An offshore/guest team can handle the finances as they're known to have a stronger currency than us. They've got a budget and it's a lot for them to have its mainstay in the PBA for so long so, I'm sure that they can really do that.

It is still business though. Let's say for argument's sake that they can finance an extended period of stay here in the Philippines to play for PBA, do you think that the expense will justify the profit they can make from playing here? It is good for a single conference because the experience they get from playing here is invaluable. But for longer periods it is not justifiable anymore. They will be bleeding money with very little return. That is not good for business.

You're point, if it's about the experience, there can be other better places to join instead of having their team into PBA. I think one factor that they can lean on is that PBA is the oldest league in Asia and that's why they're willing to spend as much as they can.
But from a business perspective, you're telling it correctly. If there's no way for them to profit and get some returns out of their expenses and capital for supporting the team and staying in the league then they're not willing to spend that much.

Indeed, the idea of staying just for the sake of playing the game is not justifiable in terms of money involvement, the fact that they will spend a lot of money during their stay without or only expecting a small amount of return that is something that the visiting team needs to take a closer look, though we don't know what might be the deal between them and PBA.

I'm not sure where I read some articles before in which it's not just one visiting team that might be possible to play inside PBA, we may see other visiting teams that will also participate from the oldest league in Asia.

I agree with you, the first game might not the best thing to base his greatness he just arrive and the chemistries among them is not that established yet, and the locals or his teammates didn't perform well so again it's not good to bring all the burden in his shoulders, the only thing here is the team will be meeting another caliber squad in their next game, Nicholson will be tested here and if in case another loss he might be judge and the management might activate Powell instead of him in their next following games..

Against the AFC champions, I think the Dragons have the better chance of winning because the system of coach Leo Austria is very much different than that run-and-gun game of Ginebra and one of the scorers of SMB will be guarded by that 7'5 giant which we all that if Fajardo is guarded by a player taller than him, he will have a problem. The only hope of the Beermen here is if Diamond will have another brilliant game, 50-point would help the cause hehe.

It's been two years since they stated that and I think that they've recovered enough already and everybody starts to recover. And I'll just insert here about SBP. They're asking for 1.5B pesos from the government for hosting the Fiba world cup.

Having a guest team like Bay Area Dragons is helpful for the improvement of our local team, especially teams in PBA. Since this team is really dominant over almost all teams in the PBA, it's a good challenge and test to compete against this kind of team.

Look at how things went so far. Since Bay Area Dragons are being hyped and known for their strong performance, that might be the reason why Ginebra becomes red hot when they faced this team recently because the big excitement is there. TNT, if I remember it right, also did that kind of action with Alapag and De Ocampo not sure though if both went to Meralco or maybe only De Ocampo was traded? The amount is not stated I believe, it's not as transparent as the NBA but for sure it's still a good amount for a veteran and still the leader of the team. Castro approach in playing now is still very effective, he does not play plenty of time, they just save him for fourth quarter big run to win.
