I’m using Win7 so would the ‘cgminer -n’

This has been my main issue and knowing how to create separate instances isolating devices.

cgminer -n just enumerates your connected USB mining devices.

If you want multiple instances just start additional ones.

Are you asking how to separate devices in the separate sessions?  If so what devices do you have?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Hi 0s2sam. I would like know how I identify each usb device i.e. 1:7, 1:8 so that I can then isolate them from different instances as they currently clash.  I have x2 R606 and x4 Newpacs on 4.11.1, x12 Rockminers on a modified 4.10.0 and x6 2Pacs on standard cgminer 4.10.0.  x3 GS hubs, HP1200, Lindy USB cables direct to Win7 laptop.

The only way to stop any clashes when running together is to use --usb :1 in the instance for the R606.  I thought there was a command 'cgminer -n' that will identify which sticks are in which ports to mask their identity from other devices?  I'm getting there and learnt a lot in a short time.  I just need help with command lines/instances to get all running together...I will run around the block naked if this happens!  The RM's use 2Pac commands and act in the same in every way.  I will ditch them in time for more 2Pacs and Newpacs but I didnt know enough at the start.

Thanks for any help.

I only have two R606's.  So if I want to run them in two separate sessions I should be able to use --usb GSI:1 for each session and have it only pick up one device per each instance.  Using the identifier for the other devices you should be able to tell CGMiner what types you want in each instance.

Also the top post has information on how to identify the Bus numbers and use that method.  Also Mstroziers post has info at the bottom of his instructions too.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.msg50968875#msg50968875

You can also search through the CGMiner thread on different ways to split devices up.
Sam

Edit: oh Sidehack also gives each device a serial number and VH added an option to specify what S/N you want in each instance, do some searching in this thread, I think, for those command line options.

You may still run into issues regardless of splitting them out.  Laptop hardware typically doesn't have the amount of bus traffic lanes as a desktop PC.  Some are usually limited to only 1 or 2 usb ports and are often using at least 2 bus lanes.  What model laptop are you currently using as a controller for these miners as you have quite a bit running off it  Grin   You may end up having to split them out on multiple devices.

I ran into clashing issues when using the Raspberry Pi 3 b+.  As it had only 1 bus lane that routed all 4 usb ports and internet traffic through creating a bottleneck.  You may be running into a similar issue with that laptop having a grand total of 24 miners (various makes) on that one machine.

You may have better luck migrating them over to a dedicated desktop or a couple of raspberry pi 4's.

I have a Pi4 with 4gb, run 2 r606 at 800mhz over 2Tb.

I updated kernel 64bit as was suggested.  Pi4 works faster.

got my replacement today and its been running about 5 mins now will update if I have any issues.

running it with the following command line for now

cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://bch.viabtc.com:3333 -u MoparMiningLLC.003 -p x --api-listen --api-allow W:0/0

will look at changing the freq via command line later, as it seems that no matter what setting I set with the buttons it stays at 550 mhz on all 7 settings.

The button adjusts voltage in hardware only. Frequency is a software setting and so has to be set via command line.

Cool, quiet and up to 1TH pod miner, on sale now!

ooh gotcha - I misunderstood then. I apologize. its on setting 7 with 550 mhz and running between 723 to 777 gh/s - overall average is 704.8 gh/s but its only been running 16 mins - I will give it some more time to get a more accurate average.

edit: is there any reference as to what the advantages/disadvantages are of each setting? and what is the freq range that we can attempt to use without breaking the r606?

CGMiner for the R606 auto adjusts to the best performance for each voltage level and frequency combination.

Just set your Frequency to 750 and start on voltage level 4 and see where it settles at, it will most likely be below 750Mhz.  Then move up to the next voltage level and restart  CGminer.  Repeat for each voltage level.  Document what your miner does at each voltage level and then use the combination you like the best.

thanks! will give that a spin

to be sure - this is my command line would go when adding the freq change?

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://bch.viabtc.com:3333 -u MoparMiningLLC.003 -p x --api-listen --api-allow W:0/0 --gekko-r606-freq 750

edit: yes that is what I need to do in the command line - I am on setting 4 with freq set to 750 - i will post results here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5180588.0

Hello - Can someone explain what the two numbers in parentheses (47:94) after the plateau numbers are? I've found explanation for everything else in the CGMiner display but this. Thanks!

Can someone please link me to the correct fourm page to setup cgminer on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ or 4 please?  I need a super basic noob guide!

I want to split my overall set-up from a Win7 laptop to at least x2 Pi's or ditch the laptop and just run as many Pi's as needed to keep things separate.  Is the Pi4 suitable for cgminer 4.11.1 as it has USB3.0 or is it better to stick with Pi3B+ with it's x4 USB2.0?

I have x12 Rockminer U10's (dont...!), x12 2Pacs and x4 Newpacs which all run very smooth on my laptop with x3 GS hubs and different cgminer versions/instances.  The issues arise when I add the x2 R606's, hence the standalone Pi requirement.  I intend to run x2 R606's from x1 Pi (maybe x2), x4 NewPacs from a separate Pi and the BM1384's from my laptop.  Any future BM1387 additions will be added to that existing Pi or another one added.  I will also mount this set-up in a Hyrda II/III style server case with bequiet silent wings 3 (powered from the GS hubs) for sexiness and overall mobility.  Once I've mastered the programming, I should be flying! Smiley

The instructions I wrote up will work on either Pi 3  or Pi 4.   If you are using a Pi 4, after installing your OS and doing the basic updates (sudo apt-get update then once completed sudo apt-get upgrade -y)  you may want to update the kernel to 64 bit.  Those steps are on page 58.

Page 28  instructions that I wrote up for setting up the miners on a pi --->   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.540

Also you don't have to put the Pi 4 to 64 bit right away.  If you want you can do those steps afterwards when you are more comfortable with using the system.  The miner will work just fine either way, it has no bearings on the miner if it's 32 or 64 bit.   This portion of the upgrade is mainly looking at future use of the Pi, especially if you plan to do other things with the device while it's mining.

Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me.  I'll gladly help where I can.

**Edit**

And yes the pi4 is suitable for cgminer.  I'm running x2  R606, x4 Newpacs and x2 Futurebit Moonlanders without issue.  The Gekko hub is connected to a usb2.0 slot and my R606's are connected to the usb3.0 slots.

Screen Print:  https://ibb.co/mGJTJ3n

Also you may be able to run all of the miners off the Pi 4.  It's more of a trial and error at this stage.  If with all of your miners you still run into clashes then x2 Pi 4's should be enough.  Also the Pi 4 is practically idle for the most part as a controller, so power usage from the Pi itself from what I've  measured has been around 2 watts.  If I try to run a CPU miner on the Pi 4 it'll bump up to 5 watts of total usage off the controller.  Not bad.  Grin

Curious how that U10 looks exactly like my 2Pac. Do they have unique serial numbers or did they just steal my configs straight across like TTBit did? I've not seen one in person.

Hello all

Help needed as fleaBay strikes again! My second R606 arrived today and the fan doesn't work (although it looks like it correctly plugged onto the board) and the USB port sheared off whilst testing different cables.  I did not use excessive force.  The seller wont accept a return so can someone please PM for their address if willing to repair?  I will cover ALL costs including shipping from/to the UK, obviously any parts/repair and beer tokens Smiley

@sidehack...the Rockminer's use a modified version of cgminer 4.10.0 as the official 4.10.0 used for my 2Pac's won't recognize them.  They are serialized and appear like this RM 01000046.  The rest of the interface appears to work the same.  Would you like one sent for analysis?  They are on an inferior level of 10/10 when compared side by side to a 2Pac or NewPac.

Can anyone help repair my R606's fan and usb connector please?  Cool

If none of the builders are able to assist, then as an alternative you could do this to rig the unit for cooling.  Remove the front usb fan.  And replace with this:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IJ2J2K0  for front/back air flow.  And plug the usb cable into one of your free usb ports on your hub/machine.  These units pull about the same airflow as the artic fans that come with these units.  And are also very quiet.  I have these same fans mounted at the rear of my units for additional cooling.

....provided there isn't anything else broke with the unit.  419Mining and MinersSupply MineFarmBuy have been great to work with.  You could reach out to any of them and see if they can help.  Good luck.

First question, who's the seller? Second question, why didn't you buy from a reputable dealer like 419mining or MineFarmBuy? (MinersSupply is no longer an approved dealer)

here is a question. My miner lights are not staying on the current setting (setting 6) instead it flashes 6 then it flashes 1 - it has been doing this for about an hour. it is currently hashing at about 874.6 gh/s at 643.75 freq (which is the freq I have it set to in cg miner)

so the question is this: why is it the setting changing? or is it even? and should I have any concern?
