Was there any progress in this area:

Byteball is centralized in 12 servers so it's extremely hard to take it seriously as more than an interesting experiment to see how it's version of DAG works out.

Do the devs still control the majority of the witnesses? Is it really 12 servers or it's 12 processes running on a single machine or maybe it's even 1 process on 1 machine that uses 12 identities?

You can help witness diversity by setting you home hub to byteball.fr/bb and allow "auto uptade witness from hub". This will add our witness to you wallet witness list.

If I will go from full to lite client will I lost my BB or not?

There is no way to to go directly from full to lite (or vice-versa), if you don't have blackbytes you could recover your bytes on your new wallet using the seed, otherwise you need to transfer your funds to your new wallet.

I know, the question was about the current state of things.

Must short GBYTE before the distribution and buy back 24h later  Grin

You would miss blackbytes distribution.

One can always buy blackbytes after the distribution ... Given the market price of blackbytes, it mainly comes down to speculating about bytes price going down and how much it will go down by ...

Apart from securing the network, what benefit does being a witness bring?

How long this free distribution will take place ? Is there any determined time frame when it will stop giving free tokens ? I see what i have got small numbers of bytes in last free distribution are not trade able and someone told me later once free distribution will end then a supporting platform will be launched for these.

Would I still receive extra coins if I do not link BTC wallet's address, but have some byteballs in my byteball wallet?
Little addition -to keep you (every Newbie) from anger and disappointment

1.To get new bytes, it is sufficient to hold bytes at an arbitrary BB address - nothing to do Smiley
2.To get also blackbytes, it is necessary that this BB-address is linked.

Linked means the address is known to the bot.
The bot knows an address, when the BB-address is linked to one or more Bitcoin address(es).
Whether the Bitcoin address is empty or contains a value does not matter.

Note "purchased bytes":
If someone buys bytes and never linked a BTC address, he will receive only new bytes!
It is not possible in this case to distribute blackbytes (private currency). According to point 2 you have to link the BB address to receive also Blackbytes.

Note "Address change"
Maybe you are an active trader, at each transaction the Bytes will jump around between the BB-addresses (same as in a BTC-wallet).

In this case, before the snapshot, you have to make sure that the BTCs (to receive Bytes) and the bytes
(to receive also Blackbytes) are consolidated on an arbitrary linked addresses.
Therefore, there is always the hint to chat with the bot just before the snapshot (to check the balance).

I beg your pardon but there is one point I don't fully understand:

<< The bot knows an address, when the BB-address is linked to one or more Bitcoin address(es). >>

How exactly does a BB-address get linked to one Bitcoin address? How would I know if it is linked and how would I link it?
Is there any advantage of having it linked to more than one bitcoin address?
Sorry for these questions but I've just discovered the world of Byteball and need time to metabolize it  Smiley

Thanks

None unless users "adopt" your witness

I was wondering why there aren't any exchanges where you could exchnage blackbytes. Does something technical stuff prevent them from doing so?

Yes, blackbytes is a highly anonymous asset and your wallets needs to be paired in order to transfer them.

Oh, so they will only be traded in the future directly P2P instead trough an exchange? Well I suppose that's what happens when you want high anonimity.

The red ones are linked addresses: you link addresses by chat with the bot

(i.e. possible configurations: one-to-one relationship, 1:n relationship, multiple one-to-one relationship)

Please read first OP:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1608859.0
(Participation in Byteball distribution)

After that you can use this Tutorial:
http://bitviser.info/

or this Tutorial:
http://dailybyteball.blogspot.de/2017/03/how-to-link-bitcoin-address-for.html
http://dailybyteball.blogspot.de/2017/03/how-to-sign-message-with-bitcoin.html
http://dailybyteball.blogspot.de/2017/03/how-to-sign-message-with-bitcoin_15.html

It's very simple, the bot tells you everything.

You will receive equal, it doesn't matter.
Light doesnt download all the data. Full stores all data localy on your harddrive.
