Im glad, that ETC(original blockchain) will continue in Geth (oppose-dao-fork).
I'm not sure, that ETH(hard-fork) is the right way.

I expect this is going to slowly die. It was interesting but without a competent dev team and projects being built on it whats the point?

In addition to what I posted above, a lot of folks seem to think because it's not 'fiat' currency, it's superior in some way. I'm beginning to question this assertion. Is there really any difference between 'virtual currencies' and paper 'fiat' currencies, as long as the 'decentralized cryptocurrencies' can be bought directly with fiat on any exchange anyway?? So, the assertion that cryptos are more 'the peoples money' is simply illusory. It is solidly connected to fiat currency at present...thus making it fundamentally as centralized as fiat itself...since there is a direct exchange system between the two...and cryptos do not have any more 'intrinsic' value than fiat (the faith we put in either one is essentially the same)...and determines their value as a medium of exchange...cryptos merely 'appear' different because they are in cyberspace. However, this amounts to little more than a Houdini like slight of hand making them appear 'safer' because 'authorities' can't reach them. But this is untrue. As long as fiat can directly 'buy into' cryptos, they are nothing more than the 'invisible man' of the financial system already in place (and subject to the same authorities via fiat 'buy ins')...just a mere switch from paper to 'electronic medium' changes nothing in any fundamental way.

Not really. The clue is in the name 'Fiat' .  It has value because Govts or Banks say it has to have.  Crypto only has the value assigned to it by the free market. Virtual currencies also have open-source verifyable limits on issue : Whether that is a hard limit or a % annual addition, it's the same effect. Fiat can buy-into Crypto only in very limited amounts before affacting the price.

Fiat has a high acceptance level through habit and long-time use..... Crypto could still be used as money without any exchange mechanism, but that is not going to happen very soon, and will only come with widespread adoption (IMO we are many years away from that).

I , like most ppl, treat Crypto as an interesting experiment rather than a true currency alternative at the moment, but that doesn't mean it's fundamental idea is wrong.

Atom plz remind us again why do you post here ?

I think we know that  Wink

However, his points are politely and cogently expressed, and provide good basis for argument.

there is no need for that type of talk.  Etc is not Eth.  Go post on a Eth thread if you want to use your foul mouth like that mybitcoin101.

We have supporters that are women and children too.  Unlike ETH we are not all under paid middle class males  trying to gamble out salary into a liverble income.  Im sure there is some dark coin that will love that talk but this is not it.

God morning people, Did we all sleep well?

Still having breakfast but looking at the charts, the price will drop today.  Good!  it looks like we are way over priced anyhow.  We are only less than a week past the fork.  I didn't think we would go past 3mɃ.  I would be happier with a good stable 3mɃ.  All this instabliaty is just a gamblers dream that the markets love.

Thank you to all who are still hashing.

Very good indeed! I read the article in full. I never stopped mining ETC...just had some serious questions (partly out of disgust at watching whales manipulate it like Pinocchio, and partly to flush out some folks who were serious about 'guiding' (not dictating) a vision of ETC. Well, Charles wrote eloquently on these points. After reading this thoughtful article, I feel once again this project and platform have real long-term merit, and that I ought to continue my little contribution mining. Thank you for posting! Now it's back to mining and supporting ETC as I always wished to do. Great to have some questions seriously viewed and responded to. Very much appreciated..now, on with the show...on with the fun! ETC once again is my coin/platform of choice (not that I'm so important...but maybe others with similar concerns will continue along as I will too). I encourage you all to do so! ETC>>>let's get it done!! Smiley

Its all about market depth people.  And to gain market depth we need to send out the correct messages.

That means we need value add!

I currently have a slack open with Krypton(KR)....    Just to see who they are and what they are about.

They look like they are active with 9.6GH/s
And currently, like us, they are profitable to mine.

Moreover: their slack channel is busier than this thread  Undecided

I want to build a platform you could let your kids or granny use.  I want to put it into schools and old folks homes.
We have 16 year old kid going to be locked up because thay have nothing constructive to do but hack

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3444363/British-15-year-old-boy-arrested-series-cyber-hacks-targeting-officials-including-CIA-chief-John-Brennan.html

They could be working for Classic and staying out of trouble.  Like money is... i want etc for everyone.
