In terms of captaincy, two players impressed everyone this time - Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson. On the other hand, those who disappointed us are - Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja. For the other four captains, I have more or less neutral opinion (Rohit Sharma, Kane Williamson, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul). If Hardik is able to cement his position in the Indian team, then it may not be a bad idea to make him the captain of the T20 side. Samson is not a regular, so it is going to be hard for him.

Kohli is not captain of RCB rather du plesis did that job for RCB. I don't know why you have neutral opinion about Rohit whose team failed miserably to win its first game after i straight losses. Remember level of international cricket is always way ahead of any league. Pandya is right now axed from Indian T20 squad, just bring him back and see first whether he can perform in T20I or not.

Gujrat Titans came and took the title with them convincingly. They were the best team throughout the tournament and they won the final rather crushed through the final beating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets.
The Player of the final was none other than Hardik Pandya  Smiley  Took 3 wickets in 4 overs and give only 17 runs. What better performance you need in the final match.
Gujrat players had a high moral and they played wonderful throughout the tournament.
Better luck to Rajasthan Royal .. Finally a long long tournament came to an end.
What's coming in the T20 world now? What are we going to discuss next?

The captain of the franchise league and the captain of the national team are not the same. You have to be much more experienced to be the captain of the national team. Pandya was the captain of Gujarat and he won the title. This does not mean that he deserves to be the captain of the national team. He has to be more experienced and of course he has to perform well. The first step is to secure your place in the team. I think now Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul is suitable as captain for India team.

This is right - maybe after the win people get emotional and suggest the person to reach to the higher pedestal.
But if he is unable to perform, they he is backlashed with the same strength. Let Pandya enjoy his win - and let's see what's coming up next for the winners.

BCCI had done something good after the IPL for the curators and groundsmen across 6 IPL venues. A sum of 1.25 crore as prize money have been announced for the unsung heroes of IPL. Without them it is impossible to have the grounds prepared before every match. This time Cadbury made a sponsor and this time BCCI announced the good prize money which gets the unsung heros small bonus.

I would have rather liked if this amount was divided up among all the curators and groundsmen employed by the BCCI. Sharing them with a small batch doesn't make any sense, as there are dozens of first-class cricket grounds across India. This time the IPL was restricted to just 6 venues, and what this means is that only a small fraction of the staff would benefit from this move by the BCCI. Someone who toils hard on the ground in Dharamshala or Shillong also deserves as much recognition and reward as someone who works at the Brabourne Stadium.

This is incredible news and kinda unexpected move from the BCCI.

It's not an easy task to keep pitches fresh and alive when you have 70 matches on few pitches but ground staff pulled it off beautifully so please to see this nice gesture from the BCCI management.

They were some extremely intense games. In recognition of their hardwork, the management wants to thank each one of them.
BCCI announced Rs 1.25 crore for the prize money awarded to the groundsmen and curators who made the IPL 2022 successful. BCCI's management has clearly made a nice gesture with this, and such activities help to boost these unsung heroes' work abilities.

Agreed. Am surprised to see corrupt BCCI do a good thing for a change. They are probably trying to improve their image by doing this which could be their ulterior motive, but it still helps all of those workers and their families which is what matters at the end of the day.

They need to do such stuff on a regular basis considering the fact that 1.25 crores is a small amount for them.

This is really great from BCCi and also a very smart decision because they gave away a huge amount of money and they gave away in a way that the money is going to be used for the best of cricket in India.

Usually, this huge amount of incentive is going to interest the workers to do their work very well in the future. Now a lot of people who are also looking for a job in this sphere are not going to be ashamed or disheartened. These people working well will eventually result in the betterment of cricket. So it is a win-win situation for BCCI.

I don't want to go in to that detail. Whatever their motive is, they at least made the payment. The BCCI can afford to show such largesse in the near term, because they are awash with money now. They received almost $2 billion for the two new franchises. And very soon the media rights for the 2023-27 season will be auctioned (which is expected to bring a few billions of USD in additional funds). On top of all this, the ICC funding cycle is coming to an end, and according to what I heard in the next cycle the BCCI may receive a larger share.

Very good work by the BCCI and this shows how much appreciation the unsung heroes of cricket should get. It was a really good amount and I think this type of gift should be given to the groundsman and curators after each tournament. But obviously, it is easy for BCCI to do this because they obviously have a good amount of revenue which the other t20 tournaments certainly struggle to produce.

I mentioned this earlier. The BCCI is expecting around 50,000 crore INR in revenue for the sale of IPL media rights for the cycle of 2023-27. Back in 2017-22, Star India won the rights for 16,348 crore INR, but this time the reserve price itself is 35,000 crore INR. And 7-8 brands are in the fray now, including Star, Sony, Apple, Amazon, TV18, Zee and Disney. And 50,000 crore for a period of 5 years translates to 10,000 crore per year, and that is from IPL alone. The BCCI for sure has the potential to become the richest sports body in the planet.

This is the same BCCI that did not have funds to give winning bonus to their players after they won the 83 worldcup. They had to organize a musical charity to pay them. In 21-22 they not only gave bonus to the U-19 team but have now also given bonus to the unsung heroes of IPL. This is an incredible gesture on part of BCCI.

BCCI seems to have a change of heart nowadays, first handing over incentives to ground staff and now news coming out that they are actively working towards Women IPL. They are in talks with other cricket boards and ICC for separate window for WIPL.

Key points:
- 6 teams
- Existing IPL franchise already showing some interest (KKR, RR and CSK)
- Suitable window -March- just before the Men's IPL.

@JSRAW if the WIPL gets going then it’ll be a huge step for the Women cricket all over the world, because WIPL will generate lots of buzz for them, and hopefully in the long run they’ll get similar respect and recognition like their male counterparts. However don’t you’ll think that it’ll be too hot in March?, and won’t it have an effect on spectators views about watching the match in the stadium, hence why can’t it take place in December or January when the Indian climate is much cooler?.

March is not considered hot month compared to April-May-June so it should be completely fine, if setting is day-night then situation is ideal.

July to Nov are kinda fixed for Caribbean league, WBBL and The Hundred, then in Dec to Feb some countries (NZ, SA,Aus) have bilateral commitments .

Other leagues such as WBBL and W100 run at the same time as the men's leagues. But I understand that due to revenue concerns, the BCCI won't be open to that idea. But still, I am glad that after such a long delay they are finally starting the WIPL. It is good news not just for the women's cricketers in India, but also for the overseas players. Given the aversion IPL franchises have for associate players, I don't expect anyone from Thailand or Nepal to be auctioned in, but 6 franchises mean that there maybe a few dozen overseas players from countries such as Australia, England and West Indies.

This is indeed a good news for women cricket. Finally we have a much awaited WIPL. Players will mostly be from top countries like Australia, Newzealand and England while associate nations won't get much importance. Leagues like IPL are for big players only.

I think December or January is not going to be ideal because there will be a dew factor and that is going to play a big role that can also be a deciding factor for many matches. It should be held at a time when it is neither too cold nor too hot. And in cold weather, a lot of people in India will surely favor watching the match on TV or any other platform by sitting at home under a warm blanket compared to watching the match in a stadium. I believe women's IPL will be a great step taken in favor of women's cricket and it will surely popularise women's cricket a lot more in the whole world.
