I wonder where all Bcashers are. If it were Bitcoin splitting, all hell would break loose and the thread would quickly become massively crowded. Things like this make me wonder if there is any real following. It is as if no one gives a shit.

Btw, wasn't today when SV was going to test block capacity? I don't see any block over 32MB... that was it?

C'on this is the most interesting experiment in the last months and it is too quiet here.

It is Wright who said he wouldn't accept other chain to survive and will commit every resource to kill it even for months/years. He has already lost the hashwar, now let's see if he go on guerrilla war and commit his threats of attacking the ABC chain... Something which could have clear legal implications btw.

Is there any estimated time for the hashwar to end, or could it continue for months or for as long as both camps want to keep up with the war ?
I supposed it was meant to be like a race, where maybe the first mine a certain amounts of blocks wins ? Am I wrong ?

Yep, you are wrong, there is no estimated time for the hashwar to end. Currently BCH has divided into two forks (ABC and SV) and both of them insist in that they are the true Bcash.

In fact one could argue there is no hashwar anymore and there are two different coins now. It is getting too late for both to rejoin into one.

P.S.:

Quote
Announcement
Coin Dance is now able to declare that both active chains will continue to be permanently split into the foreseeable future. The majority of businesses in the cryptocurrency ecosystem are now using Bitcoin Cash (BCH) to refer to the chain maintained by miners operating in consensus with the latest implementations from Bitcoin ABC, Bitcoin Unlimited, Bitprim, Bitcoin XT, bcash, and bchd. A number of exchanges have added support for the Bitcoin SV chain under the Bitcoin SV (BSV / BCHSV) name but general app support is currently very limited. Expect to see announcements made from each of the major companies in the Bitcoin Cash ecosystem that clarify which chain(s) they will support going forward.

The Bitcoin SV community believes that dedicated hash is the key mechanism used for building network consensus. The Bitcoin Cash community believes that that miners, developers, businesses, and individuals should all have a voice on future protocol changes. Over time, we will see which of these two viewpoints ends up getting us closer to that dream of building digital cash for the entire world.

We also wanted to give a big thanks to the entire cryptocurrency community for all of the amazing support you’ve given us over the past several years. You are the reason why we do what we do!

We will continue to offer insights on Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and Bitcoin SV (BSV) as needed.

Whoever is behind this genius move deserves award, how easily we escaped from BCH ticker. No more confusion as this has started to disappear already and in next few days there will be no BCH but ABC and SV. BCH has misguided lot of new comers those couldn't make difference in real and imposter version. Now there is only Bitcoin the real one and only BTC.
It was faster than I expected, they really could not come up with a mutual solution and the coin started following a disagreement keeps on splitting into other teams. Was not following the news religiously about the split but I was confused when I could not see the BCH token in some exchanges instead SV and ABC is added to it, I thought it was a three way split  Grin. So who really owns the BCH moniker now. Either way the drama has dragged the market down.

From publicly available information, this is how it appears. But what makes you think that all relevant info is public?

I work with what I have.

Maybe SV have won the hashwar and killed ABC... in secret?  Tongue

No, really, I would love to see this escalating soon because it is a great way to put to test some theories and principles of Bitcoin and verify the outcome.

Do you still think Wright/Ayre camp may have some ace up his sleeve?

To me it is all just a bunch of insane bluffing.

Well, they may be bluffing.

Another possibility is that there is something to this Squire/Samsung story, and that SV forces are secretly mining an empty ABC chain, waiting for time of maximum disruption to release it and cause all clients to abandon the current ABC chain.

Who knows? It would be entertaining, though. And instructive.

Also, I think it hilarious that the powers that be for BCH think a hash war is necessary, when Bitcoin already implemented more civil consensus mechanisms years ago.

More civil? By controlling the dialogue in all relevant channels such that alternatives could not be discussed? No thanks. Incidentally, hash war is the exact mechanism described in the white paper. I mean, I realize that Core-eans don't like Bitcoin, and think it is irreparably flawed, but at least recognize this for what it is. Governance via Nakamoto Consensus.

Well, at least with the BTC way, real commerce could proceed without interruption. Are you sure Satoshi felt that if mining parties disagree, they should just go out an have a hash war and delay any safe and meaningful commerce for days or weeks?  Roll Eyes

No, I am not sure that is what Satoshi would have wanted. But the facts are that that is the system he developed and released to the world. Along with the admonition that "They vote with their CPU proof-of-worker, expressing their acceptance of valid blocks by working on extending them and rejecting invalid blocks by refusing to work on them. Any needed rules and incentives can be enforced with this consensus mechanism."

It was obvious that BTC was going the wrong way last August. We fixed the problem in the manner available.
...
I mean, I realize that Core-eans don't like Bitcoin, and think it is irreparably flawed, but at least recognize this for what it is.

And up is down, left is right, good is bad. We get it. You're a sore loser. Just blurting out words on a forum doesn't change the fact of the matter, which is that your team lost, big time, and it cost the entirety of the BCH community in the process.

War is war. It is not over until both sides stop warring.

Its over.

Technically Bitcoin is a fork and Bitcoin Cash is the original blockchain. When the hard fork occurred, people had access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.- NIST

Your lack of awareness of your irony is breath-taking/mind-numbing.

First you were calling BTC "Core," now you're calling BCH "ABC." When Wright forks the code again from Ayres, what will you call SV?

Price on both will go down massively

Jihan and Roger will be waiting to dump SV
CSW and Ayre will be waiting to dump ABC

The real question is who will dump first and will it ever regain

Some exchanges may just drop BCH all together and just allow you to withdraw funds and the others may keep trading suspended for months or even years of nChain/coingeek remain true to their threats and the hashing remains around 50:50
