How does an Average Joe not 'go long' on something that he's being told is a digital currency to be bought and used as such? Or as a deflationary asset to be held? Was there ever a time not to 'be long' Bitcoin?

These type of articles are inane. It's like telling Average Joe "Go long/short on the rental property you just bought. Go long/short on the Gold you just bought."

I'm not disgusted with reality. I'm disgusted with tireless back and forth drilling of the same old stuff by the few that care about it, to the detriment of the silent majority who doesn't mind a nice OT, but couldn't give fewer fucks about racist (un)subtleties than an annoyed honey badger.

Wise words.  However, since the average poster on here seems to me politically to lie somewhere between casually racist and far right white supremecist, I doubt the wise words of those with a differing point of view are either welcome or at all digested.

Too true.   I have always visited this place because of a belief in Bitcoin and for a long time it's been my only connection with a whole bunch of other people who I thought were here for that too.

But these days I often feel I need decontamination after reading a few pages - and that's even with a fairly large ignore list.

The WO is often brilliantly off topic, but racist propaganda is not what I am looking for, especially from people who aren't even Bitcoiners and probably think they're winning because no-one has yet shown them the door, they often still get given the time of day and they quoted like they have a point that is relevant here.

It's like this:

I wouldn't stay in a drinking joint with a bunch of people at the other end of the bar with swastikas on their jackets talking loudly and ignorantly about Jews or Muslims (or women, come to that). Partly because it would disgust me and I would probably end up getting into a fight with that sort of pondlife - it runs in my family....  Mostly because I would hate anyone to judge me by the company I keep.

There a couple of possibilities here.  

We either have a minimum standard of behaviour (no genocide allowed) or we can fork the thread.  I don’t doubt our good moderator has the best of intentions but it is embarrassing to be associated with some of this stuff, even if only anonymously.  Ain’t nobody got time for Stormfront Word Salad.  

You seem to be letting them get to you.

Moderator (thread owner) seems to have a way more liberal non-deletion policy than many would prefer, but I think that he is living up to what he said that he would do, and perhaps even better than expected... ... Yeah, of course a few deletions of posts, here and there would send a decent signal to some of the off-topic hate-speech, and I am sure that he does some of that, but for the most part, it is likely better to error on the side of non-deletion and each of us can decide the extent to which we partake or even acknowledge the nonsense...

And, by the way, regarding price... not a whole hell-of-a-lot of action there, recently..... price explosion imminent?  Up, down  or sideways... ?

Edit:  Half an hour later... we looking like the start of a little bit of UP?  Would be nice to see another $1k up... .. which would start to get some juices flowing, no?

Personally, I'm pretty hard to offend, so posts here rarely bother me. Also, I do try to err on the side of free speech. I would encourage everyone to permanently ignore offensive posters, and not to feed trolls (and grow some thicker skin).

OTOH, I recognize the thread has been getting derailed pretty badly over the past week or so. Maybe I've been a little too lax? Regardless, I've been deleting some newer troll posts.

I don't come here to read Zerohedge. There's a backlash against globalization and multiculturalism. I understand it. There were winners and there are losers and it's an interesting turn of events. But genocide seems like a bit much. No?
