Coinotron has PPS LTC and PPC pools. Fee is 2%. Coins are available for payout after 520 (PPC) or 120 (LTC) confirmations.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Does that mean that the pool is using a SMPPS system?

No, it doesn't use SMPPS.

Pool uses pure PPS. Pool doesn't pay for stales and orphans. Because we don't pay for orphans we must wait until block has certain amount of confirmations. 120 in case of LTC.

I still don't understand. In a pure PPS system, rewards must be completely independent of block finding, so it's not clear what you mean when you say that you "don't pay orphans".

How do you implement that? You link shares to a given block round and wait till the block is confirmed before paying the shares? So if the block gets orphaned you invalidate all the shares linked to that round?

if its a pure PPS, then it will also pay for stale, and the payputs will be instant.. so sorry no, i would not call it a pure PPS

No, no reward system intrinsically needs to pay for stale shares, as validity of shares can be checked as soon as they are submitted.
I'm not even sure payouts need to be instant for a pool to be called a "pure PPS" pool. On the other hand, if a pool really uses a pure PPS system, there should be no reason to delay payments.

It's the "doesn't pay for orphans" aspect that makes me think this cannot be considered a pure PPS system. And it isn't SMPPS either. Maybe an acronym for this system has not been devised yet.

I'm confident Coinotron's system is fair and legit, but I would like to understand better how it works, so that (if need be) we can find a proper name for it.

Exactly. Just like in some traditional proportional pools.

i would not call it a pure PPS

I would not call it  pure Smiley - that post is just my opinion Smiley

You are right, calling my system "pure" PPS can be a little bit misleading.
On the other hand I don't want to create another XXXPPS acronym for it so I will call it simply PPS Smiley

In proportional pool hoppers get significantly bigger part of block reward. Regular miners get less than expected. Before August there was almost no pool hopping in LTC Coinotron. But in August things changed. I had to stop this by disabling proportional part of LTC pool.

In fact your earnings won't change but reward variance will be significantly limited !

Thanks. Smiley I'm not a hopper, but I don't mine 24/7, either. Although, this is in my bedroom and I turn the rig off at night.

Why the change? just curious. 8 seemed to be a pretty decent level for rate of share completion.

Last week I made some improvements in the pool. I wanted to test them under heavier load.

Besides, there is 4 times more yays in cpuminer Smiley

Is this normal im on 1MH/s (1000Kh/s) on LTC Coinotron and i have only got 6 LTC after a few hours  i was hopping for more i did the calculation based on PPS (pay per share),

Payout per Share = 47.5 LTC / (65536 × 8.8408)

0.006 LTC per Share

Is this correct ??

Cheers

The system assigns the shares after they win the blocks. Look at what the current round time is at the top right of the page, essentially that'll show the amount of time you've been mining that shares haven't been assigned to your account at all yet.

After the block is won it goes to "unconfirmed" (on a pps basis, so more come in the longer the round).. after 120 rounds (like 5-6 hours) the winnings for a given round move to confirmed and get paid out after exceeding your threshhold (its not automatic, payouts occur every hour or so it seems).

Here is Coinotron's formula:
PPS = 49 LTC * Share Difficulty / (65536 × 8.8408)

Current share difficulty is 2. So if each share mined by your mining program is worth: 0.00016914 LTC

You must remember that your mining program shows number of shares of given difficulty (currently 2) while Coinotron statistics show always number of shares of difficulty 1.

If you are on 1MH that means you are making 1000000/65536 = 15.26 shares of difficulty 1 per second or 7.63 shares of difficulty 2 per second.

That gives:

Per hour : 3600 s * 7.63 sh/s * 0.00016914 LTC = 4.65 LTC
Per day : 24 * 4.65 LTC = 111.6 LTC
