It's a big win for SMB they guarded mikey Williams very well, as I said above SMB will revenge tonight because of losing their  first game and then this game Perez, Fajardo and the rest of the team defended the deadliest weapon in TNT which is mikey willams and SMB did it and win the game even though only nine points ahead but still they are the winner. Congratulations for those who beting SMB.
That’s what we know about SMB defensively, they are able to execute more game plays and able to protect their lead, it’s a total team effort for SMB and still kudos to both teams for having a high scoring game 2. As expected, SMB won’t allot TNT to take a huge lead agains them, this is more exciting now to see them tied in the series. Game 3 will be crucial, and both team should learn from the previous games and adjust right away to take the lead. TNT should be more consistent and not to depend too much on Williams since he is guarded already.
I follow the suggestion of one user here to bet on SMB in game 2 and if they lose, bet more in game 3 since SMB won’t allow to end this series without a fight, and they did a convincing game for then tonight and probably will take that momentum into game 3. Williams are still great despite of being guarded, Imagine it’s just a 9 point game so technically TNT can really put a show against powerhouse SMB. I agree that game 3 is crucial and having a win advantage can be a good morale booster for either team, waiting for the odds now for game 3.
Now the series, is tied so there's no doubt that in game 3 TNT make some adjustment and I think more passing and teamwork they need to do to win the game 3 and also they need to focus on their outside shot and the follow-up to make some points.  But in the side of SMB if in 1st quarter they make a huge plays and scored will and take the lead then it's hard for TNT to win because we all know that SMB is a good defender they can manage their single lead.

Have the opportunity to watch the whole game (I will not let myself miss any Finals game from now on Cheesy) and it seems like Coach Chot's absence is a factor in this Game 2 win.

With regards to Mikey Williams, he didn't play most of the 2nd half because of the ankle sprain that he got in the 1st quarter and he only scored 7 points (conference-low) and Pogoy is scorching hot in the 1st half but went cold in the 2nd half. On the other hand, it's Perez and Manuel who carried the team in the 3rd quarter and because of that, they got the momentum and didn't look back. My prediction is almost right that SMB will win by double digits if only Rosario didn't shoot that final shot Cheesy.

This is how deadly the SMB is right now. Most of their players might be inexperienced when it comes to PBA Finals but their coach has a lot of it already and he knows what he will do to his players. I'm also happy that Coach Leo already adjusted from his old style of focusing most of the offense to JMF to now focusing the offense to all of his players. Now you will see Lassiter, Perez, Cruz, Manuel, Tautuaa and others scoring double digits and when this points is distributed among many players, you will know that they are a deadly and hard team to beat. JMF only scored 13 points and didn't shoot much like what he did in Game 1 and I guess he's ok with it as long as the team wins.

I have noticed that most points of San Miguel Beermen were done inside. SMB took advantage of the lack of centers of TNT and they make sure that most plays will be designed for their tall guys. Look at how Vic Manuel easily can throw his hook shot because he knows TNT is not doing a help defense every time he will do an isolation play and post-up. JMF is also hard to defend that when he was about to double team, there will be other SMBs that will have an easy look.

The only way TNT to get an advantage over the SMB is to be better at the outside shot. They are better in terms of 3PT FG% over SMB. Even though Mikey Williams and Jayson Castro only have small production, they make the score close in 3 quarters. Need a push from them thru outside shooting.
56 points in the paint compare to 38 for the TNT. Even though the TNT have 2 big players in the paint, the SMB isn't afraid of driving and scoring near the ring. Vic Manuel's perimeter shot is a given already because it is his bread and butter. When you see him shoot perimeter shots, most of the time it always went in and let's not forget how good he is in footwork. It's also the reason why he can score inside and in the perimeter.

I think Mikey Williams not in his usual shape is the problem for the TNT right now. He only scored 7 points in Game 2 but if he scored more than 20 points, the result might be different. 3PT shooting is the main weapon of the TNT but it's a double-edged sword because if you can't make your 3-points, it might hurt the team but TNT has been successful on that one so maybe they might focus more on 3PT shooting.

SMB was able to limit the pass for Williams, they defended it well and it's good that Perez activated in game 2. Castro is quiet not consistent in game 2 though they took the lead in 3rd quarter, it's just that SMB are more determined to win and in 4th quarter, they pull away and secure the lead. If the same SMB will go into game 3, most probably they will win again, they have to stick with their momentum and do better again, will put some bet with SMB in game 3, I know they can take the lead.

Both teams are doing their job in acknowledging the advantages, but SMB got an upper hand here since they can take everyone on one easy basket or if double come around, they can pass the ball to another free player and it will take the shot, I see this from the start of these finals where both teams will design plays according to how they will see their advantages,

outside mark is for TNT if the rotations will be good for them they've got the advantage to create a space with speed and good ball movement coming from the guards and respectively to their core they really have guards that can be recognized as top from the league.

They need to keep Mikey Williams get going, if he cannot contribute as usual, then surely the team will suffer. Castro is good, but he cannot play heavy minutes anymore, he is more effective in the 4th quarter and he has become hero many times already giving the team a win.

Unfortunately Williams was being guarded very well, and that's why SMB took the win and probably they will limit it again in the next game. Castro should still contribute on the early part of the game because it's hard to chase the lead in the 4th quarter so they have to make this game close to SMB or else, they will suffer more. TNT should prove that they didn't win the game 1 by luck, they should play better next game.

You cannot put a good man down. Mikey Williams will recover in the next game but I think SMB will be prepared for it. Whatever adjustment they make next game, SMB will be able to adjust to it as well. Note that TNT's head coach is out next game, and SMB have coach Austria on their side. Adjustment-wise, SMB has the advantage during the game. If they get mismatched or outplayed, Coach Leo can make quick adjustments.

This might be off topic but it's worth the discussion here.

Has someone put a bet for tomorrow's game between the Philippines vs Lebanon? Just this afternoon when i looked at the odds between them it was almost even but now the Philippines is the favorite @1.63 while for Lebanon it's 2.24.

Can Jordan Clarkson and Kai Sotto bring the Gilas back to its winning ways or their addition is just a hype to the Gilas team.

Have put my bet offline as it is my colleague give me a +3 Philippines  Grin.

Having Clarkson gives Gilas a great chance to compete, so I would not hesitate taking that moneyline or the spread. We have a tall center, and Clakson who is an NBA player, not an ordinary NBA player as he won the 6th man of the year before. Most probably the, the ball will be on Clarkson most of the time, hopefully he will get hot so Philippines will win.

Even I'm not a fan of Chot Reyes i believe that our selections are good enough with the leadership of JC and Kai both have international experienced and just like you mentioned JC is a 6th man player of the year so if the design of the play will focus on him and the supporting cast will play their respective roles, I can see a good chance for the Nationals to win.

Just allow the rotation to give a good breathing for each star to gain strength while resting. Players like Parks, Ramos and Newsome

can give some rest for JC while Aguilar, Tamayo and Malonzo will be there for Kai.

Do you have any idea where to watch the game? I am also intrigued by how JC and Kai will fit the system of coach Chot. I am looking for links online to watch the stream of the game, but I cannot find any.

I will not take action in this because I have no idea if these two will fit the system. They only have a few days, I think, of practice. Maybe, on the next games.

I don't get why coach Chot give so much time with Keifer much better to let Parks play and help JC and Dwight. Almost a win, but Lebanon really fought well. That big block of Kai helps Lebanon to seal the game. It's really annoying, but we can't ask for more from our Nationals. They try their best but the rotations is something is that really important.

Not enough rest for both Kai and JC, which really feel exhausted. They try to keep running, but the Lebanese are always there
and not giving them easy shots.

Congrats to Lebanon though and hopefully from hope the National fought today they'll lesson from it! Hope for the best!

Gilas still did a great job knowing that Lebanon is not an easy opponent, we fell short but still kudos to our players. We cannot blame the coaching staff anymore, since they did a great job it’s just that we are dealing with the Silver medalist and we can really say that Lebanon has improved a lot. Moving on into the next game, I’m pretty sure we have a better chance to win against our next opponent, so let’s continue to support them.

The problem with our current system is politics, we know that there’s too much politics in basketball and we cannot expect too much from them if we still have this system. Its still a good game but of course a lose record can hurt our opportunity to proceed into the next round. Well, Lebanon is a strong team and they have a good connection while Gilas only trained for a week but still kudos for them for giving their hearts out. Gilas future is bright, the only problem is the system.

I was not able to watch the game live but I was able to check the box score and stats. It seems that turn over and 3 points is the cause of Gilas failure to win. Gilas commited 21 turnover against 9 from Lebanon. While lebanon have 31% 3 points percentage against 26 of Gilas. Other stats, Gilas dominated Lebanon. Too bad they were not able to convert those advantage to a win. I am sure Coach Reyes will get a lot of flak from social media, again, because of this.

Gilas next match is with Saudi Arabia. With this current lineup, I expect them to dominate that game

We are better compare to Saudi Arabia team so probably another high expectation for the Gilas on their next game.
Gilas against Lebanon was a great game, though we failed at least we know where to improve especially on creating good chemistry among the players which I think is our lack since they only trained for a week and that's not enough for an international competition. Well, we should not blame Coach Reyes alone, we should blame the system where are athletes didn't get much of a support from our own government.

A close game by Gilas. Not bad against one of the top teams in Asia. Lebanon even said that the game was so tough and the Philippines gives them a competitive match. Jordan Clarkson slows down in the second half after becoming a scoring machine in the first half. He exceeded his usual playing time in the NBA. He played the entire second half of this game aside from more minutes he played in the half. Although he can, that is exhausting.

At least, they now see how their chemistry works. Hoping for an adjustment next game.

Know your facts, mate. Basketball is even one of the sports that the government is giving so much support to.

Do you remember that just a month ago, some Senators form a triumvirate just to focus on Gilas?

Waste of time, waste of money in a sport where we know we have lots of disadvantages globally

That was a bullshit move for me wherein there are other sports that the Philippines is better. Basketball is not for us in Asian competitions, especially in International competitions. That's the reality that we need to accept. We just really love Basketball, that's it.

Lebanon is the one who fought Australia in the Fiba Asia Cup Finals 2022 so they are at the top right now so seeing Gilas losing by only 4 points to them is a net positive already.

Lack of preparation might be one of the reason why they lost because preparing for the big stage is very helpful for that chemistry to build up. Let's also add the fact that Clarkson really lose his hot shooting in the final minutes of the game.  If he only maintained that one then the Gilas has a chance. Turnovers is also a big factor as well because they got 21 turnovers against 9 from Lebanon. We know that the team who is turning the ball over many times tend to lose most of the time and that's what happened to Gilas.

Overall, it's a good game for the Gilas team and let's move on and focus on their next opponent which is Saudi Arabia which the Gilas is heavily favored. I'm expecting adjustments as well especially in their turnovers.

You observe well and that's true JC got exhausted I guess playing the whole 2nd half together with Kai, It's a great help from Aguilar and Ramos but ain't enough in terms of rotations, Just an opinion, Fajardo, Perez, Poguy and Erram if PBA only being considerate that might change the outcome of this game.

Though just like what the coach said, no need to win but to learn and hope that they will see this lapses and they will find ways to improve, I'm hoping for the best as having JC and Kai brings our National back to the respect of Asian basketball fans.

Almost a win. Those who watched the game don't have to say anything against our squad. They do everything at their best, but
Lebanese really fought and defend their home-court pride!

At least this time the game is close, they need to make good adjustments next game, we cannot blame them because their chemistry is not that good. Some people are blaming coach Chot, well, I guess that's normal, as long as he stays with the Gilas as a coach, people will always see his mistakes.
