Well.. IPL is far ahead of the other leagues and no other league will come close (for obvious reasons). But that doesn't mean that the other leagues doesn't attract global audience. CPL and BBL for example are very popular in the subcontinent, while the English county level T20 championship also has a loyal following. From here it can only get better. Cricket is slowly moving from a national-team based setup to a franchise-based setup, which happened with other sports like football and basketball many decades ago.

IPL is one among the top 10 league played around the globe. As said IPL is far ahead, yet different countries have their own leagues to be popular. India being a cricket frenzy country this is very popular. An average of 32000 audience used to watch every IPL match. Maybe with time CPL, BPL, PSL will be more popular. India started earlier which is also a reason for its success. During those days there were not much of leagues for cricket.

Without any doubt IPL is leader in t20 franchise leagues and no one going to touch them but with their own fan base many other leagues can also take their own share from this global market and their own country as well so in near future we will have some good improvement in these leagues and many will have some good money as well because right now most of them are in very early stages and schedule is also problem for them but as these leagues are coming hopefully in future we will be able to have some better timetable and bilateral cricket will be just secondary option with this all but surely it needs some good time for setting things and having better value and good finances.

Examples are KL Rahul and Hard dick Pandya. And that is the reason why I am not expecting these two franchises to perform properly for the first one or two seasons. It is going to take some time for them to catch up with the other franchises.

KL Rahul : Out of form? I disagree. He was ranked 3rd in 2018, 2nd in 2019, 1st in 2020 and 3rd in 2021 according to the Orange cap rankings which is primarily why Lucknow spent so much money in order to purchase him.

Also, Hardik Pandya is out of form indeed, but he can be a devastating batsman if he retains his form which is why Ahemdabad decided to take a risk with him.

But when its comes to online presence (highlights, short clips) BCCI and service providers do terrible job. You can't expect everyone to visit BCCI site every time they want to see 2 mins action.

I guess they can't upload these clips to YouTube, due to T&C of the television contract. Maybe BCCI should cut down on greed and ask the media rights holders to make highlights of already completed matches freely available for all. I am a regular visitor of YouTube channels of ECB and CA, and every now and then they upload full highlights to their channel (for example the recently concluded Ashes). I don't know why the BCCI can't do the same. Maybe they need to reduce the sale amount for TV rights by 4% or 5%.

My suggestion is to keep these apps for live matches and make the video highlights free for everyone by uploading them to YouTube.

I doubt star india will ever post highlights on YouTube. This is how they make money for the amount they invested in media rights. Media rights are auctioned to the highest bidder. This year apart from Disney star network three other big companies will also be participating such as Sony Sports Network, Reliance-Viacom 18 and Amazon. It is for the period 2023 to 2027.

All the T20 leagues except the Indian Premier League lack certain qualities in my opinion. You know like the teams that are in IPL are just too good. Another thing is the pitches are also made for the batters mostly so people can enjoy action-packed cricket.

Yeah exactly, ECB and CA also have their own contracts with BT Sport, Sky or Channel 7 but they still upload 2-10 mins clips of bilateral series. I don't mind if BCCI doesn't want IPL footage anywhere other than their sponsor's platform, its a business strategy and its their pet project so its understandable but applying same tactics with bilateral series is kinda cheap.

There is lots of money involved in IPL, so we have lots of glamour in that league which is absent in other leagues. You cant say we have quality cricket in IPL otherwise India would not have such bad T20 WC. You cant ignore the power of social media steaming channels they open new dimensions of earnings for small businesses. IPL is other story but small leagues like BPL, PSL can attract people globally towards them. Streaming your league freely on YouTube defiantly makes you a bit more popular.

We are talking about highlights and short clips. I believe that these should be freely available to the global audience. Obviously I am not expecting live matches to be freely available to all, because that would reduce the revenue inflows for the cricket boards by 80% or so. Those who want to watch live matches need to pay for cable TV, or go for a subscription with Hotstar or some other online streaming platform. As kro pointed out, there are a lot of poor people who are excited about cricket. They may not be able to afford cable television. They at least deserve access to match highlights.

IMO not many are interested in BPL that's why there is not much discussion about betting about BPL. DYOR please.

One of the biggest revenue source for IPL is the television right. If PSL wants to be succesful then they should stop telecasting those matches on free platforms. They should also work on piracy. Star india has been very successful in stopping piracy. It is practically impossible to watch IPL on any free platforms now. A few years back you would have easily watched those IPL matches on most of the free platform.

Pakistan PSL does not follow the cheap tactics of IPL  and our focus is not on the revenue only. If people can watch PSL on some free platforms, that won't hurt much. Let the people enjoy the matches. Money is not everything.
Also, PSL non-fixed matches gives much better entertainment than the fixed IPL matches.
