With such an irregular squad, Sri Lanka managed to score 164 runs against Australia. I think this is a big achievement for them now. My prediction was that Australia would win all the matches unilaterally. Sri Lanka fought hard in this match. Sri Lanka were able to score 164 runs due to the outstanding batting of opener Nissanka. I hope Australia wins the next matches too.

We were expecting an easy whitewash from Australian side but Sri lanka in last game proved that they have strength to fight. In T20, every team has equal chance of winning, like if you see West indies team they are zero in ODI and Test but put up good show in T20 series against England lately. The next 3 matches of  this series will be interesting too.

The match was not easy for Sri Lanka, but their opening batsman Pathum Nissanka has completed great innings and they were able to draw the game with a lot of fighting against Australia.

Due to Hazlewood's death over, the Lankans were able to score only 5 runs in that over and in return, Australia won their match by spending only 2 balls.

Overseas players are vital cog in a IPL machinery but franchise can't go after every foreign players. Demand and supply matters, for example if there are tons of solid openers and spinners available for the limited slots then obviously many would go unsold. Just look at every squad, almost every squad has at least 2-3 Indian batters who are ready to open the inning for their respective franchise, same with the spinners.

On budget i think BCCI should increase the overall purse, let's say additional 30% if not 50% because they earn shitload amount of time but with IPL they are into only business, that's it. Yeah it does help players on many account but its purely business. This brings another point if some players are not available for full season then they clearly don't deserve big amount, no matter how talented you are.

Yes, that's correct that all franchise has a habit of overspending on some undeserving players be it overseas or local but it also true that their value would go down drastically if they don't deliver, unless they are extremely talented. Remember its not a charity but investment for the franchise.

Overseas players are often bought with a lot of money but a lot of time we can see that they leave because of international duty and many other reasons.

I think the other reasons can be forgiven but if the IPL knows that someone will have to leave because of international competition then I think they shouldn't be bought for or the money for him should be less. And some players are also going to get unsold because not everyone can get a team and there are just so many players.

I know that the franchise have a habit of spending and I absolutely agree because I really cannot see some of the players being worth the money that they were bid for. I think the bidding could have been smarter, to be honest.

In PSL, bad days for karachi continuous as they picked there 7th consecutive defeat of the tournament. This time Karachi was unlucky as they lost just by one run. Islamabad gave target of 191 runs, in reply karachi scored 190 runs. Qasim akram and Imad from Karachi scored 50s but in vain. Not sure how much more wait karachi has to do for there first win.

With one run short against Islamabad United, Karachi Kings continue their winless streak in PSL 2022. This has been a disaster year for Karachi Kings. It's sad to see but the team has poor bowlers so Babar Azam alone can't accomplish anything. There's an overall combination problem. Babar Azam, the T20I team's specialist batter, failed to accelerate when required.

Only Babar Azam cannot make a team win because it takes the whole team and combined effort of all the players to win the match and I think Karachi Kings are really weak in the Bowling department because they don't have that good or impact bowlers in their team.

and I also think that Babar Azam is not being able to accelerate when required because he also needs the help of his teammates and they need to bat around him. all these things have to come together for this team to win.

This is the prime reason why I quit making bet on cricket matches. You make a handy bet on favorite team and for some reason your team lost the game and you lose all your money. It happened with me lots of time. Now after this match odds must be in favour of Sri Lanka team. Sri Lanka need to play well to keep this series alive.  

T20 is a very unpredictable game. Even teams such as Netherlands, Scotland and Hong Kong have defeated nations with test status in this format of the game. And that is also one of the reasons why the odds are more attractive in this format. And irrespective of whatever we say about Sri Lanka, we need to admit that they can spring up a surprise at any point of time (as seen from the second T20 match, that was tied). They have some very good players such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera and Pathum Nissanka. 

T20 is the least skill-based game in cricket in my opinion.
because the whole game seems like if you can hit the ball out of the ground and take some singles here and there you will be fine,
and you have the same 10 wickets that you get in one day international and test cricket, so the Batman has more luxury to go for the big shots.

And if we talk about the bowlers, only one ball is actually effective in any situation and that is the yorker. Almost every other ball seems to be easy to heat out of the park in t20 cricket and that's why this game is really unpredictable, especially this format.

The third T20 match between Australia and Sri Lanka will be held just one hour later. This series is quite interesting. Australia won the first match by 20 runs. However, they won in the D/L method. In the third match, Australia gave a target of 165 runs. This match was drawn. Australia won at one-over eliminator. I hope we can see some surprises in the third match. Sri Lanka's performance has improved. Even if they win today, it is not surprising. However, as usual, the favorite in this match is Australia.

I don't think we can see anything interesting things today. Australia won the toss and elected to field. At the moment, Sri Lanka lost 4 wickets for 69 runs in 14 overs. Their run rate is only 4.92. I don't think Sri Lanka will win with less than 150 targets. Australian batsmen are in good form now. Australia will win this match as usual.

Sri Lanka was able to give a target of only 122 runs. Is it a bowling pitch? I think so. Sri Lankan players have a lot of problems today collecting runs. If Sri Lanka could have collected more than 140 today, they might have won.
Australia are batting now. At the end of the first over, Australia collected 2/1. Ben McDermott returned to the dressing room with zero runs in the first ball.

I don't think the current Sri Lankan team is very strong, they have played hard against Australia. Sri Lanka lost the second innings for a short while.
They could have won the last match but the collection of the Lankans was much less, if it was above 150 then the probability of winning was 80%. The Lankans could not score big runs here without Pathum Nissanka so they scored only 121 runs.

Australia chased down 121 runs and Glenn Maxwell's great innings of 39 off 27 balls helped them to an easy victory over Sri Lanka by 6 wickets.

The mega auction of IPL 2022 was for Indian cricketers as the franchises were given more priority to Indian players.

It is clear that they want to make good quality players from their country through IPL. And if they don't, then foreign cricketers will get good profits from their country. With this in mind, the franchises have given opportunities to all types of players in India, from spinners, all-rounders, wicket-keepers, to past tunes. This will lead to the discovery of quality cricketers in the Indian national team.

I was going through some articles related to it and found out that in 2019 the value in INR was 47500 crore and in 2020 it was 45800 crore. With the inclusion of two new teams I guess it should surpassed the 50k mark. Do you guys think so?

An excuse, no matter what, not pick unfair to Raina. He deserves another chance. It appears that Chennai Super Kings deliberately neglected Raina. It would be great if one of their players got injured and they picked Raina to replace him. Injuries, national duty, concerns about COVID, and so many other factors will reason that some unsold players will be picked later on.

N Srinivasan openly threatened Suresh Raina after he withdrew from the IPL last year. So it was not surprising to see CSK not bidding for him. But I don't know why the other franchises refused to bid for him. Why they are acting like a cabal? With Indian players in great demand this time around (even Karun Nair attracted a bid of 140 lakh INR), it was surprising to see a player with such a good record in the IPL going unsold. Raina is just 35 years old and I believe that he still has 3-4 years of prime cricket left with him.

I think these are media rights numbers for 1 cycle. I think overall BCCI earn minimum 500-600 Millon usd every year through IPL

Anyway bidding for IPL rights are about to take place soon and if i go by BCCI estimates then they are expecting almost 3x amount of money when compare to 2018-22 cycle (16000-ish crore ). So additional 45000 Crore 2023-27 cycle.

Yes, I know how bidding works. Sometimes you need to make sure that the opposition wastes their money on things that are not so useful.
But people have to be careful because waste strategy can backfire very easily if the opposition figures out what is happening.

I'm sure Khaleel Ahmed as a player is worth less than that. They are better and worthy players than him to buy. I'm not saying that the money was wasted but it was not the best investment either.

West Indies scored 157 runs which would not be enough against the strong batting lineup of India. Nicholas Pooran played a brilliant innings of 61 and the captain Kieron Pollard also chipped in and make a quick 24 but i think that west indies are 20 to 30 runs short. If WI wants to win this one, they need to take quick wickets right from the beginning.

Yesterday we witnessed the exchanges of the most controversial signs when the  pakistan bowler Sohail Tanvir under fire after obscene gesture on the field. Although both players were later fined 15% of the match fee but it was exciting to watch war scenes amount players inside the ground. PSL entertainment can't be compared with any league in the world.

Pocket dynamite aka Ishan Kishan is not doing well according to his reputation but India doing okay i suppose. India should win this game easily, i would be very surprise if this goes down to last over or India lose.

I would like to hear Harsha more when India playing any test series. He's flagbearer for Indian commentators.

This is not entertainment just nonsense and PCB must punish both of them so no one dare to do it again. Entertainment is seeing karachi scoring 174 runs. Finally they manage to give a decent target. Except Babar Azam all batsman of karachi contributed there part. Can karachi win today ?
