LOL, it's raining here.  You can tell how seldom we get rain, by listining to the neighborhood, from all directions children and adults alike, all exclaiming "It's RAINING!"

Of course it'd be a sprinkle in Texas, but here it's a pretty good rain, LOL.  Still was in the low 80's today (better than 110, though)

Happy rain day everyone!

One immediate problem with any new currency is how to value it. Even ignoring the practical problem that virtually no one will accept it at first, there is still a difficulty in coming up with a reasonable argument in favor of a particular non-zero value for the coins.

As an amusing thought experiment, imagine that Darkcoin is successful and becomes the dominant payment system in use throughout the world. Then the total value of the currency should be equal to the total value of all the wealth in the world. Current estimates of total worldwide household wealth that I have found range from $100 trillion to $300 trillion. With ~20 million coins, that gives each coin a value of about $10 million.

So the possibility of generating coins today with a few cents of compute time may be quite a good bet, with a payoff of something like 100 million to 1! Even if the odds of Darkcoin succeeding to this degree are slim, are they really 100 million to one against? Something to think about...

I guess you won't sell unless it gets to 100,000,000 guvpapers to 1 drk, eh?  LOL.  Certainly, since we're so ahead of the game, we ought to see near parity to Bitcoin, IMO.

BTW, I honestly never knew girls could have such large behinds, LOL.  You know monkeys and apes look at the rear end for sexual stimulation, and I believe women developed larger breasts (from selection) because we tend to face each other when having sex.... tend to, LOL.  But I also like rear ends on guys, my hubby has a cute one Wink

This part has never worked for me "wget http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc/darkcoind"...  So I just use an FTP client to drop it in...
Right click the download link on the darkcoin.io website, pick copy URL/file location or some such.

Switch to ssh/console window connected to your remote machine.

CTRL SHIFT V - poof, correct url. Just punch home "wget " and hit enter. Easy.

If you're using putty, fuck all. I ahve no idea how to help you if you're on a commercial OS, I haven't used one of those for over a decade...

Basically, wget just fetches a url like typing into your browser. If you see it in the address line of your browser, type the same thing... Or copy-paste it however your platform does it. You can sometimes end up with goofy filenames if the server you're getting the file from uses dynamic stuffs... it might save the filename with line options, you'll just have to rename it is all.

I used to awk/grep pages I pulled with wget, such as whatismyip.com's home page, before there were handy dyndns drivers and stuff... It's a handy way to get around pain in the butts like that.

Ya for extra security I go through console via the Digital Ocean website, that has 2FA on it.  I have a dynamic IP from my ISP so I use the csf -a command to add my temporary IP to all my nodes before I do any maintenance...

OzzieCoin turned off all ports bar 9999 on my masternodes.  This is the first time I'm going it alone without him hand holding me.

Seeing that you're being so helpful, at some stage I need to remove those IP addresses that I'm adding.  For the one's I remember I know there's the -r command for csf, however for the ones I haven't remembered how do I get a list of all IP addresses I've manually added using csf -a...

Thanks to everyone for helping me, I really appreciate it...
To remove, use CSF -ar

List is found at nano /etc/CSF/CSF.allow

I think the current model may have to evolve a bit on the way, I'm not sure a mere ten or twenty thousand cheapo VPS's would be enough to handle the entire global economy. MN owners might have to shell out for a bit more hardware oomph. Wink

Yup, I'm already looking into how to upgrade my services.  We'll have to have a minimum requirement eventually if Masternodes are to host things like the block chain, exchanges, auction sites, etc... And to make it work, it can't be a choice.  They have to serve to earn their keep.

Congrats, I think I noticed an increase in incoming payments too.  Probably won't last, and  I have so little hash power it doesn't really matter, LOL.  But I hash away when I can, as long as I can still use my computer ;P

Where do I get the Darkcoin Accepted Here logo?

The link at https://www.darkcoin.io/getstarted.html# just points to the existing page.

For that matter, some central repo of official artwork in decent sizes and useful formats would be excellent.

I also have hi-res versions (as well as icons, hi-res and vector versions of the logo) available here: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=59FF30B584DFA85E&id=59FF30B584DFA85E!4823
It's about the closest thing to an official repository we have right now. I'll be adding more stuff soon.
