Well, it would be nice if the wallet would use a little less resources for staking. I use a fairly strong laptop to run btc-core, cap and hbn at the same time and it's pretty much all it can handle.

Another thing worth mentioning is the amount of orphans if have staking: About 30% of what is staked turns out to be an orphan.
When I move my wallet to my dab ass i7 desktop, the percentage drops below 5%. Another indication the hbn wallet is very dependent on resources.

All in all, I am very impressed it works so reliably after about 3 years. But if someone would ask, I'd say lighter staking would be a great improvement. The fact that the chain is pretty big doesn't bother me at all. That's easily solved with a bootstrap of which recent ones are always available.

Cheers!

Yes, agree. The wallet is full of useful functions, but is resource hungry. I would guess it is not an easy job to remedy that.

It would be fantastic if we could take a note from DMD's book and use a bit from their book. POS takes up so little resources on my DMD wallet and the coins are automatically regrouped after staking. Makes for a much easier time loading the client.

Yep HBN client is killing me.

Reason Diamond loads faster is it has a smaller blockchain to load into memory.
Same reason new coins load faster smaller blockchains.

Diamond has less than 2 million coins total, Block Speed 100 seconds ,
VS
HBN has over 21 million coins with a Block Speed of 30 seconds
(Which means over 3x faster speed and 3X the ability to carry more transactions than diamond, side effect to that is a larger blockchain which is why it takes up more memory resources) Algo might make some difference HBN scrypt vs Diamond groestl, but probably not enough to worry about.

so still not on yobit

they still resync the blockchain
It took me 3 1/2 days to resync the blockchain. that is absolutely crazy! That is why i don't buy more HBN.

HBN desperately needs some love. YoBit won't make much of a difference without some quality dev care.

Is the Yobit listing going ever to happen?

The guys who paid for TEK to get listed on YoBit had to nag and nag.  Check the semi-recent pages of TEK thread for details and excuses etc.

The coin count itself does not really matter. Each 'coin', or unspent transaction out, has value represented in 64 bits. Whether it is 100 coins or 1 million coins, it will occupy the same 64 bits, the only difference is where the 0's and 1's are placed.

The amount of blocks and the algorithm are really the biggest determining factors.

Hmm,
So in your Opinion would an Algo switch to say X15 or groestl decrease the memory usage , or would a chain swap be required to see the full benefit of such a switch in Algo.

Hmm I don't know why you would choose x15 to decrease resources, I mean it is using 15 different hashing algos so it would be pretty intensive. Not sure about groestls footprint. I do know that both sha256 and blake are both very light weight. Scrypt not as light weight.

The algorithm really only slows you down when you are either syncing the chain, or checking a block that has just been added to the network. The issue is almost entirely with the size of the chain and the fact that there are several things indexed for each block that are stored in memory.

Thanks for the first wave, you are great at it, your journal was one of the reasons that reassured me to stay in HBN, time for a second wave?

Possibly. I am considering something for hobonickels to breath life back into the project.

i m reading tokyoghetto hbn journal   dam i did not know that hbn get over 30000sat on the past  Grin
what happen , it s not the dead of cryptsy what put the price so low because it was already under 2000sat

now this coins is definitely unevaluated, there are worse coins with 4 digit satochi value

does i have a bug in my wallet ?
because i notice i have a block of 3719 hbn that won't stake  age of 64days old  potential stake 649 (but max is 250 i think)

when i sow that around 40days i ask my self, should i split it, but if i do i lose the age, it s gonna stake soon   but it s don't lol
