One week and still nothing. Looks like another company just telling lies. There was a time ngzhang was a reliable source for good hardware. Too bad Ztex never entered the ASIC race... I guess he had good reasons.

They said it would take 2 weeks for their customers to have the units.
So, i will start calling them scammers in 20 days (20 of January + 20 days ~= 10 of February).

I will start planning for my own ASIC at the time. LOL.

In two weeks you send a packet from Switzerland to China and back to Switzerland. They have no tracking numbers because they never shipped. You always get the number the same day. Sometimes the info is not available but you get at least a number.

They said that they sent (2 pcs) on 20 January. They lied. Maybe they are not scammers but they are definitely liars (Like other ASIC companies ). Everything this is a game and the art of manipulation.

Yes, they don't have my money so i don't care.

I'm sorry in case you guys will lose something, but i warned you and said to sell your preorders (for like 5000$/unit) and i even betted against them shipping on the 20th. I tried to do my part. In case they can prove to have the ASICs working and shipping they will have my money on the second batch.

I don't understand why Avalon won't post (anonymized) tracking information. Like package shipped, left China, entered USA, at customs. The rest can be blurred out.

Guise, cool down a bit.  jgarzik may just be protecting his package by withholding information about the arrival date or tracking number.  He does post with his real name (right?) and maybe someone's dug up his address.  Imagine if he can't get the day off and DHL has to do the "stuff the box under the mat" trick with the ASIC delivery.  I can't blame him for wanting to protect his privacy.

(Frizz just posted above me - in case jgarzik's home address is known even anonymized information makes him still vulnerable to someone trying to intercept his box).

Do you have ANY proof ,that ANYONE here shows his real identity??? Cheesy Can you proof that Jgarzik even exist?

When somebody has NOTHING to keep secretly, he would definetly show MORE than ONE adress, or a name... since then almost nobody (who is or trying to sell asics) did it, think about it!

This only proofs that the whole stories of asics are completely only speculation! Like the stories from pirate and other shit speculation thingys! Its not a buyout, its an fraud dangered investment, where the asic sellers even themselves don't know whether they'll get asics or not!

Of course at least one or more persons that use the jgarzik account exist. How do you think posts from that account appear? By magic?

When he or they receive the Avalon unit and review it, there will be a post about it. So calm down.

Does anyone have direct contact with Avalon to ask a simple question: Why there are no tracking info?

Another undesirable question: why network hashrate does not grow?

I presume that the Chinese customs inspectors don't steal the ASICs and start mining with them, so that might be your explanation of why the hashrate isn't rising before the first customers have received their product.

I know that a new computer product coming into China gets inspected for CCC compliance, but I wonder to what degree they care about a new exported product. It is a sort of crypto brute forcing hardware though, so if any technology arouses suspicion on export, it would be this.

this machine will not get CCC compliance for it's not on sale in public, it'll be export as a product for academic research or just for some test, Chinese customs very busy, no Chinese will mark a machine as for decryption, that will guild much trouble to u. and that's just the way i sent package to my customers, of course not ASIC machine.
as i know,  DHL from China to USA is fast, to Europe is fast, even to Africa just need 3-5 days, EMS is slower, but 7 working days r enough to any country.  so...maybe the package is really shipped by a ship?

They have no tracking numbers because they never shipped. You always get the number the same day. Sometimes the info is not available but you get at least a number.

Actually that is not always the case, it depends on how they get the packages to DHL. In the example I quoted earlier, if you use an
HK forwarder and release the shippment from Hong Kong Port, then it's only once the packages are on the hands of DHL in HK that you can start tracking online (also depends on where you generate the paperwork before you even know the tracking number).

There are tons of things that can delay the white van driver to get to HK in the first place, customs would be one of them if the export papers are not in order.

Especially this being the first time they do such a shipment, there might be a bit of a learning curve and the pre-orders are the victim. Valuable time could get lost this way, but there is not much that can be done. I would also not start posting publicly about such a goof up, I'd try to fix things first...

I think there is a large culture difference between how US and Chinese companies handle their communications, either publish everything in the open with pictures and make loads of noise versus getting things done, ability and perseverance in the face of hardship.

It would be an interesting (if not disappointing) revelation if it turns out that the Chinese  government does indeed understand bitcoin and ASIC mining and decides that ASICS are prohibited for export. If you think about it- at this point of time unique possession of ASIC's and thus the lions share of HASH power for a cryptographic financial system, would  indeed constitute a type of national security- if not national resource. I think any government official aware of Bitcoin would come to this conclusion quite quickly. It's certainly in the Chinese interest to have Chinese citizens try and acquire as many bitcoins as possible.

Could it possibly be that they are unwilling to risk large numbers of ASIC devices and instead used Jeff and the Bitcoin foundations device as the pilot package to figure out where the troubles might be with customs?

If so, then they probably did ship the two packages but are waiting to see the results before risking the rest of the batch by putting it in transit through customs. Perhaps in the meantime they are building the other units and waiting for the results?

I think there is a large culture difference between how US and Chinese companies handle their communications...........................
So far as I know, BitSyncom is an American company.

Could it possibly........
There is no reason that Bitsyncom give not his own answers to these questions or give a little bit light in this cause!
