0.9.3 is COMPLETE. As i stated earlier it has been for some time (In the time since its been done ive even hard forked DGC to V3 from the original V2 code) which shows the time since its been done. If @Frictionless you do plan on doing it. I must insist that you start ASAP. Once v0.10 launches i plan on upgrading straight to it, and any of your counterparty work if not completed will NOT be ported. Which will leave you left with porting counterparty to a 0.10 base.

Ahmed

@Ahmed:  Are you saying a 0.9.x implementation of Counterparty won't work with 0.10.x clients?  Please clarify.

not at all. I'm saying i wont put put a 1/2 backed counterparty implementation into 0.10. It'll have to be fully working when i upgrade ixc to 0.10 or it wont go in at all. (I've already started work on the changes needed)

I'm still not understanding.  I thought Counterparty could be deployed independant from the crypto client software.  Bitcoin actually tried to kill Counterparty by reducing the size of OP_RETURN, but it was deployed regardless.   So it shouldn't require any work on your part (iXcoin client) to get Couterparty working.  Am I missing something?

The OP_RETURN functionality isn't in the old version of IXC that is deployed at GHASH.IO.

Yes, I know most pools are still using the ancient version 0.3.24, but it sounded like Ahmed was saying you need to target your implementation of counterparty to version 0.9.x or 0.10.x.  I thought it didn't matter.  They will both have OP_RETURN = 80 bytes.  Right?

correct me if im wrong but i thought there was something to do with a counterparty being part of the ixcoin software?

Not that I've heard.  I believe it's independent of the ixcoin client.  Only changing the value of OP_RETURN may require changes to the counterparty implementation as far as I know.  Especially if the value is set so low that the normal counterparty transaction data won't fit anymore.  That's why there was a point made to set OP_RETURN back to 80 bytes.

If you support iX I think that is cool.

I like iX since it has been around a long time has good security and high difficulty.

I cannot see how a name change of the coin would ever benefit it unless Thomas supported this since he launched the coin.

Also Vlad may be a bit wild at times but so also is his passion for the success of iX.

I too have been known to fly off the handle for different reasons.

Anyone who feels strongly about something is likely to.

A long time ago I could not get a wallet to connect to the network and Vlad was the only person to assist and point me to the proper resources.

New people taking an interest now have the ixorg website with older and newer information available.

I feel Vlad has filled in the necessary gaps when Thomas is not around so it is just as much his coin.

If not for Vlad I would not be involved here at all.

So if you are asking Vlad to quit try to look at the long term big picture of all the good things he has done for iX over a long period of time.

When mostly everyone was predicting the demise of iX Vlad defended it and he turned out to be correct.

I certainly hope iX continues to receive the necessary support from everyone who has made it a success up to this point.

New developers can certainly submit their code /projects in open source code for review of the community /iX foundation/ everyone.

I agree with cinnamon there. I wouldnt be working on IXC if it wasnt for vlad. Now that would apply wether it was the most popular coin out there too. It's vlad thats getting things done around here even if just with his passion for the coin

Why didn't thomas just come out and say, hey guys knock that name change shit off will ya?

Thomas does not like to get involved in our mud fights - He's a much better character than me for that reason.

That said, I'm certain Thomas reads all these posts and if I were a lying idiot I don't think he would trust me after nearly 2 years.  Unlike any of you, I try to respect the man simply because this is his creation.  I have never tried to make this coin mine even though early on I could have since I assumed thomas was long gone and the premine too.

Obviously I was very wrong on both counts.

But I'll see what I can do to fix your doubt.

Thank you guys so much.

Lately it seems like all the trolls and sock puppets have come out to push me out.

I am one of few people on here that has never made a dime for working on/for IXC.  And on the contrary, nobody else has paid more out of pocket then me.

You would think a slave like me would get more respect that this.  lol

Thanks again....I really needed some positive feedback right now.  Thomas helped but he could have been a bit more direct.

Cheers!

I hate to post anyone's private message but I don't wanna hear anymore crap about changing iXCoin's name for another 3 months until Thomas can post again on this thread confirming this is in fact his wish.

So I cut out the personal part of his PM and left the relevant part which is not secret anyway, since anyone here who has paid attention already knows [but do not like it] that Thomas has repeatedly said NO to a name/symbol change.

So let this be the last talk about name changes.

Thomas has repeatedly said NO to a name/symbol change.

Does it mean we should go back to this one?

No, I got permission from Thomas to create a new one letter currency symbol.

The Symbol I was referring to is IXC.  That's our trade symbol which goes hand in Hand with our name, iXCoin.

Right now it's looking like Miami in mid January.  It's gonna be cheaper and give us more time to raise the funds.  Hopefully all the big hot shots will be there.  It sounds like a major Bitcoin event so I think it's gonna be a good one.

I think Bitcoin is gonna skyrocket by then so money shouldn't be an issue [hopefully].

@Vlad:  Is your plan still to go to Miami?

I didn't raise enough money.  I Raised a total of ~$330.

Barely enough for the entrance fee.

If I don't go to a bitcoin event soon I'll refund the total 1.1 BTC I have received so far.

Sorry guys, I really want to go but I'm going through a very tough time now and I can't afford the ~$2,000 cost.

I even asked Thomas for a donation but no go.  I don't blame him, his focus is developing IXC.

Hi IXCOIN gang!

Wow.....well into the new year already, sounds like some exciting stuff happening...

Will be spending the next few days trying to catch up on developments.   Personal note: Thanks again Jumbley, your able to say so much, with just a few words....

@Ahmed - As you know, cause we've been hanging out on freenode ##ixcoin for months, I worked hard on Ixcoin in Nov, almost exclusively on a major new 'depends' builder, able to quickly build executables for cross-platform targets on a linux machine, there are some other minor enhancements I made to, primarily to migrate the clientversion methodology closer to the latest bitcoin we had at the time.

For those that don't know, when I started helping out here, I was basically learning and building Ixcoin on a Windows 32 bit machine, using the MingW compiler and development tools required to build crypto.  Anyway, since last showing up, I've completely migrated my personal computer/web experience & more importantly the development platform & tools one needs over to a Debian wheezy 64 bit OS setup.  A very big change, it's hard to describe how fantastic it's been to breath new life into this old hardware.  Shocked

Ahmed my point is, if you've got ongoing efforts to port Ixcoin to v0.10!  Wow, that is a huge jump!  I want to support it!  It goes way past what I have here locally, makes that work obsolete.  Story of my life haha...

No hard feels though, it's my intention to never release that work, unless need be, as I learned allot from it.  If you're not able to get the port of Ixcoin to v0.10 done as easily as you've hoped, it's available.  My guess is that your efforts will prove successful, there will be no need to create separate branches or make that migration in baby steps.  In either case, I'll see you again soon on irc, been buried in code this last month and unavailable, hope you had a good holiday.

For the rest of you, what this all means is that I'm pretty much setup to provide production class builds to various targets for Ixcoin, and it's quick.  Once the toolchains have been built.  I see the Bitcoin gurus released a major new update right after the new year, changes to the 'depends' builder concept I'm now using.  Finally there is a pretty good chance we can offer Darwin builds from a linux hosted builder, I want us to have that capability.   Will be testing Bitcoin's latest over the next two weeks, if someone else has it figured out already, super.  Please step forward.  There are lots of other loose ends I want to work on, but my priority is going to shift now to finishing what I started which is, the process of generating language translations files we need for Ixcoin.  Can handle the technical aspect of it, but it's not my specialty, so always looking for help in that regard.  Humans have so many different languages.  You can find the account I created for team work here: https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/ixcoin-core-qt/

I'll announce when I have the 1st set of Ixcoinstrings submitted.  Getting a good set of language files for Ixcoin is something which I think is real important, and hope to streamline the process enough, that it can get done periodically.

As I haven't been around much for over two months,  want all of you to know that I still fully support everyones efforts to advance Ixcoin's presence into what I think will be a big time growing market place for 2015!  We may not all agree on what direction to take, or how to do it, but that is all part of the great experiment.  Not to be taken as a personal attack, simply because we may disagree.

More to follow... have a few hundred thousand posts to wade through...

hey GR. i've started on integrating the BTC commit histories into our code for 0.9.3 to ease off the upgrade to 0.10. Once ive finished that (done everything besides 1/2 the files in the SRC folder) then we can work on the 0.10 upgrade. i do think you should PR the 0.9.3 depends build stuff. since i want to have a repo similar to the DGC one i have. Where each version is in a seperate branch. This'd make it easier for everyone since it's easy to find an old version if ever needed. (There's been lots of occasions where ive had to search round the web for old versions for various alts)

Sure deadsea33, fine by me....

Thanks Jumbley.  For sure that would be a load of new people adding transactions to the chain...

Sounds good Ahmed.  WIll sync up my local repo with your current main ixcoin-dev branch this week and make sure I'm ready to generate pull requests, plus get back on freenode chat so we can stay in touch and not bump into each others work.   Perhaps we may yet be able to pull in some of my work done on the 'depends' builder, not sure yet.  More than likely any changes I make in the near term,  will be onelines, as I try to fix _tr prefixes missing in the code, where the strings are messages we want translated.   Extractstrings.py works pretty good if that is done correctly and builds src/qt/ixcoinstrings.cpp for us.  Then get them shipped off to transifex for translation..and the results brought back in as a new commit, after what I hope is a small amount of hand editing.

Jim Harper - from the most powerful think-tank in America, was fired from the Bitcoin Foundation [last month] for telling the truth about Bitcoin.  The exact truth I've been telling for nearly 2 years now.

I have reached out to him - maybe he can see the true potential of iXCoin.  If we get Harper we get Cato et al, then we would not need CEX.io [or anyone else].

In the past I have leaked insider info to this thread for transparency reasons but from now on I will not share any insider info until it is finalized and ready for public release.

Nothing good came from my open, honest and transparent style so now let's get all corporate and see if that makes any difference.

Besides Jim Harper I'm also talking to some other industry titans.

Shockingly, the biggest obstacle I have had to overcome is convincing them that IXC is still alive.  Haha....

My server ran out of HDD space before i was able to succesfully test a block. I know for sure it's not working on testnet. On mainnet i think it may do. With testnet i was having an issue where it complained that the block time was too far in the future
