The three sponsors will request funding for this from Dash’s decentralized budget system over a period of four months at the coin’s price at the time of the purchase, $2.42.  This will work out to 2,100 DASH per month over the four month period.

This was paid off many months ago. If the budget system is going to keep any credibility the dash.org domain needs to be transfered to the community that paid for it. Getting duffed by Evan is bad enough. Voting for a budget and paying over 20k for the privilege is even worse.

Here are few facts:
- Neither masternode owners, nor community as a whole paid for the domain with _their own_ money, network generated _new coins_ to compensate expenses of few core team members who paid upfront.
- In real world you need someone to be listed as domain owner.
- Infrastructure (domain included) _is_ managed by several well-known community members, not by Evan only. Obviously, you can't give an access to infrastructure to each and every community member or masternode owner, some things just doesn't work that way.
- None of us is happy it took so long to recover. The recent issue (and btw, it was two different issues which happened almost at the same time actually) revealed the fact that the process was not organized very well. Now when it's known, team is working to improve it and going to setup few fallback and automated recovery options. The actual solutions are still being discussed though to find the best combination because some of them could be costly.

seriously guys, I really don't understand this obsession with "masternode all time high"

Please explain me why "more masternodes" is better? Imagine the extreme: 6900 masternodes (almost all coins locked up)
Is that a good situation? It shows to the non-dashers that a maximum of 6900 people own (almost) ALL the coins. And we know that a lot of people own more than one masternode, so it's significantly less people.
It also is easy to see that "the rich will be getting richer" because people owning 1000 DASH get more DASH. Someone owning ~5 masternodes are able to get a new masternode every year, increasing their stash of DASH even more.
And then there is this huge centralization of masternodes in just a few companies, which is also a big risk for spying governments.



So please, can you explain why "more masternodes" is a good thing?

edit: I wonder if Poloniex (and other exchanges) run masternodes themselves with "excess coins". It's possible for sure. I wouldn't even count on the notion that all those masternodes are "locked up coins". If someone wants to dump some coins he already has on an exchange, some masternode(s) can go offline.
 

Edit: someone pointed out you need 12 masternodes in stead of 5 to get a new one every year. Ok, maybe I was wrong on that detail. But it doesn't change the conclusions I made.

I remember hearing some news on "the Crypto show" in regards to Bipcoin getting a GUI.
