How can I determine the speed of the network in specific practical algorithms?
If I understand correctly, in sha about 60 Th/s

From the 'getmininginfo' command I get:

Quote
  "difficulty_sha256d": 7183376.892611442,
  "difficulty_scrypt": 1927.887615271912,

which you can translate to hash per second I think as:
networkhashps = diff*14436620

So I get for network hashrates:
Sha = 104 Th/s
Scrypt = 27 Gh/s

For frame of reference, these values are about 3% of the bitcoin network and 1% of the litecoin network, respectively. It's kind of weird, Myriadcoin, which also merge mines both sha and scrypt (in addition to three other non merge-mined algos) has about 10x higher hashrate on sha and 15 or 20x higher on scrypt. Not sure why it would get so much more merged hash...

This also makes it more difficult to have some kind of "diplomacy feature" in Huntercoin. If 2 hunters would agree to not attack each other and, should one still kill the other,  automatically pay compensation to the victim (must be worth more than a hunter, different technical problem), how can the game engine know who attacked first.

For such a truce pact feature, you could just require that only one attacks the other.  If both attack each other, noone gets any money.  The compensation payment will give an incentive to the one who's being attacked to not attack themselves, so it should work out.

Yes, this would be the easiest way, and probably not gameable

I've actually thought a bit more about the issue here, and I think it might indeed be possible to use a delay here (as suggested by Bitcoin Co-Op).  The idea is that we advance the game state only every N blocks, using all transactions confirmed in the last N blocks (considered to be at the same time).  Then even if some miners do not like your transactions, you are fine as long as any one picks it, which should be fine unless a big chunk of the hash rate colludes against your transaction (and assuming the "attacking" miners are not actually in the majority and orphaning blocks just for this purpose).  An issue here is that players are incentivised to wait until the last block in the time window, since then they can best react on others moves (but then it is their problem to balance this with transaction confirmation).

Note that I don't think any miner is actually attacking any players in this way - this is mostly theoretical.

Players would be incentivised to wait until they have seen the others moves, but to wait until the last block in the time window is a dangerous strategy. It would be a game of chicken, trying to make the opponent to reveal their moves.

But depends on the game. If moves are not simultaneous, like in most turn based games, then one side can have their move at block 10, 20, 30 etc, and the other side moves at block 15, 25, 35.

Myriadcoin doesn't have a game to feed Tongue
Imho if the block time is higher (5 minutes per algo for Myriadcoin) this also translates into higher nominal difficulty.

Good point. I actually just grabbed formula for myriadcoin diff from a bot I run that includes block time in formula, so these numbers might be off by a factor of 2.5 or so, will check again later tonight.

OK, so formula is:
Code:
hashrate = difficulty * (2^256 / max_target / intended_time_per_block)
from here: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/5556/relationship-between-hash-rate-and-difficulty

Assuming max_target is the same and intended time per block is 120 s, we get:
Code:
hashrate = difficutly * 35791940

So for current diffs:
Quote
  "difficulty_sha256d": 5773869.380021635,
  "difficulty_scrypt": 1924.028806886702,

Sha hashrate = 207 Th/s
Scrypt hashrate = 68.9 Gh/s

The diffs changed a bit from earlier calculation, but these are more or less double (should be a bit more than double). I'm not sure why Myriadcoin not having a game soaking up 80% of coins makes it more attractive to merge mine for ASIC owners. It does have three other algos for GPUs and CPUs soaking up 60% of coins, and free coins are free coins, right?

I started playing and I have no idea what I am doing I only just figured out I can't collect the clear coins till they have gone solid. I think that means they under respawn ? I saw a red star and walked on to it then made coffee and came back and I disappeared. I assumed I died. Why ? Did the star kill me ? Also how do I sed my coins back to my wallet ? It says I must find a bank that respawns but where ? What do they look like ?

A short guide from anyone would be much appreciated.

The red stars are banks. The coins used to make your Hunter and any coins he/she was carrying are returned to your wallet when you go over it.

Ok cool yes I am just getting use to the game. I stayed out of pvp he came towards me because I spawned near many HUC so it was attractive fo other players. What is the max HUC one coin on the map can produce ? Very cool game nice way to run a wallet xD The wallet is a game.

if you ran the version with pruned the chain then it wont work for your old wallet. i had the same problem.

i had to get the other version without the pruned chain (check OP), then i sync'd from scratch (took a few days), then replaced with old wallet, it rescanned and all was good.

Well it should start with pruned and sync with your wallet but from scratch.. but running in pruned mode you cant switch out wallets whenever you want, the sync pruned node only will work with the wallet you sync with from block 0.

PS

This also applies to bitcoin nodes as well.

So here is a question, running a pruned node with a backup of my wallet.dat. Today i loaded it back up and showing 0.00 balance and it sync with 5 connections, thing is i had over 1k hucs and now 0. With 500 transactions in the wallet.dat file.

Here is the blockchain explore address.

Is my copy of the blockchain corrupt or the wallet.dat and lost my hucs or what.

I can already see how "huntercoin" slowly but surely turning into "motocoin".
For those who do not understand how it is, I explain. This means that very soon this coin will not be worth anything!

Just checked this with 2 old player name addresses of hunters (re-used about 60-70 time each).
According to www.huntercoin.info/blockExplorer, both still have more than 2k HUCs.
I couldn't recover these HUCs by importing privkey and rescanning.

Probably they're not real. blockExplorer is based on Abe and knows nothing about coins locked in names. Perhaps used player name addresses always show up with imaginatory coins after the hunter is dead (more with each re-use).

edit: the amount of not real coins in blockExplorer is not (locked_coins * times_reused), but less

Well i redownloaded the entire block chain from scratch ~ 16 gb (full node) and still have 0 coins.. Oh well i made my BTC off them twice, so no biggie but going to be hard to trust HUC now seeing coins can just disappear after x amount of transactions or what ever happened to them.

Now this is interesting its only showing on transactions tab 95 transactions and the last is showing 12/17/2016, blah who knows i don't think i can trust a prune node for +2 months of transactions.

If anyone wants i'll  post the entire transactions table (wall of text)

I hope you're joking, of course the coins don't disappear.

If anything it's the online block explorer that is buggy.

Well all i can tell you is i made a new wallet.dat with the new huntercore QT ran it for 2 months in pruned mode, one day (this week) i closed and updated windows reload qt and wallet showed 0.00 hucs when before i closed it had near 1300 hucs.

Seeing i always make backups of the wallet.dat i copied over the wallet.dat file from backup after deleting the old 1 when qt wasn't running. pasted the backup copy and ran qt. It loaded still showing 0.00 hucs. So unless some magic fairy came and took them away by night, what happened to them?

Also with a full node/pruned, huntercore has been bugged since day one not showing any transactions correctly with 0.00 (n/a) each transactions.

This could be a bug, either way not saving my hucs (large amount) on my wallet nor am i running a pruned node anymore.
