I have said this many times, i will say again. The wallets need an auto update feature so that people don't get on the wrong fork. Does anyone know who creates the wallets, i will get in touch with them directly and let them know.

Everyone is creating wallets!!! Oh, I forgot - they mostly just change XXXcoin to YYYcoin in source and recompile wallet Cheesy

Кoгдa бyдeт иcпpaвить https://gpucoinstore.com/store/product.php?productID=1 GIGABYTE Radeon R 280x нa Sapphire Radeon R9 280X . Имeннo этa нeтoчнocть oттaлкивaeт пoкyпaтeлeй!

This guy is asking when it will be fixed GIGABYTE Radeon R 280x to Sapphire Radeon R9 280X in store? He thinks that this scares potential buyers.

Just though translating it would be useful as I assume that not many people here understands Russian. Of course, there is always google translate Smiley

I also vote for block 65535 (UINT_16_MAX is a nice number Smiley ) to fork, and agree to halving rewards on that block.
for GPUC we need something like bitbargain.co.uk where people can buy bitcoins with fiat (that's how I get my bitcoins Cheesy ). I think that someone who's buying a lot of GPUC in exchanges could agree to do it. Also, hopefully I have enough time to make tutorial on how to start mining GPUC Smiley

P.S. I'm still mining 24/7 on my laptop with ~16 KH/s, it's been like that since beginning of GPUC and guess what - laptop haven't burned yet! (so "fuck you" to all who said that scrypt-n kills laptops Tongue ) Of course, when I'm not using it, I'm putting laptop a little bit over table to keep it cool, and it runs at about 73 degrees Celsium then.

People have vocally expressed problems that need to be addressed with the business.  These are things that are seriously crippling the business.  The owner does not listen.  Either he is arrogant or just does not care.

For example, despite the community practically unanimously agreeing that the GPUCoin store needed a link to an information page describing how people obtain the coins there remains no page.

Despite the strong vocal expression by the community that they want more updates, there remains very few updates.  It took days after the sale, while people actively expressed concern, for an update to be posted with regards to the restocking of the store.

There remains very little attempt to market the store or the coin.

Lots of truth here.

I believe in all honesty, we are seeing GPUC's true "floor" right now. It was suggested early on that the first few rounds of sales be priced at a slight loss to the company, which would've helped bolster and stabilize the price.

I see this coin is now on "life support" and if I am to speculate, by the end of the month it will be dead (if not before)

It is fascinating how people are delusional about this coin, hoping to make millions.. I feel sorry for people that invested in this crap..

Can't really speak for any of the other issues... and I agree there are many other factors to the success of this coin (or impedes it).

But for the coin code which I'm responsible for, it seems like we've reached consensus on:

  - 1) OpenSSL fix
  - 2) KGW timewarp fix
  - 3) Blocking Halving starts on earlier schedule at Block 65535  ( in 2 weeks )

Hard fork must be updated by all clients (pools, exchanges, users) in 2 weeks.

I'll whip up the changes tonight and release.. but I will need someone's help to contact all exchange/pool owners to drive updates.

The good news is , this is happening for almost every coin right now (at least those ones who still have dev support).. so it's not something unique to us.  Everyone has to update due to the security issues.

You know guys, it not just the block reward but how often it is rewarded, increasing the reward time to 2.5 minutes will automatically over double the difficulty, which in turn will increase perceived value by the common miner. It will also increase the longevity of the coin, which is what a true business oriented coin should be most concerned with. Also, the mine-n-dumpers will get that many fewer coins allowing buy pressure to build.

Any other ideas for the wallet update? Don't want to overburden Micryon but this is a rare opportunity for some innovative changes that will help bring some interest from the overall mining community. The KGW hardfork update patch could actually be a godsend for the coin if implemented correctly. If the block reward halving schedule were panned out to a longer time period, for instance, the initial halving to 10,000 in a couple weeks, the next one in a year, with a lesser reduction say to 7,500 coins, and so on, the total coin generation should be able to be maintained and thereby keep the pre-mine at the current level that everyone has already had time to complain about and get used to without reopening that can of worms.

Shouldn't be too hard to add another tab to the GUI, right? On it you could have various exchange links where the coin is traded along with API pulls for price. Also, links to the main forum and the store, maybe with a pull there for current stock and prices. On the overview tab, you could put the coins emblem with "THE COIN WITH A PURPOSE" over the top of the emblem and "THE COIN WITH A STORE" under it. maybe also mention in the wallet somewhere that it is scrypt-n minable, cutting down on newb confusion level. Always a good thing there.

C'mon guys, pull together here and we can get this done right! I know y'all are full of great ideas and opinions lets get this thread kicking again! Keep voting on mintpal and buying coin with your sells from other coins you mine, we can get interest up without big money. Just be innovative and persistent!

Hope isn't a plan though. What tangible reason would there be for increased value? I'm basing my viewpoint on several other coins, which did the same thing you guys are proposing, and they're now in the toilets.

The supply of GPUs is there. The supply of GPUC is there. There's no demand to buy GPUC from fiat to get the GPUs (aka, non-gpuc-miners). There is a demand for the gpuc-miners to get the GPUs but they can't because it'll take more to mine than to simply buy with BTC.

Lowering block value hurts the people you're trying to help. It doesn't affect folks who would just buy from fiat.
+1
If you want to get more people to mine, increase the reward make it more attractive to those who want them....
But it seems you don't really care that people mine it or not (always like that until it becomes difficult to sync the wallet),
you just want your coin more pricey...

Decreasing the reward hoping it will increase the value of the coin is totally artificial... why anybody would buy that ?

GPU Sale!
On Friday the 4th of April GPU Coin is having a massive sale starting between the hours of 1700~2000 EST and going until stock is sold out.  The rest of the Sapphire Toxic R9 280X cards will be sold for $300 USD equivalant of GPUC at the market value and any person who orders a Sapphire R7 240 card at our already low price of $27 USD equivalant of GPUC will be entered in a drawing for another free R7 240, with a total of 5 winners.  Due to stock limits, we will be limiting purchases to one card per customer.

Contests:
Five Free Graphics Cards
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=550206.0

Previous Winners:
jimlite: free Sapphire Toxic R9 280X
magalhanze: free Gigabyte R9 270

Goals:
Wholesale GPU Purchases:
We currently have access to distributor prices, but wish to provide further savings to our customers. We are currently applying for wholesale of the following companies: MSI, XFX, Sapphire Tech, ASUS and GIGABYTE. After contacting a few companies we have found the wholesale market to be extremely monopolized, and a few said they would not accept new business accounts. To get access we need to provide the manufacturers proof of a certain amount of monthly sales; so if you stick by us, we'll be able to provide even higher savings directly to you.

When is the drawing for the R7 240? I ordered one and just want to make sure I'm entered.

Received my AMD Radeon R7 240 today.

Thank you

Could you add into the new wallet, an update system where any additional features to the wallet could simply be auto updated.
sort of like a plugin adder but is directly controlled by you so that if we request new wallet features they can be added in.
everyone has the same identical wallet for all coins, this one new feature would start a huge amount of buzz
once its added you could add tabs for exchanges, current sale/buy prices, store links, contests with their link to different forums..
also any pool that doesn't update to the new wallet wouldnt be listed till they confirm they are on the new wallet.

To clarify the changes will be made so that the total # of coins generated through mining will be exactly the same, regardless.  It will just take longer to get there.  So Premine % will remain the same.

We can consider client side changes as well, but let's not lump that into this update.  Those updates can be done without forking.. for now we need to just focus on releasing the security hardfork patch along with this rescheduled reward patch.  We can also consider moving to 2.5 minute block times.. that's the equivalent of halving the block reward again though.

i am not sure if it is related to the future reward halving, but now the gpuc is at 3 2 sat... (on polo)
(in case you were thinking it would be a good decision... well think twice as the market doesn't seem to agree,
the price halving was implemented much faster than the reward halving  Grin)

Could you add into the new wallet, an update system where any additional features to the wallet could simply be auto updated.
sort of like a plugin adder but is directly controlled by you so that if we request new wallet features they can be added in.
everyone has the same identical wallet for all coins, this one new feature would start a huge amount of buzz
once its added you could add tabs for exchanges, current sale/buy prices, store links, contests with their link to different forums..
also any pool that doesn't update to the new wallet wouldnt be listed till they confirm they are on the new wallet.

Although a good feature, it cannot be done by today.. we need to disconnect the two.  Release a hard fork patch first (with all hard fork security changes).

And then a later update that can do auto-updates that won't require a fork.

period, for instance, the initial halving to 10,000 in a couple weeks, the next one in a year, with a lesser reduction say to 7,500 coins, and so on, the total coin generation should be able to be

Exactly, halving the block reward again by increasing generation times, but no one bitches about it when done in that way.

Personally i like it.. i prefer 2.5m block times anyhow due to less orphans/forks.. anyways i sent a message to jaymes about it... if you get a chance to check with him, that would be good too.

We're still using KGW, but it would be patched to protect from the timewarp exploit (that everyone is talking about...)

I'd like to put my vote in for *not* changing the block time.  1 minute is fine, orphans and stales get to be a problem IMHO below 1 minute.  If the purpose is to decrease the subsidy then just do it, leave the block time alone.
