The players won't easily leave the national team and show interest playing IPL. The IPL league have turned too big and the attracted audience have made it one among the top league on entire sports. This happened little by little through the big pay and the strong sponsors who are ready to spend big on the league. In one form the decision of CSA is something good for the real cricketing growth.

LOL.. how is this decision beneficial for the "real cricketing growth"? Do you believe that taking away the livelihood of the players will make them more committed towards the sport? I don't think so. Already dozens of cricketers have migrated to various countries (not just England and New Zealand, but also Ireland, Australia, US and Netherlands) and stupid decisions like this one will further accelerate the outflow of quality talent. IPL is here to stay, and for cricket it is more important than the useless bilateral series. The sooner national cricket boards realize it, that better.

There is a set back for PSL as CSA has refused to issue NOCs to its contracted players saying players must remain available for national team commitment against NZ and BAN. This is a good move by csa, will they do the same for filthy rich IPL I don't think.

I don't support this move. This is pure blackmail. The CSA want centrally contracted players to appear in useless domestic competitions within South Africa, while forfeiting their opportunity to take part in the lucrative PSL. This sort of behavior is exactly the reason why many of the good South African players were forced to retire from international cricket and move to other countries such as England and New Zealand. After all, cricket is just another profession. You can't force the professional players to play without salary, while taking away their chance to earn some good amounts from the franchise leagues.

I also feel they would not do the same for IPL and we all know the reason. If they do try the same then players might leave the national team as they do get paid more in IPL. I still do not support this decision of CSA. They should reconsider it.

I remember Rambo was talking about taking down western cricketing block when NZ and ENG cancelled their tour and ofc non stop anti PIG 3 statements over the years from different PCB's officials.

But now Rambo is saying that it should be PIG 4. What about SL, SA, NZ, BAN etc?

As far as I know, only IPL has this model of paying 20% of the player salary to the national cricket board. That is the reason why the ICC has agreed to block two months of international calendar every year, so that the tournament can take place without any hiccups. For other leagues such as PSL and CPL, the ICC has not given similar relaxations. One thing I would like to see is more associate players participating in the IPL. Previously we had Sandeep Lamichhane from Nepal, but currently there are no players from the associate nations participating in this tournament.

The decision has been made in the light of recent performance of SA team. Main players leave national assignments for leagues. It happened last year when players left series with Pakistan for IPL, South Africa To Allow IPL-Bound Players To Leave Pakistan ODI Series Midway: Report. IPL is a different thing, IPL not only pays the players but also the board. If PSL want SA players then they have to pay PCB some $$$.

Also CA plan to visit Pakistan in March is sceptical. In such situation it looks funny that PCB chairman has proposed such plan, lets see what other boards say about this.

Your half statement is correct that this is nothing serious for cricketing fans because no one going to take this as good specially from BCCI as they will never agree if anything is going to be profitable for Pakistan and PCB, so I am also feeling it's crap idea from Rambo and his team right now they need to give some better time for internal issues which are more important instead of having ideas like this.

With Australia is coming in Pakistan even their very few players are not interested like Warner, Maxwell and Starc but many other players are coming surely, and they are going to fulfill their commitment about this tour because now it's very significant for all. Right now situation is much improved and things are going even better in next few weeks with PSL7 is also going to start after few weeks with some strict rules.

I agree with you on bilateral series. Still I would continue to hold a few of the series (such as Ashes, Border-Gavaskar and Trans-Tasman) in high regard. In every other sport (football, basketball, field hockey, baseball.etc), the lion's share of time is devoted for franchise leagues. International matches are rarity, and in case of football they are confined mostly to FIFA tournaments such as Euro Cup, Copa America and World Cup. It may take some time for cricket to make this transformation. But the sooner that happens, that better.

I don't think there are serious  internal issues in PCB team that need serious attention.  AFAIK, Pakistan team is performing very well in international matches and are one of strong team right now. I do agree that big 3 plus NZ won't accept this idea but its a good idea that top 4 teams competing against each other.

For example, no one can beat Google in the search engine genre as they don't have any competitors.
Same thing for Youtube - no competitors.

Same thing for IPL. Yes, there are some competitors to IPL like the Big Bash, but IPL itself is way too big for anyone and the money put into it is huge. Players also benefit more than any other league.

The success of IPL should be related with population of India and the cricket followers from India. So, obviously IPL must be the leader in T20 leagues with userbase and revenue generations. Big Bash evolved into multiple level from how it was originated like they introduced women big bash and long tournament but not sure about its revenue.

IPL is the pioneer and highly paying league to players; ICC do allocate around 50 days for it every year which must be the enough proof to understand about how huge it is among all T20 leagues.

The PCB is open about their plan and they are welcoming a series with India, how the politicians will allow that is a different story and if they play it is one of the biggest viewed matches globally and the fans are deprived of watching these high profile matches for decades.

After hearing some of the post match shows during the Ashes, i do not think the tour of Pakistan is skeptical, everyone is open to that tour including the players and it is possible it will carry on as planned if everything goes well.

That's why this PIG-4 idea came at first place but i won't be surprised if existing PIG 3 group completely ignored them and add SA or NZ instead. After all Ganguly came up with this quadrilateral series proposal, when he took the BCCI.

Some players might back down but i wish that tour should go ahead despite all challenges and want nothing but clean sweep by Babar & co.

Unlike the other sports, cricket fans are not uniformly distributed across the globe. 90% of them are concentrated in South Asia, and even within that India forms the lion's share. So it is not surprising that the IPL is by far the richest league as far as franchise T20 is concerned. In the next 5-10 years, I am sure that the IPL will become the world's richest sports league, overtaking US leagues such as National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB).

Yes, you are right. If I'm not wrong, IPL was the first-ever franchise T-20 league and was the only T-20 league for a large amount of time. As a reason, the limelight it gets is nothing close to any other league. So it is only normal for ICC to allocate a month or two for IPL as it helps ICC as well.

A big reason why IPL is still the biggest league is because the BCCI has a huge amount of funding for the players, organizations, and also for marketing. Also, big companies investing in them make them easier to buy more players, pay the players a handful amount of money, thus bringing in more players.

Stokes looked cooked in recent Ashes series so its not a bad idea and the way they performed in the Ashes, i won't be surprise if more English players (Test) pull out their name from the Mega Auction.

There is some serious debates going on there about resetting county and test cricket.

Sri Lanka and i think SA are on the card for the 2022 IPL venues if something goes wrong.
