Understood. It sure distorts our diff% when they go away. I know it is just a warm fuzzy stat but going back to 21PH to find a block is not going to occur in the statistical timeframe the difficulty % reflects. Just an observation. Not a complaint.
More hashrate = more shares = more blocks = more frequent payouts = less variance. I am happy about that. We are getting our share we worked anyway, so everything is fair.

As long as we hit a block with them. What is the impact when we go back to 21PH when they leave before we hit a block? I am glad they are on. But it is only beneficial if we hit while they are on. If this is incorrect I am open to being corrected, please. Main point is the statistical luck is what it is. This major variance in hash just distorts diff% figures and expectations may be skewed.

...What is the impact when we go back to 21PH when they leave before we hit a block? ....
The statistical impact of short-term heavy hitters on the rest of the pool's payout is quite minimal in a 5N calculation.

If we "meant" to hit no block during let's say 1M hashes, then we would spent another week churning through those hashes. If temporary hashrate bring that block faster, we are good. We would be paid one fair percentage share for our contribution, regardless of temporary hashrate during those blocks.

Using a car analogy is like hitting the gas peddle on the highway. We gain speed and ramp up and then ramp down, think of 20 PH as our cruising speed. If anything statistically we should get to our destination sooner even if they leave before a block. Of course there is luck factor, good and bad. The premise is always the same.
People are going to hop into and out of any pool. The difference here is your share is much less affected over time than anywhere else because of ramp up.

point of note:
If a short-term heavy hitter leaves before or after a block is irrelevant to anything outside of the block finder bonus. 1 million shares out of 21,534,747,869,905 = 1 million shares out of 21,534,747,869,905; unless they are completely new to the pool, the only fundamental difference is which block(s) they get their highest payment in (and maybe 2 people on the extreme edge of the payment/postponement line). In one block or split across 2, it has no impact on the majority of the pool members.

As I understand it the following is a correct statement. Am I confused?
Once a block is found a search for a new block commences. Statistical 'luck' may provide a probability/diff% of your chances in finding the next block. The work you did on the last block or before has NO bearing on helping a miner find the next block. It is good old fashion 'luck'.
(I know prior work for pool credits and earning such matter for rampup, etc.) This is not a payout question. (I also understand the more hash power ie miners, etc a pool has increases likelihood of a block find so that is not part of the question.) This is solely a question of when a new block is being searched for is there any direct input from previous work that assists in finding the new block. My understanding is no. Thanks, I hope I am not over stepping my bounds w this.

BTW they have hit multiple blocks if I am correct.

I am not a pessimist or optimist. I just want to learn the facts. I am asking specific questions that some are reading motive into. Please read my posts fully. No motive, no attitude. Just want to learn what I can so I speak w facts not "I believe so's". Very respectfully, thanks

More specifically, every hash has a 1 in 4,306,949,573,981 chance of finding a block. Since we're not in a vacuum and working on new blocks every ~10 minutes, not only do previous shares not have any effect on that probability, previous hashes don't have a measurable impact either.

Will Bitcoin be affected by the 51% attacks going on in the news?
Does this have any impact on mining pools / solo pools?

Although I feel it's poor form for a company to mine on a small community pool. I had already thought it's bad enough minefarmbuy is here, even though I did get one of their promo s9's a little while back. LOL
Just kidding btw, any small loss will be made up if they stick it out and mine farm guy is just on their personal rigs? Not company? Regardless we're about due for block soon.

So we have a battle for 14th place Phil with 2P rental is quickly gaining on Philo without his hydro upgrade and a wounded electric panel can only muster 40% of his horsepower...
