...
How does cgminer know how to use the asic?  It doesn't need any extra programming or drivers? (I'm honestly asking because I don't know. )
As I've stated before, Xiangfu wrote the Avalon driver module for cgminer.

It was interesting to see in the #btcfpga IRC channel, Luke-Jr saying he had images of the inside of the Avalon.

So any customers hoping to see them - I guess that a complete - "fuck you" from Avalon.
They don't give a shit ... ... ... or they still haven't got the software working and wanted Luke-Jr's help.
I wonder which it is?

Quote
looks like 5 rows of 16 ASIC chips per board, and 3 boards per Avalon
...
just looking at some pictures of the internals
...
16 long by 5 high, per board

So that's 250MH/s per chip to get 60GH/s ... though it was Luke-Jr so who knows how reliable that info is.

Slander, did not send Luke any photos, nor we asked him for help.
Well that's interesting coz that picture above (not my quote) shows 16 x 5 chips per board ...

Like I quoted a week ago ...

So the chips in the Avalon are a bit above 250MH/s each (as was suggested a week ago)

Would that be hard copy?

Edit: this picture (sorry it was in the other thread)

... so those pictures did exist a week ago just no one wanted anyone to see them ...

So how many people pre-ordered a batch #2 and probably loses their money?

Well you mean because of difficulty increasing enough to make the machines never break even or turn a profit long term?

It's not a scam. The fact that 2 or 3 exist is proof enough, if they can build a few they can build hundreds, or thousands. The chinese are masters of reproduction.
The real question is, is Avalon team financially sound enough to make it happen and turn a profit somehow to keep the investors and customers happy? If they wanted to run a full scam they wouldn't make batches, it would be open season and they'd just take orders they couldn't fullfill for months like BFL has done.

Right now they have a goose than can lay golden eggs, they just need to get them out the door faster. And they need to talk more. If it's one thing BFL does better its communication, even if its trolling and blowing smoke up peoples asses.

Nice! So if I create a working ASIC for myself and "promise" I'll make more to sell, you'll give me all your money?

I may give you some of my money, the amount of which depends on the availability of other evidence supporting your credibility. You don't have to be all in or all out, you know.

Go ahead and create a working ASIC, and then you can make a more or less compelling case that you are able to create more.

The fastest shipping should happen in china in the first place, since they do not need to clear custom, and the express delivery in land took maximum 3 working days to deliver an unit. But so far no one in china has provided any good evidence that they received an unit, only one advertisement-like claim but no enough details

It seems they do not communicate with their customers frankly, this could bring some problem for them later

There has been no significant increase in network hashrate over the past two weeks. Enough said.

There has been no significant increase in network hashrate over the past two weeks. Enough said.
Except that the diff change (that happened in the last 24 hours) was:
2968775.3320751 -> 3275464.5865656
i.e. +10.33%

So the total hash rate (probably) went up about 2.3TH/s averaged across the last 2 weeks

It rose to that in the second half of the 2016 block from well below +10%

So if the extra hardware was only hashing for half of the 2016 blocks, then the hash rate actually rose 4.6TH/s (but it didn't Tongue)

Anyway - it is all speculation, but indeed the network did go backup up 10% to approximately where is was 4 weeks ago - maybe even just due to the price rise in BTC: more people mining who had stopped?

Yes, but it's almost buried under noise floor. Once Avalon starts arriving to their customers, there will be no need for nitpicking - it will be more than obvious Smiley

The difficulty has been higher than this before, without the help of ASICs. It's probably mostly due to the rise in price motivating people to fire up GPU rigs again.
