Hmm, well, I tried switching my fpga miner to deepbit and so far I've noticed no failed connect attempts when the miner asks for work. There is still are a few rejected jobs even with deepbit but no connection issues. I'm using MPBM v0.0.4alpha btw. I'd expect to have more issues with deepbit as it's further away (ie more hops, higher latency, etc) but :\ I dunno. As I type this I noticed a few failed connections so maybe in the end it's pretty much the same with all pools - ie it's the fact that I'm mining with an fpga that is causing these issues, or my internet is just shit.
Anyways, my brief visit to the Deep Bit is over; back to the Guild I go.

Make sure to give mine2/3 a try. They should be a lot better than earlier today now that the load balancer is completely disabled.

@Elutheria;
Thanks for fixing the error and doing the right thing (especially at such a large cost to yourself). I do have a question for you though:
In the future will you allow for NMC to be converted BTC directly through your site?
Edit: (Apparently being sick and typing late at night results in the most horrendous spelling / grammer on the internet)

I'd like to see this too, even if you took a percent for conversion. It's such a nuisance to have to get rid of the NMC that I just let them sit as the value keeps going down.

I'd like to see this too, even if you took a percent for conversion. It's such a nuisance to have to get rid of the NMC that I just let them sit as the value keeps going down. I've considered it in the past, but my main concern is the unstable conversion rate, and the fact that no namecoin exchange has an API I could use to perform the sale at the time you converted. This leaves 3 options that don't open me up to price dump risk: 1) Make NMC conversions a request queue, where each day I make a sale and the proceeds are allocated appropriately. This is the safest, but it means you would have a delay in conversion, and you would not know what rate you were going to get until after it happened. 2) Sell NMC in advance [IE: Sell off a portion of the wallet, which for NMC has quite a huge balance] at a certain rate, and then give users the real-time exchange rates as long as they do not exceed what I sold it for. In this case, it would be fee-less, and I would simply pocket the difference between the rate I sold and the real-time rate. The disadvantage would be my rates might be less than current market rates if the price jumps after I made the sale. 3) A mixture of the two, depending on your NMC balance. Smaller conversions using #2, larger conversions using #1. I've been hesitant to do it, mostly because of the amount of NMC BTC Guild has accumulated. Opening up a conversion would significantly drop the market rate even if only a third of BTC Guild users utilized it. This opens me up to a lot of risk if I'm allowing conversions at real-time market rates, since the price WILL drop if I do it. I'm not keen on opening up another set of risks, especially after the bad luck in January (paired with the problem the other night).

Pretty lazy in my opinion. Is it that hard or time consuming for you to go to the exchange website, get your nmc address, go back to btcguild.com website, put that address in, and hit payout? You don't even have to run the Name Coin Client.

Yes it is lazy, but we get to be lazy and Elutheria get to make a little off of our lazyness. That is how most things work. Do you think this is unjust?

Hmm, is the site having issues again?
My three miners are chugging away, and the site isn't updating/counting their shares?
Going on 15+ minutes now.
Two of them are on btcguild.com, the other is on mine3.btcguild.com

You don't even have to run the Name Coin Client. I already did that work and have a NMC address at CryptoXchange. But there are no buyers there. So I looked at an account at that other popular exchange (forget name) and they need me to go get an OpenID etc. So I've just been sitting on them for now. I used to use the auto-sell at EclipseMC but I don't like other things there and moved here. I don't know what method he uses there but something similar here might work. I'm guessing he uses some API as it seems to be instant at current pricing.

Please use https://www.btcguild.com (do not leave out WWW)! I'll try to get the forwarding back up so when you leave it out the mining pool will redirect you, but there's no reason to go through the mining server to hit the website. UPDATE: I got the mining server to forward you to the website IP address on SSL connections. I still highly recommend using the proper URL though.

What the heck is going on with the pool servers. I'm getting tons and tons of connection errors.
