FYI

I've added two info columns to "My account" page:

1. Total hashrate for each currency (sum of all workers)
2. Estimated number of coins you can earn per day

Thanks Nolo

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Due to low interest of miners and issues with sending payouts (SC network adds 10-20% transaction fee to each payout) we decided to close Solidcoin pool.

Pool will be closed 2012-10-24.
Please withdraw your coins until 2012-10-31.

Thanks, it's working great and very convenient Smiley

Charlie Kelly: I'm pleading the 5th.  The Attorney: I would advise you do that.  Charlie Kelly: I'll take that advice under cooperation, alright? Now, let's say you and I go toe-to-toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor?  The Attorney: You know, I don't think I'm going to do anything close to that and I can clearly see you know nothing about the law.

Mining LTC I have been getting about 10% rejected on 2 different miners. I switched them over today to PPS. When I was on RBPPS I was getting a little over 3% rejected.

I checked out current logs. Your miners seem to work fine - no issues with works submitted they are submitting.
Whole LTC pool had in last 12h about 2.7% stale works.
Switching to PPS shouldn't affect your workers efficiency. Did you try to restart them?

Is the LTC pool seeing an increase in hashrate since the reduction in difficulty?

With so many different mining pools being offered I suspect traffic to be problem and this is the reason for the higher difficulty shares on the LTC pool. Having them all directed to the same coinotron.com address with a choice in ports 8322 or 9322, is one prefered over the other whether it is scrypt or SHA miners are mining for? Would one of these be better to connect to in terms of traffic?

Would the higher difficulty shares on the LTC pool be expected to cause an increase or decrease in the amount of rejected and stale shares produced?

Traffic is not a problem. Our connection is quite good with maximum throughput far beyond current needs.
Higher difficulty shares shouldn't have measurable impact on workers performance because we support long polling.

However there might be an issue related to long poll queue length. In last 2 days our total LTC hashrate has doubled ( 70 MH to 140 MH). Number of entries in long poll queue doubled as well. When network founds new block, new work is being sent to all LP requests. Longer it takes, more stale/rejected shares miners observe.

There is interesting observation here. In our case main limitation is not our internet connection bandwidth, but how quickly litecoind can deliver new works. And it is not quickly enough.

Another factor is how many blocks per hour LTC network produces. More blocks/hour means more chances of worker submitting stale work. On Monday difficulty dropped by 20% and simultaneously total network hashrate increased. I estimate that there was at least 40% increase of blocks/hour.

Thanks for the help in understanding. Thats seems to make sense with wat I am seeing. The rejects are occuring mostly with the long polls and sometimes worse than others. Especially when close together. Updated to latest cgminer and not if that helped a little or if the pool traffic reduced slightly. I think a restarting of cgminer every so often will help too.

Be nice to see some more transparency in worker stats and block stats. Work and earnings per block, Have not yet found a litecoin pool that shares this information with its miners and we all like to see those things when choosing a pool.

Thanks for your help and time.

Edit: nearly forgot, My rejected shares are currently showing closer to 3-4%

We are under DDOS attack.

Gotta love jackasses.

What exactly is the benefit of ddosing a pool?  Is it done by your competitors?  Is it done by those wishing to drive down the overall hashrate to decrease difficulty?

To be honest I don't know. Apparently they don't have enough power to target all LTC pools at the same time. Maybe they are just training before attacking bigger pools/websites.

Yesterday I introduced few improvements to Long Poll support.
They seem to reduce stale rates quite substantially. Especially in LTC pool.

After 12 hours I measured following stale rates:

BTC: 0.6%
PPC: 0.4%
LTC: 1.1%
LQC: 1.9%
