Not entering into any logo competition here, but it might be interesting to do something completely different (although I vaguely recall some other altcoin doing this, I can't find it now);

Heavycoin(ium).  Looks like a periodic table element, rather than the ubiquitous round 'coin'.  The element (proton count 126) is actually Unbihexium, which is a superheavy element, suspected to be in the island of stability.  Its rumored most stable form would be doubly-magic, but for the mass I instead chose the first element of the initial hash values, in decimal expression (with a decimal point thrown in for no good reason other than artistic license).  Abstracts pretty well into small icon form (drop everything but the 'Hv').  On the down side, Photoshop and the show Breaking Bad have made using that form somewhat cliché.

Intresting!  we like that its different/  mumbly will be posting some new logos here sometime soon,. to get people's opinions.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

This coin is mostly interesting because of how block reward is created.

With enough miners it can create interesting data about how big block should be.

Can i ask a feature for the wallet? Proper "heavycoin:" uri handling Smiley

I'm gonna need it so the wallet pops up with the payment when someone clicks a "pay" link in my app Smiley

Hey chiguireitor,

I understand what you're asking, but not sure what the implications are in the code - let me bump this with the dev team - If you're working on an app that includes HVC I'm sure they're very interested in helping.

Cheers,
M

as for as we know this is not a function of the wallet, but of your host OS.. You must associate the heavycoin: prefix with heavycoin-Qt command.

Not completely... the wallet must process the HEAVYCOIN argument, it currently expects the "bitcoin:" uri... if i use this:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Heavycoin]
@="URL:heavycoin"
"URL Protocol"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Heavycoin\DefaultIcon]
@="F:\\heavycoin-1.0-win32\\heavycoin-qt.exe"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Heavycoin\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Heavycoin\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Heavycoin\shell\open\command]
@="F:\\heavycoin-1.0-win32\\heavycoin-qt.exe %1"

And click on the link on this page:

Code:
<html>
<body>
<a href="heavycoin:HH1gj4u5zMHUTT2F8QHLid9ijweuKNca8o">Pay</a>
</body>
</html>

The wallets refuses to run saying that it "cannot lock the blockchain" which is wrong, it should send the "Pay to address" message.

yes and no - all of these functionalities stem out of the Bitcoin ecosystem, and the URI protocol handler is no different, per BIP21:
Quote
Graphical bitcoin clients SHOULD register themselves as the handler for the "bitcoin:" URI scheme by default, if no other handler is already registered. If there is already a registered handler, they MAY prompt the user to change it once when they first run the client.

Note that I can't really think of an altcoin that actually does this, either while running the GUI or as part of the installation process (another reasonably place to put it).

Skeincoin does Wink i've compiled the installer with support for this and the dev fixed the "bitcoin:" uri handling to accept "skeincoin:"

I like this coin because you can get coins to for free and the wallet works great! This wallet is a way better then wallets of the other coins that crash and have all kinds of issues.

Thanks.

Hey guys,

Ok - logo design comp 2.0 is now live!

Head over to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=513878.msg6763239#msg6763239 for more, and far too much, information Smiley

Three things you can do on the design thread if you would like:

- Add your own, new, logo for consideration

- Take one of the two shortlisted designs and post a polished-up version

- Go take a look and let us know what you think about both the shortlisted designs, or any other designs you like or have thoughts on.

Feel free to share any thoughts or post feedback on the design thread.

I'll see you there.

M

Looks completely undervalued here.  Stable coin with a good history, active dev, and new marketing?  I think we see a nice run up from here.

And we're off, ladies and gentlemen - our first official promotion for Heavycoin on this thread.

The Global Trivia Quiz Challenge

1) The Game

- We've selected one particular longitude/latitude on the planet as the prize location, it's your job to find it.

- The first person to submit a winning guess gets first place, failing that, the closest person will win

- Every day for the next seven days we will release a clue, as each day passes, the clues will become more obvious about the location.

- First or closest entry takes the first prize.

2) The rules

- Every member of this forum is welcome to participate

- Every member get's 1 guess only, any additional guesses by a member will be ignored

- To enter, you need to send a longitude/latitude co-ordinate in a Private Message to user HVC_Comps (the clues will be released by this member, first clue will be released in a minute)

- To win, your guess will need to be the first guess within 1 kilometer of the prize location.

- The promotion will run until Monday, 26th May, 1PM Bitcointalk server time.

- After this time, if no one guesses within one kilometer of the prize location, the closest entry wins.

3) The Prizes

The prizes are:

- 1st place = 10,000 HVC
- 2nd place = 5,000 HVC
- 3rd place = 2,500 HVC
- 4th place = 1,000 HVC
- 5th place = 1,000 HVC
- 6th place = 500 HVC
- 7th place = 500 HVC

4) To enter this competition

- Private message the user HVC_Comps (the user posting the clues)

- Here's a tool to help you figure out longitudes/latitudes for locations: http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html

- If you can, submit long/lat in a decimal form, rather then in minutes and seconds, not a deal breaker, just makes our job easier.

5) Exceptions

- If we decide that an entry is a burner account, or otherwise just extra accounts created for this competition, we will ignore them at our discretion.

- At the end, if people would like us to post full results, I'm very happy to do this.

I'm curious to see if someone will take a blind guess and be correct on the first day, or will wait a few days until they know the answer for sure.

I hope you guys enjoy this promotion, when this is done please do share any feedback.

Cheers,
M
