Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin

Ethereum was created and based on Bitcoin technology with a view to improving the limitations of Bitcoin. Because of that Ethereum has achieved great acclaim as well as trust from professionals, companies and big investors. What are the advantages of Ethereum over Bitcoin?
Each block of ETH is only 14 - 15s while Bitcoin is 10 minutes. This means that Ethereum transaction will be much faster for Bitcoin and this is also the biggest limitation of Bitcoin.
- ETH block halves in the same year while block BTC divide every 4 years.
- ETH has a difference in transaction costs, which depends on the complexity, bandwidth and computing needs while Bitcoin is the same. This is called "Gas in ETH" and is limited to each block while the BTC limits the block size.
- ETH has Turning complete means that everything from time, electricity consumption, ... is calculated enough while BTC does not have this type of code.
- ETH uses a memory card with a hashing algorithm called ETHASH as opposed to ASICS and encourages ETH to be decentralized, while the BTC concentrates.

Closer to reality if ethereum can still increase its value while bitcoin start dropping because there's a speculation that bitcoin will drop to $7000 so if ethereum can overtake bitcoin in that time then the 1st place is there's but it they keep dropping while bitcoin drops then that vision is so blurry to see will happen.

I guess ETH will fly high in price this year round but I do not think it will overtake Bitcoin because bitcoin is the highest crypto around the world and it has a limited number only. ETH will rise but maybe not with like bitcoin price. This is from my own opinion.

I don't think so, but probably the ethererum will over come all other cryptos like BCH.

I completely agree with this. Bitcoin is useless, I havent touched the thing in so long, massive transaction fees, slow network. It was a research project which has now reached its limits, which is great we have learnt from it but it has more or less reached the end of its usable life.
Ethereum already has more than half the market cap of bitcoin, soon coinmarket cap will have to start tracking ETH dominance not BTC dominance.

It is. ETH is the future. Bitcoin is just in our memory now. ETH can be used for many purposes, especially Personal wallet. We dont need central bank to hold our money, and we can have our money ourselves. I can save it, send it or even throw it as we want, personal decision. We dont want others know.

I think Ethereum will not overtake bitcoin, because bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency. Ethereum is more potential than bitcoin, ethereum is the future now, not bitcoin. But also if ethereum rise, bitcoin will rise as well.

I think Btc has not overtaken the btc since their supply is still limited. bitcoin will reign the throne because eth far apart is far from btc and continues to increase btc.

While BTC dont create lot of coins still the price is high because the demand still higher and because being the pioneer of crypto currency it is harder to be dethroned may it would take sometimes for etc to get into the spot of bitcoin.I would considered BTC as world crypto currency because all crypto currency is dependent on it.

For now Bitcoin is still the top cryptocurrency followed by eth as the main cryptocurrency, but someday i think, in the future, ETH will be in the same level with Bitcoin. Sooner or later ETH will be as valuable as bitcoin we'll see but for now lets just all enjoy what we have, what ETH is now. ETH is great! so it wont be imposible to be in the same level with Bitcoin.

ethereum, for now, it seems to be far more attractive than its potential because of the bitcoin is great and the price is not too high as well. In addition ethereum also more stable price in my opinion.

I'm also  a fan of Ethereum but I am realistic in terms of the value of this two cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is the mother of all cryptocurrency and the most stable and already have a very deep foundation in crypto industry. While Ethereum is known as the king of all smart contract token. In the end Ethereum still cannot overpower Bitcoin because all altcoins are relying on the rice of bitcoin.

Ethereum for me have high possibility of overtaking Bitcoin but I find it hard to happen next year. Maybe earliest late 2018 but still I doubt it. Lightning Network is possible for Bitcoin in 2018 so that will delay Ethereum ambitions.

This will be very difficult to happen in a near future. It will take years for ethereum to overtake bitcoin if at all it will happen. Bitcoin have gained enough popularity and it accepted all most  every where in the world. Bitcoin will continue to lead for 100 years to come.

Some people do see bitcoin as a store of value. To outgrow bitcoin for ethereum is really difficult despite the features of Ethereum which bitcoin lacks.
Bitcoin is the only thing most people know bout in crypto world and an attempt for a newbie to get into crypto... The first coin to get mostly would be bitcoin thereby pushing it upward.

But I know Ethereum would grow well this year.

We can't be so sure to that. Although bitcoin price is dropping down this past few months it can easily recovered. if btc value drop down to $9000 that's the time I'll be doubt.

this is the best time to convert to bitcoin while price is cheap and not to buy ethereum while the price in bitcoin is high

People see ETH price steady while bitcoin go down and expect ETH to be #1.   


If bitcoin go down ETH and all crypto go down.  The whole world of crypto is based on BITCOIN not ETH.

Perhaps in the future it might change but it's not going to happen any time soon.  All exchanges in the world need to be overhauled to ETH for this happen.  That is not a easy task.

If I was holding ETH right now I would trade for bitcoin because at this point it's @ all time high levels.
