The DRK mined in the first few weeks have been widely distributed.

see

http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/FAQ#Was_Darkcoin_Instamined.3F

also see,

http://wiki.darkcoin.eu/wiki/FAQ

to dispel any of the other fraudulent claims some people make against Darkcoin.
They are just trying to manipulate people , the market knows the true value of DRK just look at the buy support on cryptsy or mintpal.

How old do I have to be so I have to generate the money back?  Roll Eyes

How many Darkcoins can you mine approximate per day with this rig ( 4 x R9 270 )? I belive not enough and dont forget the costs of electricity!

I dont run 270s myself but the newest sgminers seem to pull ~2.1mh  (YMMV) so @8.4mh you'd pull in approx 0.20291872 drk per
day at the current diff (4163.71557343).

So using those number (which will change constantly but to give you an idea) would set you @ 985.61 days to make the 200 dark back.

Hmm, you could have 8 270s for 114 DRK on the same site... they'd probably do you a nice bulk deal too... Tongue

Keeping my other 4 to chuck at testnet until my 750Ti's turn up.

Of course the problem with darkbids is that nobody wants to part with their precious DRK. Although I'm very tempted by the crystal ball on there but int'l shipping is a pain in the arse.

Not to mention that Coin is out for 6 months, during which it had massive volume, only LTC and DOGE had bigger.
That speaks volume Wink

Yes, I think so.

Also you should 'chmod +x darkcoin-qt', not 'chmod +x ./darkcoin-qt'

Also you should 'chmod +x darkcoin-qt', not 'chmod +x ./darkcoin-qt'

doesn't make a difference as the "." refers to the current directory.

DRK so undervalued right now. Real price considering mining cost should be around 0.03-0.04

Price is solely dependent on the master node payments success short term wise.

When mining DRK you just have to think ahead a bit... Everyone kept telling me it was unprofitable, yet here I am, happy as a dog in a sidecar.

You always have to consider how many DRKs you'd get if you mined something else, sold it and bought DRK.

If you can get twice the number of DRKs that way => why not... except the logistics of moving around the mining power all the time instead of leaving it @ DRK.

The price of a coin should naturally gravitate towards its mining cost. If it costs >0.03 to mine and the price is 0.0165, that's good for price potential. It's also good in terms of using mining power elsewhere and buying DRKs off the market - creating demand. The opposite is the case when others are mining you for being the most profitable and then dumping the coins / suppressing the price.
