who is adding 30 Ph/s in-half a day???

No one. That's most likely good luck variance. It dropped back down right away. It happens often... look at the charts.

So they set up datacenters just to test 30PHs of mining gear? That's an awful lot of trouble and expense just to test and ship miners. I don't believe it for a second.

I hate these fuckers, if it wasn't for the Jupiter actually being shipped to customers as promised on time all these scam pre-order companies wouldn't have gotten the orders they did to cluster-fuck everybody. They're as much to blame for this shit as BFL.

Their warehouses  are their  testing areas.

You don't  understand  the pun.  As they build  the machines out and mine for  a bit before they sell  them to the public. Just like  every  other  asic manufacturer  has  done in the past. Even the first  ones like avalon..asm. bitfury. and bfl.

Well in KNC's case they have gone 1 step further to avoid refunds on the Neptune (and then a quick d/c of refunds for the Titan) they floated the idea that you would get a 'bonus neptune' to keep people from jumping ship last summer and refund....and the implied (not to be confused with) real arrival time of the units...(or instead of a free neppie ...if you chose the bonus Titan..which may be the better choice i will explain below)

imho they will ship the last physical miner Titan batch 2 (and or 3 or whatever prob lumped in with batch 2) and then to wrap up those who chose a Titan instead of a free neppie will be the last out the plant...and 1st to get a physical anything bonus in that they chose the Titan rather then a Neppie.....ie no physical units of any type close up shop ...fire all customer service reps and go to full arctic cloud and IPO investment mode...ie be moving along now ..hello Iceland...

then they will offer imho virtual neppie miner of 3TH for 6 months free as your free neppie (at this rate likely sometime in march) lump it or leave it..of course hoping they can
rope you in to buying more TH with this process...(hey we have already proved we are gullible look at it from KNC's point of view easy pickings)

if you chose a free Titan instead you MAY get that a month or even maybe 2 months early in that they have no virtual Titan equiv to stick you with..so at least it would be at the ass end
of the Titan batch of shipped to you (hey its something) a physical unit ...last in line but still ahead of any neppie i'd think you would get in that they say 'bonus miners' shipped after production runs are done ..but this is a guess

so as you can see they have been mining with your Neppies for the last 4 or 5  months by the time all is said and done and you get something
and instead as implied you getting the orig Neptune on time and perhaps your free
neppie in the fall ...you who did not refund neppies...got your neptune late and your free neppie in the spring of 2015..hell maybe even late spring

according to this article

http://www.economist.com/news/business/21638124-minting-digital-currency-has-become-big-ruthlessly-competitive-business-magic

notice the big PIC of knc's data hall

the pics "proportional' to the guy in the pic look like neppies to me ..(maybe not just saying) according to the article they have more then 45,000
of these cubes so do the math...yeah .....no way were they gonna send these out the door till they absolutely have to...but imho they never will....
the neppie bonus I still say will be either 1) virtual miner or 2) used cubes like they did with the frankenjupiter (that may be a stretch) they
will have closed shop on the physical consumer product site as soon as the last Titan hits the door imho and will likely dilly dally fessing up and giving
you even the free virtual stuff via some other stalls to boot (again a guess)

well played KNC.....well played indeed!

I wonder how BTC is gonna survive the PR disaster if Sam Cole gets what he wants with the solar chip plant and data halls and IPO plan and actually does
get at least 1/3 of the entire BTC network under KNC's farm.......sheesh........gives me the shudders just thinking about it.

then again I got a Titan so it is likely I am completely incorrect on all this (envision an announcement of the next big data hall project Titans)...who knows

just saying if you follow KNC and its wiggly ethics the above to me seems pretty damn likely

but then again WTF do I know....but that is what I'm going with as a guess at this time ...as usual hope I'm dead wrong and it all works out

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

Ok, that I understand and believe too... that manufacturers like Bitmain stock their datacenters with new miners and then sell them to the public after they've hashed most of the profit out of them.

But that doesn't account for large hashrate spikes that suddenly appear and then quickly disappear. No manufacturer is setting up massive datacenters just to test equipment for a few hours (hashrate spike) and then shut them done (hashrate dip). That's due to good luck variance on the network.

How does a entity go from we won't mine to...

Quote
A HUGE aircraft hangar in Boden, in northern Sweden, big enough to hold a dozen helicopters, is now packed with computers—45,000 of them, each with a whirring fan to stop it overheating.

I guess the same way an entity will declare in your face and on a many online sources that it'll use a testnet, only to find out ~$50M USD later that that wasn't the case, then call you a monumental asshole for questioning their practice.

I don't know what's worse: Sending your kids to a church where you don't know if they're safe, or belonging to a some Libertarian club where it's members daily compete as to whom's the better liar.

"We're goin' save the world from government interference, so enjoy the ass reamin' we're givin' you while we're doin' it."

BTW, there's three helicopter hangers, not just one. How does your ass feel now after almost 2,000 pages and over 1.6M views? And yes, BFL has their own little farms mining away, albeit under the auspices of Sonny's friends and family.

To anyone who wondered where the mega hashing of KNC is going on :

https://www.google.nl/maps/@65.8069164,21.687911,586m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Next to the hydro plant so they must have really cheap power.

If only we can get some thai cowboy miner engineering and light it up:

yep imho.....if i was in customer support on the web site and/or tech support or sales..I'd be making my resume right now
the whole consumer end of knc is now gonna go poof as soon as the last titan hits the world..run little rats run....

I wonder if we will ever see another update of firmware beyond 1.95 of any note on the Titan? From the Neptune experience it could end guickly.

again i must admit knc went from nun to porn star compared to how they acted and delivered last fall......they should make the asic TV
version of 'Breaking Bad" the bitcoin version ...similar theme...a soap opera indeed and it went 'so wrong so fast'

well played indeed. KNC ....(I was snookered)

edit: additonal info

well at least the guy posting fixes on github for Titan (last firmware upgrade of any type v1.95 on dec 9th)   https://github.com/KnCMiner/titan

KnC Titan users:

We suggest you to use #xnsub AND #skipcbcheck parameters to get stable mining on NiceHash or WestHash, example:

stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com/#xnsub#skipcbcheck

With those settings you'll be able to get a stable 350 Mh/s average speed with fw 1.95 overclocking at 325MHs.

Proof:

btw: average NiceHash/WestHash Scrypt profitability is aprox. 25% more then direct Litecoin mining.

I need to take part in page 2000 as well.. At one point I had over 30 Jupiters but I divested myself of KNC before the Neptune starting shipping and haven't had a KNC product since.. I still have a warm spot for them since I cut my teeth on the Jupiter and had a lot of fun with my custom firmware..

I guess I was one of the few that actually profited from KnC but I admit I never went farther than the Neptune.  It is sad that things turned out this way when selfish greed killed something good.
