I don’t understand what is the big deal, it was a very good attempt to activate Proof of Service payments directly from block rewards and that has never been done before. Actually the problem is minor and was found within an hour of reverting to non payment and everybody can understand what the problem was it is clear and logical so it should be easy to resolve. I think communication could have been better and panic could have been avoided, I am sure that a lot of people that sold, wouldn’t have done it if they had the information we have now.

The reason Evan said 2 - 3 weeks is because he is being cautious we cant really set a date and push it back, doing it sooner than the expected date is perceived as positive like when we moved the hard fork date from the 27th to the 20th, so under promise and over deliver.  Once we activate payments again this will be the most robust solution out there. This is like developing a prototype with everybody watching, you can not panic at every little hurdle, it is clear that the Darkcoin development team prioritizes the quality of the coin over the short-term price and that is very reassuring to me as an investor.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Friendly neighbourhood Slapper at your service again.

This is the MOST impressive coin and community launched in 2014 BY FAR. I still can't believe my luck on having discovered this thread in the middle of an ocean of shit and clonecoins. I did increase my position again but I was surreptitiously counting on a bigger gain. That didn't happen. It seems pump/dump and weak hands are completely gone from this coin. Imagine any other coin with a 2nd snafu. It would get crushed.

There are some really smart people backing this coin.

Yesterday's RC3 event is a blessing in disguise for Darkcoin.

 - the devs have learned exactly now to fine tune the masternode handling for 100% stability
 - RC3 was a major improvement on RC2 in stability of hard fork launch
 - testnet is getting a major revamp and extended in scope and scale
 - 2 new devs being brought on board

 - "DRKLord brings about 10 years of experience with C, C++, x84/64 ASM and many other skills to the team"
 - "CHAOSiTEC is a long time Darkcoin supporter with extensive knowledge of cryptocurrency and programming"

Setbacks are ok if they ultimately lead to progress and growth in scope and knowledge by the dev team. That appears to be exactly what's happening here.

This coin is going places for sure.

+1. The coin's long term prospects are looking stronger all the time.

call it "live debugging session" If theres no bugs then great, success! And if we find a bug, great, successful debugging session!
respect the psychology of the situation... No more FAILS.... Fails are not acceptable any more... The people don't have the patience for that!

"Live debugging session" sounds a great idea.  Whist we're on the subject of the psyychology of naming stuff, I really still think Darkcoin should change its name - the success depends not only on the privacy features but on widespread real-world adoption of the coin in sales and transactions. There's lots of bad vibes about the darknet, and whilst Darkcoin is not related to the darknet, there will be psychological barriers to adoption with the name.  In a few years I could see places like Mothercare using Bitcoin for example, but Darkcoin?  We need to push for maximum widespread use to maximise value of this coin.

The way I understood, evan and others are now building a huge network in testnet, with several hundred daemons etc.

So this is not just for the current bugfixing, it will be a great platform for any further development and quality management.

Ahh, yeah, great point. Codes are 1 thing, getting them humming in a more realistic stress environment will help with future releases as well.

A brief analysis from our side:

The last attempt to introduce RC3 was not successful yesterday, as many notice here.
The level of explications are going lower in quality on each loop.

Few days ago a bug with the voting system, (found by a 3rd party). Yesterday nobody view that is possible create two block at almost relative same time with the same hash, and said that will be difficult to predict on testnet. (it happen all the time).

I'm fine with all this drama, but it's unacceptable wait 2-3 weeks more to fix and test other BASIC things.

it's going too far, 2-3 weeks is the perfect time to capture new noobs, and this is unacceptable (to make another clean and dump with them). It can't be the path for success.

eCash was a product more advanced by that time than many of the alt-coins now, including DRK, and it fail because they made the wrong things and start playing with the market. (Please take the time to read a previous article from this forum about eCash: http://cryptome.org/jya/digicrash.htm)

If somebody said here that DRK is different, will be like "I will never get cancer", "I will never get a ticket", "I will never have an accident".

Do not extend 2-3 weeks the release. . It's not about introduce more pressure to developers, is about the reality.
They accept to create and run this concept, they know the consequences if they continue doing wrong (both, on real life and on crypto world).

To be honest, there is no real competition outside at the moment (that's why I'm 100% DRK), but it's just temporal, there are a lot of people outside working with good ideas, and the DRK advantage is loosing importance every day. DRK could end as eCash v2.0

+101

I've held the same view about the name for a few months. I suggested waiting until the price reached $20m. But it happened so fast and we went beyond it that I missed the boat on reminding people  Grin

You are an idiot. Dev team can do whatever they want. If they say it takes 6 months until the next fix that's how it is. If you don't like it, then sell your coins.

Thanks to treat the DRK supporters on this way.
In 6 months , DRK on RC2 will not have any value.
