That translates to 722.4 hours in a month. (24 hours * 4.3 weeks * 7 days)
722.4*2.4 = $1,733.76

The 16 CPU would be $866.88 @ $1.2/hour

I used to get the .. c3.xlarge (l8 cores, 10GB RAM?... the "budget" CPU server).. I guess maybe I shouldn't say this if it's ever profitable again, but you could always get those @ spot price for .07c in US East (I had 100 running on multiple occasions).

Haven't tried them with this (& they arent worth it anymore with any other coins at current prices)

ed: oh, did you get a promo at wholesaleinternet or just regular prices?  i have about 30 servers, but a lot of them i keep, like the $39 e3-1230's that online.net stuck on oneprovider

I have been using these on memorycoin. Really doesn't pay. Still didn't find any blocks with 32 CPUs working at it.  One of the biggest problems is that the daemon constantly crashes so you are just wasting money.

At .07 how long did you typically retain the server for? Just 1 hour or multiple hours?  How do you setup the storage so you don't lose the data when the spot ends?

Epic fail launch. So much for 48 hours ramp up when it was forked right after and new client doesn't even work for most people.

That's it, I'm not going to smell this coin again. It stinks badly! Not that it all started poorly with all the premined coins, 6% of mined coins going to developers, software crashing, blockchain not syncing correctly, had fubar difficulty targeting,... Well, now it's official that (most likely) one of existent protoshares pools started mining, if not one of developers. I wouldn't be surprised if they (PTS pools and developers) are tightly connected.

From now on, developers should consider 3 things before releasing anything. 1. Working pool, 2. working miner and 3. working wallet. This is fiasco.

PS. I'm sure damage control will make pool available in 12 hours or so. Well, I'm out anyway.

Worst coin ever, mined for 3 days on 3 machines an nothing... nothing but constantly having to restart and resync the blockchain as they go out of sync... client is a joke...

...and ~10% pre-mine, already loads of coins out there for random devs, admins, presidents and what not.

I'm going back to Doge, seems more serious and profitable.

Actually the client is open source and the hash algorithm is known. So everyone skilled enough can write a miner and make profit. It is not such a difficult task. The question is will it be worth to invest time and effort in it.

Usually until I terminated them... uh, there was like one place in East where you didn't want to drop your .072c servers.... so I'd specifically select like the 'd' or 'c' subnet or w/e.   I never tried to run any during afternoon-evening hours in US, it was mostly around 2am-10am, so it's possible that there's more competition later, I'm not sure

Anyway, I did it for as cheap as possible.  Didn't have any extra storage besides the 8GB.  

I used a script to get them running, the most time consuming element was waiting for the spot instances to be filled and then manually putting the IP addresses into putty (couldnt figure a way past that, had to input the last 2 #'s and rarely a 208 instead of a 209 as 2nd)... once I actually got on the server, it was essentially automated.  for minerd, with ubuntu 13.10, you only have to grab a few things + minerd itself.  protoshares takes a bit longer since you have to get libboost


(and I got a block here, with about 50hash/min total)

Ever hear of cloud mining? Your 2 systems vs 1 guy with 100 cloud servers that each are probably 5 times faster than yours.

But the coin was released exackly 4 weeks ago! If it was released a few weeks ago it still fast! People are still solo mining!
Did you started mining bitcoins or litecoins the same day it was out? come on!

Btw i get almost 0.5 DTC per day with a i3 laptop while also using it!
