Those users that selling their invite via telegram is just probably joking to troll those users that keep asking for an invite code every week. Someone even asking for 20 invites in one go because of the misconception that the invite code is the only requirements to start mining Cheesy

Thing with invitations is real... There is missunderstanding caused by lack off experience when new people join or wanna join Idena.

So new people come and ask for invitations, they expect to get them easy...
But experience of people who are in Idena allready tells them to be cautious in regard to whom they are giving invitations, because, there are:
- Some fake accounts, made to ask for invites and to waste them on purpose, so network does not grow, so rewards stay nearly the same in next epoch (for current users)
- Random people who just stumbled on this project and ask for code, you give it to them, after they read more, and decide, well this is not for them (invitation wasted)
- People who can't pass validation... Either they have some computer problem, or they realy don't understand flip logic, or behind some firewall that produces crazy results (invitation wasted)

So... the best strategy is to give your invitation to your friends/family. If you don't have anyone else, you can start giving them out to random people, but you would still want them not to get wasted...
Great thing is that we can withdrawl our issued invitation... So you can recycle it if a person to whom you've given invitation, can't do validation for some reason...

Some people that are in Idena from begining, are keeping blacklist of accounts/scammers/invitations wasters...

I feel sorry for newcommers that don't get invitations fast, but its nothing personal...
When you get trough several epochs and your invitations get wasted few times you'll get the idea and experience/feeling of discontent...

I hope Andrew is reading this, I am only three weeks in this project and all these three weeks I always had a penalty, the penalty should prolong to at least 2 to 3 hours, you want to mine 12 hours daily but you cannot keep up sitting all these 12 hours, sometimes you have to go out or do other stuff and sometimes the connection is lost or the power went off, without you in front of your computer.

I've been working on a Idena Site, one stop place for additional FAQ's, tutorials and other usefull information.

Feel free to register an account which enables you to setup:
- Mining monitoring - notifies you by email if your node goes offline so you can react and restart it in time not to get penalty...
- Financial card - gives you an estimate of your current DNA holdings

What is easier?
1-Investing 3000$ in 1 antminer to mine bitcoin and hardly go on profit (or not)?
2-Investing 3000$ in 4x 1080TI to mine ETH and hardly go on profit (or not)?
3-Investing 3000$ in shitcoin to mine POS and loose 90% of money due to price fluctuation?
4-Download node and run it on 8$/month VPS or old PC and do validation each wee

First three options aren't easier than fourth. But in first case you are ended up with $3000 invested in a project and can hope for some dividends on that sum. In 4th option you can only hope for dividends on your $8/month worth of investment. Yeah, you can buy additional coins to get some leverage too. But buying/selling DNA is a problem currently cause there is no any exchange yet.

Right, the fourth option is the best choice for now to save more money. For exchanges, there is actually an OTC market in idena discord, but the price is still cheap to sell, but also there is still no official escrow that will help the transaction safely.

It seems that devs are not very responding...

In the latest version, I have fewer connections than in the previous one.
And you ?

Peer number has been limited to 18 as I have read from other people experience...
I see this as good thing, it limits the connections number, produces lower bandwith... less chance of node hanging in home grade router enviroment, and less vps monthly GB quote...
Can developers provide the right to choose the number of connections to users?
If someone has a powerful dedicated server, then why not to turn off this restriction. It would be good for network health.
Maybe it can be configured in some kind of configuration file?
Or integrate this option directly into the wallet?

Yes peers goes down from the usual 40 down to 15 - 18 at a time. Thank you for this clarification i thought this was a bad update.

~snip~

Then there should be an extensive faqs for real newbies, on my first day i can hardly understand how it works by reading the facts. Thanks to my upline who mentor me one on one to know the basic things about idena.

If i have sometime today i will make a newbie friendly faqs and step by step guide that will serve the newbiest of the newbie group

You are right, there should be youtube bounties for video tutorials as it was in the start but lasted shortly... No one was prepared for that...
Short videos that explains things per Identitie status... Candidate (validation/invitation) -- Newbie (mining/making flips/nodekey backup) -- Verified (Invitations/network growth)

It was possible in previous versions... I believe not now, someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong... I think devs are trying to make this as idiotproof as possible, as we realy are in testing stages... It will only get better and node will surely get more options... This IPFS and lib2p2 network is new deal, devs are trying to make it stable...

Yes, you can read it on the first page of a site, on the bottom:
"Join the Idena testnet now to get the advantage of early mining or subscribe to be notified about the Idena mainnet launch. The Idena mainnet launch is planned for Q3 2020. All the testnet balances will be kept in the mainnet."

Does anybody know how to calculate correctly how much DNA you will recieve for 1st, 2nd and 3rd successful validation of your invitee?

I could try but I leave that to Idena's blockchain...
As you don't know/can't predict how many validated identities there will be or succsessfull candidates passing validation, It's impossible to calculate it ahead.

25,920 DNA * number of days in epoch..
then take 32% of that for invitations reward
then group validations by 1st(1x), 2nd(x3), 3rd(x6)
and also apply some math where rewards are distributed "proportionally to the invited person's age⅓"
and distribute it to still Verified idenentities...

BTW, new version of the app was issued today - 0.16.7.

Changes:
- Peers management improvements
- Synchronization stuck bug fix
- API methods added (bcn_feePerByte, bcn_sendRawTx)
- Bug fixes

Update is recommended:
https://idena.io/?view=download

I just opened my wallet and there is indeed a client update but version 0.1.8. I also do not know for sure what is being repaired anymore because Andrew has not yet announced it via Idena telegram channel.

You can always see it ahead on github:
https://github.com/idena-network/idena-desktop/releases

We had two versions of client in past few hours:

0.1.7
🐛 Bugfixes - Prevent possible fatal crashes when checking node version by spawning process
💅 Enhancements - Better copywriting

0.1.8
🚀 Features - Report button
💅 Enhancements - Copywriting

I hope we are past validation black screen and killed identities trauma/lost stake...

Why total mined sum differs so much on scan.idena.io website from one epoch to another?

Example:
for epoch #0011 (10/08/19 - 10/12/19, 4 days) total mined is 363,101.98 DNA
for epoch #0013 (10/16/19 - 10/20/19, 4 days) total mined is 247,992.00 DNA

Other epochs also differ significantly from each other. Why is that? I thought that this sum is easy to calculate for any epoch of 4 days:
51840 x 4 = 207,360.00 DNA.

it differs on the number of blocks mined during those epochs

for epoch #0011 Block Mined - 30 256
for epoch #0013 Block Mined - 17 299

There could be 1 possible scenario, there are not enough node running/mining on epoch #0013 to move the blockchain faster like epoch #0011

i am not yet on that epoch so i don't know if an update was introduce to greatly reduce the emission after epoch #0011

I'm also not yet on Idena that time, there are a lot of complaints on Idena channel about wasted invitations one guy even go to the extent of selling his invitation code, so people who got the code will verify and it will not be wasted I don't think it's a good idea even if they promise that they will give back the money if they verified, why if the newbie fails the test, it's too early to monetize the code, we need more people coming in.

You can't monetize invitations because the guy that sells you the invitation could take the money and then kill your identity and also steal your stake during the first 3 epochs

That's the whole point glad that only one guy has this mindset of selling a code, we should educate people and ask them to undergo a test first before trying the actual verification, but not selling the code to them it's an invitation to scam people and it will give Idena a bad reputation in the community and it's a bad start for us.

One more validation twas today, and I think flips are getting a bit better and more logical.
There are some exceptions and bad flips, but in generally speaking most people will be able to solve flips.
We need to make the system super easy for humans and super hard for bots.

355 identities are validated

I can't agree with you about flips getting better. Below is given statistics on validation results:

Epoch #32: 625 flips in total, 3.2% of which are with weak consensus, 3.5% are without consensus, 2.0% are bad flips
Epoch #33: 729 flips in total, 3.8% of which are with weak consensus, 5.1% are without consensus, 2.3% are bad flips
Epoch #34: 887 flips in total, 7.1% of which are with weak consensus, 7.8% are without consensus, 1.1% are bad flips

So percentage of flips with weak consensus and without consensus is rising constantly.
