Suddenly I can't mine Graft with my Vegas using Cast 0.9.0, it says rejected share - low difficulty.  Tried two different pools.  Is something broken?

Use the option --algo=0 to force classic CryptoNight.

Graft reports that it is Version 7, the flag which Monero uses for the upcomming switch to their new CryptoNight variant.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Thanks glph3k,

How exactly --ratewatchdog works glph3k?

How exactly --ratewatchdog works glph3k?

It just compares the current hash rate with the average hash rate if it is below a certain threshold it resets the kernel for the affected GPU.

It should be faster then a complete restart and if only some GPUs have an hash rate drop only those have to be reseted and it does not lose the current job state.

The exact reason for a sudden hash rate drop is still to be found, but it seems to be rooted deep in the driver. I suspect that it has to do something with power level switichings (ACPI) or similar.

Hi,

a new version is available:

Cast XMR Version 0.9.1 (2018/03/22)

  - 0.5% overall performance improvement for Vega based GPUs

  - --ratewatchdog experimental option to monitor the hash rate, in case an occasional happening drop of the hash rate is detected the kernel will be resetted to restore the optimal hash rate

  - fully tested CryptoNight variant (CryptoNightV7) for the Monero V7 Network Upgrade PoW Change which is now scheduled for the 6th April.

  - In case you want to mine the Graft coin use the --algo=0 option, an automatic detection of the used CryptoNight variant is not possible for this coin. For all other known CryptoNight coins the hash variant seems to be detected correct

  - In case you are mining with nicehash.com or any other automatic coin switching pool that has the Graft coin in the mix the --algo=0 option is advised to prevent invalid shares on the Graft coin. Be aware to remove the option when the Monero V7 network upgrade is happpening otherwise it then will clash with mining Monero!

Thanks for clarify,

Just tested the function in Vega56 and worked good.

But drivers are so buggy. Cool

Any plans for porting the cast-xmr for a more recent drivers without the losing of hasrate?

In rx580 im with new drivers and the hashrate is the same as blockchain drivers (very similar), why in vegas is not possible?

It should say "Kernel Reset", not "Kernel Resetted".

Nice little boost in hashspeed.  Almost back to normal before fastjobswitch was implemented. Thanks!

I love how simple and easy to use Cast XMR is.

The download contains 2 files. 1 is the miner and the other is the config file.
So simple to use and doesn't need compiling unlike the XMR STAK miner.

Hashrates are good too. I just wonder why these miner's don't also automatically add GPU/CPU power consumption.
Would be great to measure this as well as this directly affects profitability. Embarrassed

So your saying the latest AMD drivers (not the 8/23/2017 blockchain drivers) work with Vega now with cast-xmr doing 2 KHash/s?

On a different note, does anyone know if there were blockchain drivers released for Sapphire Nitro Radeon RX480 after the August 2017 release? I can't seem to find any drivers post August 2017 and the August 2017 ones do not work, i used the DDU program and uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled the blockchain drivers, then added the patch too.... every time i do this process, the screen goes off and does not let me into normal mode, then i have to reboot into safe mode again, uninstall the drivers and come back out again! I am running windows 7, any idea what could be causing this?

Can't speak to Win7, but under Win 10, the latest Adrenaline drivers give excellent results for RX 480/570/580.  General process is find and apply whatever memory strap improvement that matches the memory on your card, install latest AMD driver, immediately run amdpatcher.exe before restarting.  That avoids the Window crashing on startup issues with latest Adrenaline drivers.  *** Make sure you also enable "compute" mode in AMD Settings.

Can you actually set the compute mode for all GPU's in one shot or do we still need to do it from AMD settings one by one.

Hi,

I am new in here but followed the discussion for a while.

I just got a question about the Monero upcoming fork. I do mine to Nicehash but am concerned a bit about the upcoming change.

I understood that Nicehash is supporting the upcoming XMV.

Please, can you clarify is the exact date to switch the algorithm to V7 6th April even the delayed snapshot date is now 30th April?

Then how about the cast miner, should I use still after the change in algorithm the option --algo=0 or what?

As far as I could tell, one by one.  The Registry setting doesn't seem to exist prior to using AMD Settings to toggle compute on. But once set it survives reboots and seems pretty solid.

And just for the addition to the last posting...

I am running 4x6 units... total of 24 Vega 64....

And I an scared of ASICs or other systems that can make my investment crying.

Initial profit calculation was good with the payback time like few monts...

Now it has expanded to more than years... and I believe its because of the Bitmain silent and secret introduce of asics. I believe the used these by their own until they heard V7 and because of that decided to introduce X3 miners to the the market. They just want to get these out of their hands before it is too late.

So my perception is just dont buy these to prevent to be a victim of the scam.

Use the option --algo=0 to force classic CryptoNight.

Graft reports that it is Version 7, the flag which Monero uses for the upcomming switch to their new CryptoNight variant.

Is it option --algo=0 or --algo 0?

I’ve been using without the --algo 0 as I thought that’s what the instructions said and it seems to be working but I’m guessing that’s not right?
