however it would be wrong to unnecessarily restrict the capacity of any blockchain in order to favor off chain solutions. Which is what is currently happening to Bitcoin.

I think this is the crux of the problem...Core won't let Bitcoin scale even slightly, because then LN would be a little bit less necessary. Maybe in time something better than LN would be discovered, which would bankrupt Blockstream.

From the sound of it, the whole thing is simply designed to enrich Blockstream, and miners will do nothing about it. But that's the problem I guess--all power is in the hands of the miners, which is an incredibly stupid way to build a decentralized currency.
Exactly! Some say Bitcoin is decentralized but it really isn't. There's only one possible centralization vector in 1st generation coins like Bitcoin, which deposit the decentralization hopes on POW and Moore's law and that's mining. Clearly it's a lost battle already when a handfull of people decide the majority mining software.
Talk about Bilderberg and Rotchilds... lol they're more decentralized than Bitcoin... there are competing factions within those groups  Roll Eyes
I am not not sure how this will play out. The theory behind POW governance is good and could still work, however this is a unprecedented test of decentralized governance. Mining in Bitcoin is not necessarily as centralized as some people might think it is. Especially if we consider the pools to be like a form of representative democracy for the miners. However if it turns out that the governance mechanisms within Bitcoin are fundamentally flawed, I would consider Dash to be the most likely cryptocurrency that has solved these problems of decentralized governance, through the implementation of a self funding blockchain combined with collateralized and incentivized voting full nodes.

The problem with governance by POW is the fact that not all users of the ecosystem are miners. Exchanges, payment processors, and end-users are all important parts of the ecosystem and effectively have absolutely no say at all in how Bitcoin is run. This has led to a misalignment of incentives where miners can easily act against the best interests of other Bitcoin stakeholders. Unfortunately, Satoshi abandoned the project before these unintended consequences came to light.

Meanwhile BTC, Flat as a flounder, oops O_O It just went up $1!!!!

"Flat as the beaten coin?" or take your pick

I kind of find it exciting the Bitcoin is becoming so stable.  It kind of means that crypto currencies are becoming more stable as a whole, or at least that it's possible for them to stabilize.  If this becomes the norm, more merchants may find it less frightening to deal in crypto, as well as possibly even keep their funds in crypto??? I'm sure that's years off still, but yah, would be cool!

It won't be stable for long. Bitcoin is currently at the very end of a six month symmetric triangle and a massive breakout is expected (in one direction or the other!).

12.1 (July 2016)

a project that takes commands like "masternode create 'name123'", "group create name blah" (sentinel)
a core update that uses generic governance objects (12.1-core-gov)
a decoupling layer between sentinel and dash-core (mysql database relational layout / crontabs / classes / objects)
a trigger system which allows sentinel sybil-proof secure control over the entire network (governance-misc.h)
a trigger system which can send payments, ban blocks, ban users, update settings
a scriptable, easy to understand turing complete python implementation for controling the network (brain.py)
various signaling methods between masternode network and governance objects (fund, end, valid, failure, endorsed, outerstorage)
support for users, groups, companies, contracts, proposals, projects, project-milestones and project-reports (classes.py)

Doesn't this imply that the basic deterministic wallet and payment by name will be implemented by July?

No it does not imply that. It refers to new parameters that are part of the next iteration of the governance system to make it more complete and flexible.

If the BTC rise is slow and steady, I think that it would be VERY good for DASH price. A huge BTC pump could do some serious damage to most alts, but I think judging by the number of masternodes, the vast majority of DASH investors (me included) are very long on DASH.

BTC missed the pattern significant brake out point by almost a week. Haven't seen such that often.
It breaks out up.  Now I wonder how strong that break out will be if it is more than just a slight exhaust.

DASH has become so expensive. It's no joy to buy it.

I need some good potential "trash" coins that gives me a large number for the BTC's just to get a goody old rich feeling.

i'm pretty much at 24GB / 28GB outbound per month (4% of available 1000GB) and have set a limitation on connections
with command maxconnections=250 in dash.conf

I did all that! The crappy thing is I can't log in, since it's suspended, so I can't even try to check the debug.log or anything. Nor can I see my usage graph.

Qwizzie: 1000 GB per month. I've been running MNs for almost two years now with zero problems...it's really bizarre. Plus Vultr basically accuses me of launching an attack? WTF?

Write to them and tell them what you're running, and ask them to reopen your server.  They simply profiled you, and are mistaken.  If you are not running a tor exit node, and just running a masternode, that does NOT violate their terms of service as far as I can see reading it here.
