I'm "intermediate verified ", It took me about 1-2 hour(s), it would have been faster if I had scanned my card correctly. It was 2 or 3 months ago. They were also replying to my emails within minutes. You should already have your account upgraded since, maybe they forgot to update your account. Did you contact them since?

It's regulated in New Zealand by FMA but there isn't any license or special regulation needed in the country. The company just need to register in a directory (the FSPR). (That was the case with the old cryptopia too) that's what I understood from your link. Since some people have been waiting for deposits in USD for a long time, they will be very pleased I guess

I do not see why its needed at all.

samlitecoin, No, you cannot withdraw funds from Etana to anyone else’s account. The primary advantage of Etana is that there is now a USD funding service for international individuals - a service that was previously unavailable.

As explained above, it's not possible. An alternative would be to use Unocoin or WazirX. I haven't tried either of them but there are some good reviews online.

Kraken,
Tell me this Etana custody thing is not the solution that you guys finally came up with after all this time and that it is a temporary bandaid?
Etana had the whole kicked off Nz list issue not to mention its quite small. It is a custody service and a 3rd party meaning someone else holds my money and they could go bye bye with it.
On top of the above concerns, you have to apply all over again for KYC with them and answer a 6 page questionnaire that is intrusive as hell. All you've done here is passed off your banking responsibility to a 3rd party, washed your hands off and if anything goes wrong you would claim you are not responsible.
Why is it just you guys that are unable to get their banking in order when all your competitors have gotten theirs?

Looking at those links, you can apparently withdraw $5k worth of crypto per day with the "starter" account. Your first link shows that withdrawing fiat requires an "intermediate" account. As the link below explains, https://support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/201352206-What-are-the-verification-tiers-and-requirements-The intermediate account requires valid ID and proof of residence, which the starter account doesn't. But you still have to provide date of birth, phone number, and physical address to get a starter account. Which makes it fairly intrusive, unless you plan to give fake info and use a burner phone. You wouldn't do that, would you?

Is it not time for you to give up on USD and Kraken? It simply won't happen in a straightforward manner. Go to Gemini. There's no way I'll be going anywhere near this service either. It smells like a cop out from Kraken and etana themselves smell like the type of place that's going to disappear with little to no warning. If I were running Kraken i would not be exposing my customers to a place that appears that shoddy. I would wait for real and integrated banking for other currencies or forget everything other than EUR.

sampam, Kraken’s collaboration with Etana Custody is not a temporary solution, however we are always looking at adding additional funding partners and options. Please note that Etana has not been kicked off of any list, as they are fully legal and compliant in every jurisdiction they have a presence in. We have had more than a year of due diligence put into Etana and are happy to offer an additional funding option to our clients. The new funding method does require opening an account with a third-party, however clients are not obligated to use this funding method if they do not wish to. Our push to offer additional funding options does not stop here, as we will continue to explore and offer additional funding options to our clients. Just as with our other banking partners, we work very closely with them to resolve any issues on our client’s behalf and would do so with Etana-related issues as well. If you happen to have any other Etana-specific questions or concerns, please feel free to open a support request and an Etana specialist would be happy to go through each of your questions and/or concerns.

You are aware of this and other concerns? https://www.interest.co.nz/business/98363/resurrection-how-etana-custody-ltd-company-whose-ceo-major-shareholder-has-never-beenMost no one would be willing to provide all that KYC and answer 6 pages of intrusive pointless questions on top. Again, why only you? Why when Gemini, Bittrex, Binance, Bitfinex, Bitstamp are expanding and bringing on new banking partners you aren't able to for over 1.5years?

Wouldn't your worries go away if you'd just hold your funds yourselves guys? If you're all so worries about who's securing your funds, just deposit what you're planning to exchange and then withdraw back!
That's the only way I've been doing things forever!
