not impossible on that scenario ethereum overtake the bitcoin price into the market price, but even if ethereum overtake the price value of bitcoin i believe bitcoin is the number one as king of altcoin nobody can replace in this position.
but is only in your dreams look at the price gap of eth and btc.

I think they can't surpass the ethereum to bitcoin because bitcoin is the first and original cryoto currency having a unique platform that no body can copy its designed. While ethereum has a potential altcoins that gives a good profit also in terms of value and platform.

We can't deny the fact that when the price of bitcoin goes up or down so does the price of the ALT coins including ETH. They all depend on the bitcoins price in the market, so there is no way it can overtake bitcoin in my opinion.

Nope I don't think this will occur in 2018 but I will say that the potential growth for Ethereum is higher than the potential growth for Bitcoin. Given that you may want to unload BTC for ETH but not because it is going to "overtake" it.

I think it can not be, bitcoin is the first pioneer of digital currency, while ETHEREUM comes after bitcoin, although it is possible the development of ethereum feature is very good and fast, but father is father and son is son. such is bitcoin and ethereum.

i believe it will, but not in a span of 1 year time ,
maybe around 10 years, ETH is a gateway of all other crypto and ICO's project
and the supply of it is a lot more than bitcoin , so probably my assumption
is that if bitcoin reach it peak people will consider to invest next on the
next BIG COIN which is the Ethereum , every thing has an beginning and an end
a starting point and peak , ethereum is in my own speculation would surpass
BTC someday because of it more advance than BTC and supply is to be considered
also and other advance development and other improve aspect.

Still do your own research and try to compare BTC and ETH in many aspect
and try to see the law of demands in a very long term and speculate and judge
it yourself.

Crypto still it's on babe state there are still a lot to expect on it years ahead.

I think the price is not everything, to compete with bitcoin requires some measurable aspect, but I'm sure 2018 is the year for altcoins

In my opinion, Ethereum will not overtake bitcoin in the near future. Firstly, bitcoin has a very limited supply compared to ethereum. Secondly, ethereum still needs a killer dapp which can bring in more attention.
Ethereum has a long way to go before overcoming bitcoin in terms of price.

Bitcoin is not a normal cryptocurrency it is the mother of all other alts and ETH all comes in the same. ETH has not even reached half value of bitcoin so we just cannot compare ETH with bitcoin and also not any other cryptocurrency. Bitcoin has become the center flow of all the cryptocurrencies and no other currency can replace it as it has already put its roots everywhere in the market.

 barley think the this will happen in anytime in the future! The real bitcoin as speak is always going to have more trust as compare to other coins and ETH specially. This trust will always keep building more and more investors and crypto enthusiast in the favour of bitcoin leading to ultimate investment into bitcoin. So you see here, the weightage for the bitcoin will be always higher as compared to the ETH. Im completely in favour with the ETH as good investment but it always comes after the BTC. Its perfect currency for long term investment but I don't think that anyone will ever put it in the first rank and that too after having blessed with BTC in the crypto world.

It would even be hard before we see such a thing happening. Bitcoin will keep improving and we cannot keep seeing the way we transact now with the high transaction fee and long days of getting it confirmed forever as things would gradually change.

If it continues like this though without any improvement which I doubt, then we may expect anything to happen as bitcoin cannot keep living in old glory without improvements and expecting not to be sidelined.

Frankly I think that Bitcoin cash could surpass the original bitcoin due to 8 Mb block size (lower fees and higher transaction speed). Moreover I believe that in 2018 ADA could become the top-1 crypto.
