Marcus Smart has found an economic agreement with the Boston Celtics to continue his adventure in Massachusetts. The guard has signed a four-year extension worth $77.1 million in total, a contract fully guaranteed for its entire duration. He'll stay in Boston along with stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to try to bring the Celtics back to the top of the Eastern Conference. IMO, his defensive approach and grit shown in NBA have made him one of the favorite players of Celtics fans who'll be happy to see him in green until 2026.

That's a good contract in my opinion, Marcus Smart was really very instrumental of Celtics success in the last 2-3 years, it's that he got injured as well that's why he can't perform 100%. But hopefully a healthy Smart then Tatum and Brown can carry the Celtics with the addition of Dennis and Kanter, Celtics looks solid again and for sure will be in the playoffs for contention. Last year was a so-so performance, although they made to the playoffs, they lost an didn't advance.

Facing the Nets with KD and Kyrie, that's really a tough job for them, But we've seen how Tatum matured and same with Giannis, each year/season that past for him creates him the competitiveness, They need someone who can dominate inside, a big man like AD that will really help them both from their offense and defense, Boston needs to free some cap for stars that have that same caliber.

JaVale McGee!!! https://www.nba.com/suns/suns-sign-javale-mcgeeSuns just recently signed him in their roster. It adds more energy in the bench. Also, we remember how the Suns were having troubles looking for a back-up for Ayton after Saric was injured. This could be their guy. 3-4 minutes for every quarter just to give Ayton the breather, protect the rim and try to not make any mistakes. 1-year, $5 million. Cool.

Steph Curry really changed the shooting in NBA. Even those big man follows him.
By saying these big men's I guess you mean "The Black Stephen Curry" isn't it? Well, I guess you do. Pun intended. But you know guys, Steph just improves his own since he can't do something inside. He thinks of a way how can help a team and that is by improving his three-point skills. And the result is great so he will continue doing that.
That's something his specialty I guess even in his high school highlights. From high school I guess he got still the same playing style but I think the way he gets into who he was today is his perseverance to become one of the greatest. No one can deny that he made his legacy already even he's still playing, those threes are just exhilarating.

Wow. $77 million and is not even branded as one of the great players in the league. It's like an appreciative contract because of his leadership whenever they play. For me, he is like the Draymond Green of the Celtics team. That's a good comparison, right? Both rely on hard work on the defensive side and it had been effective. This is a good deal and I think both ends win. Marcus Smart is happy and so are the Celtics fans and management.

Changing the league isn't his main purpose on why he shoot threes but it follows through it since his way of helping his team is thru three point shots because its obvious that a three is better than a two points. Lets face it. He changed the league in terms of shooting. We've seen many big players dominating the paint back in the days and a three point shot is rarely done unlike the current generation where there are teams who are shooting more threes than twos like the Rockets 2018-2019. Many people are doing what he is doing and even I myself is imitating his moves and even his three point shooting and even his stroke of shooting . That's how big the effect of what Curry has been done in the NBA and in the basketball world.

Yeah he is kind of a glue guy not so much the guy you are leaning on with 30 seconds left in the game. Salaries have gotten out of control in every sport. He definitely rely on his defense and grit like Draymond good comparison I never thought of smart like that.

He's the guy who acts like Draymond he keep pushing Tatum and Brown, he's not really that guy to contribute a lot but as a role player he's one of those who can provide for the team. They all good again, having back Halford and Canter, its not hard for them to jive since they already know each other, coach only needs to put .. Schroder and see if he's fit playing with the team.

If the Suns had signed him in the previous season, he would have been very useful to them in the final series, especially in defense against Giannis. However, it's worth noting that signing the contract with McGee isn't still enough for the Suns to be a contender for the title next season.

... off ball movement
Those who sets up the high screens that allowed Steph to make those shots deserves more credit than what we are giving and maybe to Steve Kerr. I thought he also influenced how screens are seen by the refs in today's game. A lot of them would have been deemed illegal in the 90s and in the previous decades.

Yeah, he could even played more minutes if coach Monty thinks he deserves it. And maybe not just to give Ayton breather, but share his experience and energy with the team specially young players and could give them pointers too.

That's all the Mcgee signing is. 10-15 minute breather for ayton and someone who could lessen the load during the season without giving up too much on the defensive side. These smaller moves are just as important as the bigger moves. You normally don't win a championship without a solid bench so not a bad pickup.

Tuesday October 19th! The start of the new season. Buck, Warriors, Nets, & Lakers all set to kick off the season with a bang on day 1. I know I can’t wait to see Carmelo and LeBron play together as well as seeing Steph and Klay together again. It will be a big day for sure. I can’t wait. Bitcoin should be creating some of it’s own excitement by then also on the way to $100K+.

The great stars are now getting 400+ million dollar salaries, on average players make about 40+ million dollars, Damians even have 50+ on his last year if I am not wrong. So, 77 million over 4 years is basically nothing. Of course it is still a lot of money for all of us, there are taxes and costs like agents and so forth which makes it more like 6 million a year for him at best, but that is still more money than most people will ever see in their lives. It is still not at a brand name level of payment though, very soon players at the top will start to make that yearly, let alone in 4 years. So long story short we have ourselves a role player money here, Marcus smart got money that he truly deserved, he was a 77 million in 4 years type of guy and he got that, every role player that is 6th or 7th man gets that kind of cash these days unless you are Nets and you are out of money after 3 stars .

IMO, the amount is small compared to what other players are getting, if Dennis Schröder did not accept the $80 million deal for the year number of years, I think Marcus Smart is worth more than Dennis Schröder's expectation of himself. Anyways, that's still big money though, he is happy playing with his current team, that's what matters most.

Yeah right, he values his role, and he's happy with that contract. When speaking, avoid contract Schroder is the first thing that comes to most of us, that deal from Lakers that he declined, And now, see what happened to him, force to accept smaller deal for a much shorter contract. The value of his game rely with how he will help Boston, if there's none for sure he will get lesser in the next following season. That's how the value of each player works.
Bring something to the team and the management will see your worth. Marcus Smart is not the type of player that scores much, he focuses on his defense although he is also a great shooter, his defense really has a big impact on the team, so for me, he deserved to sign with a bigger amount than the current amount he signed with the Celtics. However, I believe the team knows better, so we just have to respect what happens because it's already a done deal between two parties. His stats is just regular if you look at https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/smartma01.html

Jaylen Brown ( http://hoopshype.com/player/jaylen-brown/salary/) has a huge salary but I think his impact is not that much to the team, his consistency is not 100% unlike Marcus Smart. The only star player of the Celtics is Jayson Tatum and no doubt he deserve the salary he gets.

I think it's a fair offer from the Boston management, nothing fancy what he is worth that money for them. Not to compare on Dennis case though, he thinks he is worth more, but we all know that $80million is already too good a offer from Lakers. And it's good that Smart accepted it and wanted to remain a Celtics in the next coming years.
