some questions...
how much eth classic does DAO hacker have?
will eth classic move to POS as was planned with eth?
and if so doesn't that give dao hacker major portion of pos coins
and are implications of this already factored into price or is etc community planning to continue with pow
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Did anyone try to communicate with the attacker? I think it is a wise thing to do if you want stability and security for the original chain. He has a degree of power on the platform and it would be ideal if he comes out and communicates to the ETC supporters what are his motives and his plans.

Technically Bitcoin is a fork and Bitcoin Cash is the original blockchain. When the hard fork occurred, people had access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.- NIST

Right now its the most profitable Ethash to mine.

IF:
Your pool pays all your hashes.

(read the reports in this thread for stats on the pools, some shady things there... GO SUPRNOVA if poolmining, thats my suggestion.)

But there seems to be something weird in the blockchain... or its just lagging (attacks maybe?)

I experienced some ddos issues with some pools. Currently mining on https://ethc.coin-miners.info/ and the payouts are on schedule.

I am just wandering why more miners arent joining. Its not so difficult to find a good pool. Or go solo if you have a serious farm...

I've been using Mist on my Windows PC. I had one error, my balances weren't updating and I know epool pays so I restarted the wallet and had to wait for it to sync again. Took like 5 mins or so. My balances updated after sync. I don't know why my wallet stopped syncing, but it definitely could be an issue on my end. I think I need to replace an ethernet cable.

On the mining side it appears pools rushed to get something setup and there have been problems.  I am sure over time those issues will be sorted out, but it can make it tough to get on a pool that is consistent and paying.  Also I have seen a lot of DDOS on the pools affecting connectivity.  Kind of a rocky start.

It will just take some time for things to settle down is all.  We are seeing well known pools starting to offer ETC pools now so it is just a matter of time before we have options and things will be ironed out.

If you're an early adopter and willing to put up with some growing pains the water is fine.  If your adverse to the risk then hold off for a week or two and most of these issues will likely be addressed.

There are going to be some pull backs in price, buy the dips and make some money.  ETC is in this for the long haul. A year from now we will look back at these prices and say "Why didn't I buy a LOT more?".
