aka T20. Gone are the days when we had legendary bowlers like Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram, who could swing the ball by a great deal. And the same can be said about the current bunch of spin bowlers. No one can match the calibre of Shane Warne or Muttiah Muralitharan. Test cricket can be exciting, but on very rare occasions. On average, you need to spend days on end watching test cricket, in order to get one hour or so of quality play. And that is the reason why viewership figures for test cricket are on the decline. T20 has got what the fans need.

You got it right, real cricket is Test and somewhat ODI. But today's commercial era is fully controlled by advertising media who interest lies in T20 only. Real bowler is one who can find a wicket in Test but in T20 you can get wicket easily even on bad balls. Test series like Ashes are only given some importance rest are just formalities.
