KNC is a crap company with crap products, crap customer support and crap ethics. In summary, KNC is just a bunch of dodo fouling up the streets of Stockholm and the bitcoin world.

vs

BTW, anyone else notice how they put the component that reports the chip temperature at the very *edge* of the board

Derogatory comment with no supporting evidence !

Talk to you guys soon when Neptune ships ON TIME and OVER SPEC to see what kind of CYA excuses you are making for yourselves.

Still makes me chuckle - at least you've seen the light now - praise (bitcoin) jesus!  Grin

I'm not shy about admitting that I now understand what you folks were going through. Let me add though that you would have personally been a lot more convincing without the drama-queen and low-life rhetorical approach you adopted.

Just the facts and nothing but the facts would have brought a lot of us around to your point of view a lot sooner.

I am ok with myself when it comes to that. In the past the facts were pro KnC and I don't regret supporting them in their Jupiter days. A big red flag should have raised in anyone's eye when I had to wait 3 weeks in April to get my refund for my Batch 0 Neptune. There was clearly something fishy going on over there.

Welcome back Avenger. Will you vanish after KnC will fall?

FYI, Seen on IRC this evening:

Quote from: #kncminer on freenode
<flood> hno: are there any plans to get better performance on multipools ?
<hno> flood, 1.11 should do pretty well already I hope.
<Vibe> hno: only 280MH/s on 24h avg on clevermining
<Vibe> bfgminer keeps restarting..
<Luke-Jr> BFGMiner doesn't have multipool support until 4.99/5.0, and AFAIK no multipools are actually enabled yet
<hno> Vibe, bfgminer restarts on 1.11 for you?
<hno> if so then please file a bug report. https://github.com/KnCMiner/titan/issues is a reasonable place I think.
<hno> Luke-Jr, what do you mean by multipool, and what would you call the pools that dynamically switches which "coin" they mine?
<hno> Luke-Jr, are you maybe talking about multi-algorithm pools, and not just multi-coin pools of the same algorithm?
<Luke-Jr> hno: multiple blockchains within a single BFGMiner running instance
<Luke-Jr> pools that dynamically switch which "coin" they mine is not something that is supported by current versions
<Luke-Jr> and when/if it works, does so only by accident, and AFAIK never in balancing modes
<Luke-Jr> BFGMiner tracks the blockchain and will not mine on a block that is out-of-order

Now thats just untrue!

we were called liars, trolls, cry-babys, and god knows what else when we (at least I) were literally begging for support.

the now, in-line with reality crew were back then some of the biggest cunts i have ever had the misfortune of encountering online.

People forget due to ENDLESS wittering about NOTHING, that SOME PEOPLE here, spent MONTHS sucking KnCs ballsacks to the detriment of EVERYONE ELSE!!

so from the bottom of my heart - FUCK YOU ALL - you KNOW WHO YOU ARE (pretending to be today), - you cunts!

just in case the deluded want to act all, who? me?

Bitcoinorama/old dominiom - yes, fuck you!

PhonieX1969 - FUCK YOU sideways!

Searing the dim - Fuck you with a screwdriver!

...

aside from that i'll not be sending kennemar, cole or any of those sneaky fuckers any more financial lube so they can shaft us that much easier.

I went by KnC's offices this morning.  KnC claims that they have now issued refunds to all Jupiter customers who requested them.  I received my refund on the 17th of November in bitcoin, even though it was specifically acknowledged by KnC that my refund would be via wire transfer to USD at my bank.  Hopefully that will get sorted out.  I can vouch for their office setup at a minimum, they have multiple employees and appeared very busy handling support and development.  That being said, they still took six months to issue me a refund and didn't even issue it correctly... Feel free to PM me with questions.

Wait, what?! Refunds for Jupiter customers? Are you sure you're not thinking of another product named after some other celestial body?

From what I can find, the best rate you'll pay in Sweden for electricity is about 8 eurocents per kWh, which isn't very good. That's what large mines and data centres pay.

Quote
KnCMiner, based in Stockholm, operates about 7,000 machines. While the mining company’s electric bill in March came to $450,000, the computers mined 21,000 bitcoins, according to co-founder Sam Cole.
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2014-04-11/bitcoin-mining-boom-sputters-as-prospectors-see-real-cash-losses

21000x$600 = $12,600,000
$12,600,000 - $450,000 = $12,150,000
Do not, ever, in any way, feel sorry for these c@ck-suckers.

Well, according to organofcorti's blog KnC found about 12,000 bitcoins in March so unless they were hiding hashrate that 21000 doesn't seem right.

Regardless, according to ooc their average hashrate in March was ~3630TH/s. Say 1J/GH, and that's 2.7GWhr in March. $450,000/2.7GWh = $0.167/kWh. Obviously there's some pretty decent error bars there, but even if you said they had enough hashrate to mine (let's say 6500TH/s) BTC21000, that's $0.095/kWh.

Hydro666, which operates in the same place using the same hydro power, charges its customers $79 per kW per month. That works out to ~$0.11/KwH but is fully inclusive "Our pricing is fully inclusive (space, power, cooling, security, remote power reboot etc.)". And of course includes their profit margin. So its fair to assume KnC pays significantly less that than in electricity alone.

Id also assume KnC mines on different pools to reduce the variance.

Yeah, as I said pretty big error bars. There are lots of place that could be off, for instance if they're running much more than 1J/GH (and they very well might have been) that would lower the cost/kWh in the above as well. $450,000 might have also been $431,195 and got rounded up, or their billing cycle might have been March 6 to April 6 and that skews the power data.
Do you have a link for the Hydro666 offering? I can't find a website or really anything about them.

which is the best diff for titan?? Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I've been using 32768, which is the highest diff my pool allows.

It seems to make for about 10 share submissions per minute.

Whether that's the "best" setting or not I couldn't say.

Shish... Try 43 cents a Kilowatthour...  8 cents is friggin cheap compared to The Big I.
But now solar saved me. (Yep, Jupiter coin was spent to get it)
GoodBye 350 to 550 a month electric bills.
Wish Neppie or Titan could do the same but ever since they went corporate with Brock and other idiots the whole company went down the toilet.

ever since KnC turned up with BullShit promises, well thought-out lies & paid off shills the whole company has been a complete turd run by cunts and supported by our hard earned funds!

In fairness to the expletive above - solar is an awesome investment if you can get it priced right (and delivered)

I recall another poster discussing solar companies in the same way we discuss ASIC companies - full of deception, lies & false promises but he/she did eventually get what they were looking for.

I looked into solar here in South Texas where the sun shines almost all the time and my power bills are fucking insane. Mining + cooling is nuts. Yeah, scammish bullshit was all I got. It'd cost $50,000 to only save me $200-300 a month. They work their way into the subsidies and price it in such a way that you'd ROI in 10-15 years. Screw that. I looked at the parts they were going to use and labor and saw they were just ripping me off. Told them to f' off. I'll do it myself with some electrician help when they become more efficient. I need a system that can generate 5-10,000 watts in the summer.

Just a little update regarding my friend's company and their ongoing legal process to make KnC honour the cancellation and refund instruction they received when it was confirmed to him that there were a number of limitations on where these units could hash. He had emailed KnC to ask whether, along with the growing list of places it couldn't function properly, was it also incapable of mining on p2pool, with a reply from them confirming that it was currently unable to work with p2pool and was given a handy link to the announcement of pools where it could function.

This reads like a description of a device that is limited to where it can mine.

This reads like a description of a device that, contrary to KnC's claims, cannot actually be used "for all scrypt applications".

Strange how the sales description never mentioned that it was going to be limited to where it could mine and, in fact, says the exact opposite of such a thing, claiming it can be used "for all scrypt applications".

How does that work again?

It supposedly can be used for all scrypt applications, yet it can't actually be used for all scrypt applications and KnC have themselves confirmed that it can't be used for all scrypt applications prior to my friend's company cancelling their order.

KnC are instructed to cancel the order on the basis that the device cannot be used for all scrypt applications, something they have explicitly confirmed in their email stating that it couldn't be used for p2pool and directing the company to the announcement of confirmed pools where it did work properly, yet they are currently claiming that there is no fault in the product and they deny any responsibility for it not working for all scrypt applications?

The cognitive dissonance is strong at KnC.

So they repeatedly ignored the explicit cancellation, which was based on proven facts regarding an essential breach of contract, resulting in them eventually just shipping out these units against the company's instruction not to, while threatening the company that if they did not accept delivery, they would be liable for the additional shipping charges.

Their business practices are shameful, bullying people into taking delivery of a device that they have already admitted cannot actually mine on all scrypt networks.

I wait with baited breath to see how they intend to respond to the direct question from the Swedish laywer, "are you claiming this device will work for all scrypt applications".

Because, let's be honest, they are still claiming it on their sales page now.

Anyone fancy take a punt at what their reply might be?

lies, prevarications, artful dodges, false promises ?

followed eventually by an offer of a refund if you sign a non-disclosure preventing you from telling us all how you did it

LOL.

Oh noes, it looks like somebody else is asking that awkward question directly to KnC. What *will* their answer be?

When will the titan be able to mine _ALL_ scrypt based coins? We need an answer KNC!

The titan was shipped in late september, many firmware updates has been released but still the titan is not able to mine whatever scrypt coin we wont, it is just not possible.

What are you doing to fix this? Are you even aware of this or do you just test your miners/firmware on litecoin pools?

*AWKWARD!*

Guys!!!! Some1 Help me pleeeeease
I bought my 3 KNC Titans in june, but they just got produced today, after several months, and the LTC is already in 90USD/day with the 3 machines, what could i do???
Does the Titan mine Scrypt-N?
And what is the hash for that???
Can someone send me a tutorial for setup?
I am going to pick them in sweden next week...

My warmest condolences.

welcome to the club my only hope is they get alt coin fast block mining to work and I go 'unicorn hunting' at an elec loss for the next
dodge coin success on day 1  type coin of the future....(hey it could happen..i could win the lottery....i could make a warp drive for cash etc)

kinda glad i had to do this as a biz at least i can get equip depreciation 25% on the Titan 7.6k loss is less trama

so live an learn i guess ...talk to a CPA with 3 Titans I'd call myself a home biz and write of 25% in equip depreciation $$$ towards
taxes in real cash (5yrs 20% a year) of the loss or at least look into such
with 3 titans you certainly would look like a hard core small biz startup thats for sure only angle I have on all this so far

and also my condolences as well........it does suck...

From what I can find, the best rate you'll pay in Sweden for electricity is about 8 eurocents per kWh, which isn't very good. That's what large mines and data centres pay.
Shish... Try 43 cents a Kilowatthour...  8 cents is friggin cheap compared to The Big I.
But now solar saved me. (Yep, Jupiter coin was spent to get it)
GoodBye 350 to 550 a month electric bills.
Wish Neppie or Titan could do the same but ever since they went corporate with Brock and other idiots the whole company went down the toilet.

shhhh....don't tell edgar you sold high on btc and bought a massive solar setup and are off the grid....
he might bring up that whole 'mastermind' thing again evil genius that you obviously are ..heh Smiley

(wonder what old edgar has been saying lately....since i last saw him quoted ...he really does need some mental health help)

ah the joys of /ignore i can say what I please and not have to read edgar..sorry to you guys who don't have him on /ignore after this post

by the way phoneix's solar setup is big enough he is COMPLETELY OFF the grid and is buying back in the coin he sold back a heck of a lot cheaper

me I just be still a holding

heh.....well at least someone did good with their BTC mined from KNC and was smart enough to get refuned on the Neptune in time!

as for my Titan to be fair it does make a fairly good space heater..
