Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Is there any official statement from Theymos yet?

Yes, there was.

I think that what it is is that imgur added a new very restrictive per-IP limit on image downloads. So all ip.bitcointalk.org requests are blocked, but even many Tor exit nodes are being blocked, for example.

I'm not going to attempt to play some cat-and-mouse game with imgur, so people will just have to use a different service such as TalkImg.

+1 WOsMerit

Thanks.
He's absolutely right on the cat/mouse aspect, regarding it's not a mistake to limit requests from bitcointalk to imgur.

Crypto news are a bit depressing don't you think ? Much more FUD and crap than positive news. Well a bit like real news I guess.

The ledger thing for example, they provide hardware wallets that help you be your own bank without too much complication (seed is secure even if the computer/smartphone isn't), then they offer a service where you need to KYC and give up your seed to a third party, makes sense NOT !

MPs say cryptocurrency has 'no intrinsic value' and call for trading to be regulated as a form of gambling NOT a financial service
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/crypto/article-12090221/MPs-call-crypto-trading-regulated-way-gambling.html

I'd be quite happy if BTC was seen as gambling in the UK, far less interference from the state and I wouldn't be liable to pay 20% capital gains tax on any profits to these mofos.

OT: Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway sells entire stake in TSMC
https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/16/investing/berkshire-hathaway-taiwan-tsmc-stock-exit-hnk-intl/index.html

What do insiders like Warren Buffett know? China war with U.S. over Taiwan coming soon?

Black swan event in Taiwan?

The linked article does quote Buffett expressing concern about geopolitical tensions in the area, as do several other snippets I've read before. "I'd feel safer if that money was in Japan", he said, or something to that effect. I don't suppose it means he actually knows any details about the immediate future, but he sure has strong hunches.

Hasn't bitcoin been "buried" all these years? They constantly give a heap of all sorts of arguments, explain and make negative forecasts. But bitcoin is still with us, and with its success still gives a reason for the spiteful critics to come out with malice. Of course, it's important to be aware of what's happening, but don't worry too much about FUD or bad news from some centralized companies like ledger.

He wouldn't "buy high, sell low" for sure.

If people are willing to pay a million to talk to him, I bet he's got people that get paid a million to tell him what was in recent classified reports.
Money is power and the more you got any of these, you're only going to get more at the expense of those who don't.
The only thing these guys fear is time and they're running out.
I wouldn't want all his money if that meant being his age.

That said, Miami bitcoin conference is about to start.

Who cares what ledger do though. They are just a company, they aren't Bitcoin. The market will determine if that service is useful to people and being how many stupid people there are in the world I'm sure it will get used. Effect on Bitcoin is zero, the bocks keep coming, as always.

On the one hand, maybe. On the other hand, the problem is in part caused by internal site software that rewrites peoples' image links and there is a huge amount of money in the pot from people who donated to improve the site.

It shouldn't be up to a user to implement an image upload site to fix things out of their own pocket.

(Note that I do agree mostly with the reasoning behind the proxy).

They are joining the lines of companies like BMW who are seeking subscription fees.

Micheal Saylor who?

Tether to invest up to 15% of its profits in bitcoin

Quote
Tether is set to purchase bitcoin on a regular basis from its profits.
It held $1.5 billion in bitcoin as of the end of the first quarter, accounting for about 2% of its reserves.

Nobody should care when it comes to Bitcoin but it is Bitcoin adjacent so worth talking about. There is a fair bit of FUD nonsense surrounding this but there is an important core of truth. Unfortunately, adjacent news often does affect Bitcoin price, especially in the skittish market we appear to be in (though sometimes very important news doesn't even move the needle).
