Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Good Afternoon folks,

I read a ton on here but just today created an acocunt so i can intruduce myself.

I started mining in Early January just goofing around with scrypting. Was fun so within a week i purchased 3 Sapphire 7950's, New Mobo, CPU and PSU. It has been pretty much running ever since. I have had a ton of fun with getting the max of of the config but also working on keeping the watts draw down as much as possible.

I started out Mining some other coins but jumped on GPU's since the launch. I have been running GPU's 100% of the time since launch. On top of that i have purchased about 1.5 million on exchanges. I will be sticking with this coin for the long haul.

I've been mining this coin continuously since launch with my Asus R9 270x, only have about 180k coins.  I settled on buying the 270x as my old Radeon 4890 was not cutting it for games anymore, but was really looking at a 280x when prices were sky high.  I bought the 270x at $240 off amazon and then promptly lost my job the next day.  First few days I spent mining random coins until I found the announcement that this coin would be launching soon.  I spent the rest of the time making sure my card wasn't a dud, it kept giving me artifacts on the desktop for a few days, but finally settled down and only firefox/palemoon show artifacts, but from what I have read that is due to the browser itself.  I would love to see this coin become profitable, it just feels like a good concept

If you happen to be running the 14.x beta catalyst drivers they are solid but do cause artifacts on desktop and in browsers. Known bug with the driver. I'm only running them cause I have the THIEF game that uses the mantle API and boy does it offer a performance increase!!!

waltsmith

I am running 13.12

I found a config for regular scrypt that the 270x can hit 500kh/s stable, I just can't get it to translate to scrypt-n, best I get is 230kh/s which is 20kh/s lower than I would like, but I'll deal with it.  I also found a workaround to driver crashes/low hashrates.  Device Manager > disable adapter and then re-enable it and your low hashrate should go back to normal once you reload vertminer/cgminer/sgminer.

I am fairly new at this mining stuff and wish I had gotten into mining back when Bitcoin launched when I first heard about it.  I attempted it, but at the time felt it was just too difficult and dropped off.  I think, at the time, Bitcoin was worth $0.10.  I am really kicking myself about that.

I wouldn't mind seeing your scrypt config.  I am getting 480 on my 270's and 490 on my 270x's right now, so pretty close but wouldn't mind a bit more.

I found the config here: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogemining/comments/1yx086/500_khash_with_270x_no_hw_stable/ and tested it, it worked for me, I just don't like running my 270x's memory that high for too long

Thanks, I might give it a try.  If you want to run it a little easier, I am getting 490kh from mine but not running as hard at that.  I am at Engine 1130, Memclock 1250, TC 5121.

seriously, would you go to all this trouble just to get a gpu  (if you were not already into crypto's) ?

If the savings were decent (15-20%), likely yeah, as long as it was as simple as $->Coinbase->GPUC. I don't use this coin personally though, if I want GPUs I buy Amazon gift cards at 20% under market value, and then buy off Amazon at or below MSRP and get a super discount.

This.. people need simplest way possible to convert $ into GPUC directly..

What I described is the simplest legal method. The owner of the company can't do it himself without crossing into new tax boundaries and more, much more, regulation overhead. If he wants to commit suicide, then  yes he could.

Thanks, I might give it a try.  If you want to run it a little easier, I am getting 490kh from mine but not running as hard at that.  I am at Engine 1130, Memclock 1250, TC 5121.

270's are amazing. My group has them running 495-500 solid with 0 HW errors, some of my folks even have them 510-520kh which is nuts awesome. So far, MSI has shown to be the most stable brand. Sapphire/Gigabyte has been a mix. The TOXIC 280X is also great, if you don't mind doing some tweaking to the bios, you can run it 750-780 at 175-200watts. Out of the box it'll do 805-820 @ 320-350w.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for all the thoughts / suggestions.  I assure you that I am reading them and will make sure the CEO hears them.

I just finished up some upgrades to the market place
   - Dynamically calculated pricing (USD->GPUC every 15 minutes)
   - Instant Approval System (sellers can now be authorized to post items instantly)
   - Improved messaging systems (emails go out now + more buttons to message members)

http://gpucoinmarket.com

In regards to marketing, I am with you 100%.  I have been focusing on the web side of things and plan on devoting more effort to that side now that things are up and running.  If you have any interest in helping please PM me.

Thanks for the update, and for all your hard work.  Would it be possible to put the price in USD next to the cards in the storefront?  Others have mentioned this, and it seems like a good idea to those people that might night speak crypto.  I calculate the 280x at $382, which it great...and what was promised, but the value is not clear to those that visit the site.

I'm sure there are others trying to get this thing off the ground, but it's your work we can see, and you do a good job of keeping us in the loop.

You know, I just thought of a great idea to get this coin rolling, all the people that read, follow, and support this coin, but rarely or have never posted here, please post and introduce yourselves! We all would love to meet you and hear any comments that you may have. Also, I personally have had 4 280x's pointed exclusively at GPUC since launch, and yeah, i'm talking I solved like 5 blocks at oakpool when the reward was still 1 coin. But, the troubles we have had are just not helping buy pressure at all. I'm considering pointing two of my cards at litecoin, dogecoin, vertcoin or some such other high volume coin that I can mine and dump and move the BTC over to put buy pressure up on gpucoin, not even necessarily buying it outright, just putting up the highest bid, and letting the dumpers sell to me. I'll probably get more coin, and boost the price. The only hesitation I have is that the network hash is so low right now. But, I'm thinking that if we watch it carefully, in a couple days we could boost the price and volume all by ourselves, even on our small exchanges, without any help, and that will bring back a few miners when the price goes up some, etc. What y'all think?

waltsmith

You know one idea is.. maybe we can switch over to POS, and then setup a reverse-multipool like BC.. Smiley

Micryon - You could flip to X11 hashing (which would give the coin some popularity, and reduce block rewards by .5), or switch the POS and work on the multipool..

Or take a combination of them both...  since the multipool will take a while to configure.

Start with an X11 / .5 Fork - advertise it, then say in 30 days we are switching to pure POS, and a multipool will launch with it.

I said this at the start, should have used the same at algorithm as darkcoin have done. But, did anyone listen, no one did..

You should not buy a warrant unless you are prepared to sustain a total loss of the money you have invested plus any commission or other transaction charges

First off, NO, not kidding, this coin has one of the strongest communitys around. So, 390 pages and 500 free votes a day. That equates to .05BTC a day of free voting, which when spread around between many registered traders has more impact on the exchange owners than someone spending a nickel a day. If you that haven't been voting when you can, should start, that number can be doubled easily, which would make us easily the fastest climbing coin on the mintpal chart. If you should also donate even just .01 BTC each, its not just how fast we could climb the charts, its how much the exchange would notice that BTC coming in from unique addresses, it would carry double the weight that way. Money well spent. Don't forget, all exchanges "retain the right to add coins not at the top of the list from time to time"

Also, I haven't seen it officially posted yet so here it is.
GPUC is now being traded at poloniex.com and is also now listed among the coins profitable to mine at coinwarz.com

BTW, coinwarz is consistently showing GPUC trading at 3 satoshi at poloniex. It doesn't. I've notified them of their apparent incorrect API pull for the coin, and would expect them to have it fixed ASAP.
