If the PBA wants to grow, they can increase the number of teams so more players with potential will have a chance to play. Some players in the B-League did not play in the PBA before they get to that league, some names are Thirdy Ravena, Kobe Paras and Dwight Ramos. So B-Leauge does not only focus their selection from the PBA, but in the entire basketball league in the Philippines.
Speaking of Dwight Ramos, seems he has built a name on his own in Japan and the way i looked at it, he is now a superstar plus the fact that his looks is not far from a Japanese actor, seems to me that we have to wait for a long time before we can see him play in the PBA. This no-nonsense kid is earning a lot so i think an offer of contract extension is likely to happen. I just don't know why the PBA is having a hard time expanding. There are many companies years ago who have offered to enter the PBA but that didn't materialized maybe because of conflict of business interest. When Phoenix tried to enter PBA for the first time, it was blocked by Petron. Chooks-to-go has sent an intent to join PBA but one team suddenly changed its name to Magnolia Hotshot "Ang Pambansang Manok" lol. PBA is not for everyone, so eventually, this league will be surpassed by a better league and I guess MPBL is a close competition. I like their set up, more like an NBA set up and players are really given an opportunity. PBA will not change for sure as long as the Pangilinan and Cojuangco are the major owners of the team, they run the business and can influence the PBA management.

And if MPBL will be handled well by its organizer for sure this league will have better chances since it really gives huge chances for talented indivual to show their skills and play in pro league.

Good way to expand the talents of pinoy basketball stars. You said it right if the handlers will be able to manage this league the right way, the chance for many young athletes to grow and be compensated, most of those collegiate athletes tend to land a team inside PBA but if MPBL start to reign up and provide quality to their league. It will open a big door for every young aspirant not to only think about PBA but also to aim for landing a team this other alternative. Better to see more opportunities that will give talents a decent reward with their hard work.

I doubt that will solve all the mess. Look at just the status today, at least 3-4 teams are dumped. What the league should do is to restrict unfair trades so talents are distributed since we can't deny the fact that SMC all has the money to sign everybody. The addition of other teams might just increase another farm team. It's a gamble for the league. Look at Blackwater, playing like a Barangay level and can't even contribute to the revenue of the league even for a live audience. I support the expansion but the league has to review some imbalance trade.

I remember these scenario, looks like big companies are trying to manipulate the whole PBA system, and as you can see some teams are sister company in reality, they really want to monopolize the system and yet, PBA also wants this since there's money on that.
Since big companies that are already in the PBA are having a good set of players, these teams are some of the big reasons why PBA is getting a crowd. Therefore, a win-win situation at both teams and the league. Without those teams, PBA won't be able to sustain their operation that's why they are keen on getting an expansion. Business as usual on which is not new. We need the next Manny Pacquiao that is willing to spend big money to enter the league. As per my comment about these players playing abroad, just let them play. These players will soon be back. I truly believe that it won't affect the current status of PBA since it's not that majority of the best players in the league will get that offer.

We know that PBA is the leading basketball league in the Philippines, but the real essence of competition is on the MPBL style or format, no sister team so no more speculation of rigged games.

PBA will stay like that if there's no changes in the management, we already know what's the motives of Pangilinan and Cojuangco, for them it's just a pure business. Unlike the MPBL who really showcases the talents of the aspiring local basketball players who wants to be play in the professional leagues and MPBL was never intented to be PBA's competitor but we can't deny the fact that MPBL is more realistic and fair when it comes to it's rules. For now MPBL is a semi-professional league but soon, it'll replace and dethrone PBA's spot for sure.

While with PBA, it's limiting the numbers of pinoy talents, even you have that skills if you don't get quality minutes to play you'll end up sitting on the bench and cheering with your teammates..

It doesn't matter if PBA is controlled by the reach persons in the Philippines, what matters is what league the fans will support.

In the Philippines, the minimum wage was not even Php 1k per day in 8 hours of work. Yes, that's true, and I think that is one of the reasons why some Filipinos choose to work/play in other countries. Like some PBA players who want to play in other country. some of them aiming a high-profit salary and some of them, They play cause they want to prove that PBA Filipino players can fight and win even though they are small players. Indeed, but these cases are rare because most of the players in the Philippines wants to join the PBA as it's the highest basketball league locally. And for others, well, we can't really blame them for pursuing their basketball dreams overseas as they can get paid more while showcasing their talents outside. They can but take note that the league is also a form of business. I had watched a youtube video months ago regarding why the PBA aren't considering adding more teams to the league and that is because big companies like SMC and MVP is preventing it. If they will allow to add more teams, there will more teams that will share the exposure to the public. I mean they will have more competitors in terms of marketing since the PBA added more teams in the league. It is also stated on that video that franchises like Cebuana and SM are interested in creating their own team in the PBA. On the other hand though, if this will happen then more opportunities for other players. They don't need to wait longer just to have spots in the teams that we have right now but they will have more teams to choose with. What are the chances that this will happen? I don't know because if the PBA really wanted to expand and add more teams then they should've done it long time ago already but they aren't doing it until now.

That's right, and the salary will be more competitive as well as the competition is getting tougher. Actually, we have a lot of talented basketball players but only few of them are given the opportunity due to the limited number of big leagues, with the increasing popularity of MPBL, that gives them a good chance.

That's right, and the salary will be more competitive as well as the competition is getting tougher. Actually, we have a lot of talented basketball players but only few of them are given the opportunity due to the limited number of big leagues, with the increasing popularity of MPBL, that gives them a good chance. The basketball league is a business, MPBL players will only get more players if they are making good money from sponsors and from the live audience. So they need to be more popular and get good coverage in our favorite channels. Maybe a live stream on youtube and Facebook too, that would help increase their popularity.

On the other hand though, if this will happen then more opportunities for other players. They will also hit the mainstream soon and become the second big professional league, this is indeed a side business for those companies and they earn a lot for sure on the previous conferences, MPBL need a good exposure and hopefully to give more talented Pinoy a chance to play. Basketball is growing in our country even if there’s a pandemic, it is still living on a good position.

Basketball is growing in our country even if there’s a pandemic, it is still living on a good position. More exposure gives them more chances to play overseas, now that Japan is getting Filipino imports, I think it will not only limit to that country as Asia is big and surely the talents of the Pinoy players will be noticed. They work hard and they'll be rewarded, and at the same time, it will excite our fans because we are goign to see them in bigger leagues.

I guess the PBA should be aware that the MPBL is improving, if they'll not improve then probably one day they'll be surprised that MPBL will be the top basketball league in the Philippines. It doesn't matter if PBA is controlled by the reach persons in the Philippines, what matters is what league the fans will support.
They are already aware. The competition of MPBL is better as not purely a business type compared to PBA but the downside, without the business side, how can they sustain the operation for years? PBA already has a lot of strong foundations that's why while others see a bad side of politics in PBA, there's also an advantage. MPBL is now a professional league and wants to see the season commencing again. I don't see it as a competition with PBA but maybe, more viewers will follow MPBL and the numbers are growing since the league was launched.

Good point, pinoy talents are everywhere and it's not limited to Japan B-League, there are many other basketball association where pinoy can play and earn decent compensation, for now, it's Japan but with the success of those pinoy pride we might see other countries to import our talents, we already been exposed after the Gilas run internationally. The team exposed how pinoy can compete with other solid national teams; it opens the doors of interest coming from other Countries to bring pinoy talents to their land..
