Thinking of starting a Masternode?

My guide "TAO'S MASTERNODE SETUP GUIDE FOR DUMMIES" has finally (sorry) been updated to include the very important Masternode.conf file, so if you use that guide you will be sure to have the very latest information:

https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/taos-masternode-setup-guide-for-dummies-updated.2680/

Happy Masternoding!

Thanks TAO, I'll have to set this up later. I'm still running on the old dash.conf I believe. Your guide is truly a golden nugget for every masternode op. There wouldn't be 3848+ masternodes without it!

Hello all!
Yesterday I saw that the dash daemon got updated and that version 0.12.0.58 is required for masternode operators. Is there a way to be notified when a new version is released? Had I not been out looking on dash.org yesterday than I would still be running 0.12.0.56 today.

Are there any announcement features on the dash forums? I don't recall seeing anything on twitter either. Should we look into having some notifications via the git repository?
How do you other keep up to date on whenever a new client / daemon is released?

I haven't heard anything about this either.  I saw the guys talking about amended versions, but I thought it was only for website operators, with something for querying or something that wasn't important for regular users/MNs ??  Can anyone please tell us if we indeed need to update?

I don't think it can be such a big deal if nobody has announced it here yet.  You probably can safely wait until we get an official announcement.  It never goes that fast anyway Smiley

Hello everyone,

Latest few releases (0.12.0.57 and 0.12.0.58) were for maintenance purposes mainly, so there were no official announces from the team. Using 0.12.0.56 is completely fine for most users so far.

If however you have some issues running current version of Dash Core which were mentioned on github releases page https://github.com/dashpay/dash/releases (please read full changelog there) or if you just want to use the very latest and hopefully the most stable one - please feel free to update. No protocol bump, no cold wallet MN start command issuing needed, should be fully compatible.

Cheers!

I have the electrum light wallet for Dash. I've only used it once - to receive from exchange and send to a masternode shares service. Today when I opened it for the first time since then it opened an unknown wallet - with no history, but strangely already encrypted (so perhaps not a new wallet?) by a password which definitely wasn't one of mine.

Fortunately I was able to restore my wallet from seed but I am deeply perplexed about what just happened.

Btw I did download it directly from dash.org not from somewhere else.

ICEBREAKER, buddy, I still need your help. Please de-anonymize this transaction that was obscured by the "flawed CoinJoin implementation" that has "not been peer-reviewed" and help me to figure out the source address of these funds! The good news is that it only went through four rounds of this "DarkSend," so it will be orders of magnitude easier to figure out than if it had been through all eight. Thank goodness for small miracles!

Please help me figure this out! It's URGENT!!!

Dash De-anonymization Contest

Icebreaker and other trolleros: I have donated $1 to Monero's development team. I sent 0.25 Dash (TX ID: 59d51690d4b56ddbf1e393fa8d3a49bcfc3247f270f36be3b6ee411802666cba-000) to shapeshift.io, which converted it to Bitcoin and sent it to the official Monero donation address listed at https://getmonero.org/getting-started/donate/.

I challenge you to de-anonymize this transaction. To make it just a little easier, I only used four rounds of Darksend, so it's exponentially less private than it would be with the maximum eight rounds.

Please tell me what address this transaction originated from.

Cheers!

I am not sure if this is a question or just a statement Smiley

You are asked to set a password at installation time

If you choose to leave the fields empty leaves your wallet unencrypted - which is highly discouraged. It's hard to tell if you set a password and simply forgot about it.

Maybe you've created a second wallet and forget about your default_wallet? How was the wallets name in the top bar?

Lol, yeah it was a semi-question - just sharing my experience in case it was a problem which I didn't cause myself in which case I thought others should know. I guess its possible that I set a password on the default wallet and then forgot about it and for some reason created a second wallet, although that doesn't explain what happened to that second wallet which I had to restore from seed.

Have not run into this in the past when voting from the client.    Voted on one proposal then tried another and got this message using the Vote-Many command.   Waited a good 15 minutes and still getting this message.

 "......" : {"result" : "time between votes is too soon - 198c2be3e156c2a.......6a5f66acf4bba1 - 1537\n"

Version info:
Dash Core version v0.12.0.56-7154cdf (64-bit)

How long do you have to wait?

You should be able to vote on a proposal you haven't voted yet without any timeout. Check the hash/proposal again - probably you already voted.
To cast new vote on the same proposal you need to wait 1h iirc.

EDIT:
btw, have anyone noticed this recently?

Anyone know what I can do with a Free month of Node40 Masternode that I won at Dashpaymagazine? I certainly don't have the 1000 coins.

Is it just a coupon code? If so you could sell it to someone on here for a discounted rate. Many people host with Node40.
