Following IPL there were more leagues being organized, but weren't able to reach the popularity same as that of IPL through years. It hasn't reached this popular in a short, already 14 seasons were over. Maybe when more seasons were conducted other leagues might also gain popularity. The Indian cricket board is spending big, which is also a reason for the success. Nowhere such big amounts were spend on player auction and team franchise.

India is the biggest market in cricket by a distance. Unlike the other sports, cricket fans are not uniformly distributed across the globe. 90% of them are concentrated in South Asia, and even within that India forms the lion's share. So it is not surprising that the IPL is by far the richest league as far as franchise T20 is concerned. In the next 5-10 years, I am sure that the IPL will become the world's richest sports league, overtaking US leagues such as National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB).

You have a valid point. Cricket is the center of attraction for the South Asian Region. Countries like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka have huge populations. In fact, India is the 2nd largest country by population and so a T20 league organized by and in India will have more revenue automatically. Also, India has big investors and also BCCI has a lot of money to spend on IPL which only makes it bigger every year.

In the wake of the Covid-19 Omicron scare, will IPL 2022 be held overseas? After the amid Covid-19 Omicron scare, many star players are likely to miss games.

Last time the IPL was shifted because the situation in India was worse when compared to the other countries. Also, at that point the vaccination rate in India was far below the that in neighboring nations. The situation has changed now. More than 90% of the adult population is vaccinated and now the COVID situation is better when compared to the SENA nations. From what I could understand, the only concern is regarding the tax liability. Staging the IPL in India would mean the BCCI paying around 43% of the revenues as tax. Last time they didn't had to pay any, as matches were hosted in the UAE.

@Sithara007 I don’t think last year’s IPL was so much fun, hence I hope they keep it in India only and it can be played in empty stadiums if needed. Also taxes that high will always be taken under consideration, but their viewer base will take a hit if it’s played in UAE again, hence I feel they’ll avoid hosting outside India.

43% sounds way too much to me, not sure if its accurate number. Anyways even if they host IPL in India, its very unlikely that they are going to get permission for crowds at stands. Which means virtually zero gate amount for all franchise and add tax amount into this, doesn't look good from franchise and BCCI's perspective at all.

Yes that's true. India has made its huge population its strength rather then a liability. Its not only cricket, Indian movie industry is also successful because of its vast majority that went to cinema to see films. India is heading in right direction that's why it's included in top economies of the world.

The tax was always a problem when organized in India but I just hope that no players get the covid during the IPL as it would be very unfortunate even for his team and the franchise itself.

Yes, 43 Percent seems quite a huge lot. Almost half the revenues go to the government which is not fair in my opinion. But also, as you said, it might be organized without any fans in the stadium which would be a bummer.

I don't know what you are talking about. UAE is the most expensive place to host any sort of tournament. PCB gave up having bilateral series there since it costed them way more. Also there are many industries associated with ipl that flourish if you host it in India. If hosting in India is the bad then why bcci hosting it in India for over 10.year?

Obviously UAE is expensive in terms of travel and hotel bookings. But those expenses look minuscule when you compare it with the tax bill from the Indian government. The much smaller T20 World Cup had a tax bill of ₹906 crores ($122 million), as the central government usually doesn't provide tax exemptions for cricket events. On top of that there are additional taxes at state and city level. Taking in to account all these factors, it is profitable for the BCCI to stage the IPL elsewhere (especially in tax-free nations such as the UAE).

England women's team managed to give a target of 160 runs. There was good enough batting. England lost the first wicket by 81 runs and the second wicket by 141 runs. Danny Wyatt has scored a maximum of 70 runs for the team. I don't know if it's enough to win. Because I have not seen any match of T20 format between these two teams in the past. At the end of 8 overs, the Australian women's team collected 58 runs losing 1 wicket. Both teams still have a chance to win the match.

ICC has announced T20 WC 2022 schedule. Super 12 will start on October 22 and the most important match of any icc event i.e. Pak vs India will on 24 Oct. India, Pak, SA and BAN are in Group B, while Aus, NZ, Afghan and England are in Group A. There will be two more teams in each group that will come from qualifying round.

Does anyone find out about Bangladesh Premier League(BPL)? BPL has started today and now I am enjoying the second match of BPL. Dhaka is now batting against Khulna. At the end of 13 overs, Dhaka collected 109 runs. Opener Tamim Iqbal is still unbeaten on 50 off 41 balls. Dhaka will be able to collect at least 60 runs in 7 more overs. If they can give more than 160 targets, maybe Dhaka will be able to win this match.

There is so much cricket these days that it is impossible to watch and keep track of each of the series. I am more interested in the Legends League Cricket 2022 over Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where you can find all the legends playing. It's nice to see some of our favorite cricketers in action though most of them don't have the same form.

I just keep an eye on leagues on cricinfo.com since there is too much cricket going on that's why many leagues are ignored. Congrats to KT for winning there first match. 183 was a bign target but KT manage to chase it quite easily with 6 balls remaining. Star performer was Rony Talukdar who scored 61 runs of just 42 balls. He must be man of the match.

No, some good number of matches are playing around like BBL, bilateral series between South Africa vs India, Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe Afghanistan vs Netherlands U19 CWC, and now we have West Indies vs England, so many peoples are not having enough time to check updates about this league which is already playing at wrong time because sports calendar is really full of Australian Open and currently Soccer leagues are also on very interesting stage so not many are interested in this league which is now going on without any big player due to this all busy schedule. But good thing is, they are having some good local interest, even facing some serious issues with Corona, which is going to have another variant.

Despite the COVID issue, a number of overseas players are taking part in this year's edition. I checked the squad list for this year's edition and those who caught my eye are Andre Russell, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Sunil Narine, Oshane Thomas, Chadwick Walton, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Colin Ingram. Some of the Sri Lankan players had to pull out, because the SLC refused to provide NOC. I watched the highlights of the first two matches and they looked interesting enough. BCB has been able to start BPL very well even in covid-19. But I don't know if they can continue BPL. This is because coronavirus infections are on the rise in India and Bangladesh. The government may decide to lockdown again.
The arrival of too many star players in the BPL did not happen. Yet BPL seems to be becoming enjoyable. I saw the highlights of both the matches on the first day. The match between Dhaka and Khulna was very competitive and enjoyable.

I really doubt that many types of cricket it is going to continue especially after India has their second number of record cases of coronavirus yesterday.

And the coronavirus situation is also on the rise in Bangladesh and almost all the other neighboring countries.

It's hard to imagine players and event the cricket boards to take that risk of continuing cricket tournament under this situation. Even though these types of tournaments bring a lot of money for the boards, players'  safety cannot be compromised under any circumstances.

BIG BASH LEAGUE
I will enjoy the match of Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers of Big Bash League today. Because the Scorchers are now at the top of the points table and Sydney's position is at second place in the table. Both teams are in good form. This is why I think today's match will be competitive. I will not bet on this match. I will only enjoy the match.

BANGLADESH PREMIER LEAGUE
The match between Sylhet and Comilla is being held in BPL now. Sylhet's collection 78/7 in 16 overs. We definitely want to see big scores in the franchise tournaments match. It is annoying to see such weak batting.

Sylhet lost all their wickets in 19.1 overs and collected only 96 runs. It was not expected that Sylhet would bat so badly in the first match. In particular, I would say that the condition of the domestic players is very bad. Opener Anamul Haque made 3 runs, playing 9 balls. Mohammad Mithun made 5 runs off 7 balls. And Mosaddek Hossain made 3 runs from 6 balls. All three of the domestic players are experienced players of the team.

Such leagues are beneficial for players like Gayle, Afridi who retired from international cricket or players who are not playing international cricket for some reason. I can't recall how many leagues are going on right now, this is badly disturbing international cricket. It seems like future lies in these leagues and little room for international cricket.
