You need simply disable getwork protocol and 100% of miners will use Stratum. Roll Eyes

but you will loose all cpu miners and some gpu miners who do not wan't to do software updates untill the last possible moment - some might find swiching to another pool easier than learn about, search, download and configure new software.

I would love stratum only + vardiff, it lowers network traffic a lot so I would get less rejects, but for pool operator there are more aspects to consider.

In the theory it's true, but the facts suggests otherwise. Our hash rate after getwork removal is equal to hash rate before this. Because benefits of stratum are obvious for all.

Someone will always use the deprecated protocol, while there is a possibility. Many simply due to ignorance or laziness. Thus, the correct policy - to announce the deadline, after which simply remove support for legacy protocols. All will benefit from this, because it will make services and mining software more reliable.

But I'm agree with you, everyone decides for himself what to do. Smiley

Currently I'm just encouraging people to switch to Stratum, but your math is correct Smiley

65% of LTC miners are mining at Stratum pool.

Here is why:

Stratum LTC efficiency = 99.5%
Getwork LTC efficiency = 97.7%

If you want to switch to stratum LTC, please use latest cgminer.

Just send the X-Stratum header ? I've been doing it on the pool since the start and 65% of the hashrate is on stratum. Basically everyone using a miner that supports stratum (cgminer) will use stratum. Sure, people using a cpuminer or reaper could use the proxy ... but if they don't mind the stales, i don't care that much about it.

Thanks for an information.

Those are RBPPS credits calculated for invalid blocks. Sometimes they are not deleted when block is invalid. It is annoying but not dangerous bug. And it is really hard to pinpoint its source.

Fixed.

You know what would be nice?  An API to be able to switch the coin that is being mined (provided all scrypt or all SHA-256 based on the client miner config).  Wink

1.5 yrs ago there was even special worker at Coinotron which was automatically switching your miners to most profitable coin to mine. All coins (ixc, i0c, nmc, btc) were SHA-256 based. But I removed this functionality as popularity of ixc and i0c decreased and colidcoin and litecoin emerged.

Good point - but Terracoin and PPCoin are the new ixcoin / Devcoin (http://www.coinchoose.com).  However, I think it would be nice to provide programmatic functionality outside of the pool web-site just in case any site has calculations on the most profitable coin to mine that also may be accessed via an API  Smiley

API to change worker coin. It is a shame, I didn't think of it.

FYI

There are still some not withdrawn coins in pool's NVC wallet.
Please withdraw them before Mar 15, 2013

are you not able to do a database wide change of users withdrawl limit to 1 and then just allow the auto payment system to handle it?

What if they didn't specify payout address or it is not actual ?
The only safe way is to wait for user action.

Without reading the whole thread, what is the best, pain-free miner to use, coinotron, and where do I get it?

Thanks
