These matches can go either way. It's nice to see that low-rated teams can still do well. Many teams have a few good players but the rest is a lot less. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a champion in this tournament where no player plays in a top team of a top European competition. Lots of mistakes are made, but that adds to the entertainment value.
Unfortunately, the success of weak teams is due more to the poor performance of the favorites than to the increased level of all teams. I don't understand why the clear favorites play against underdogs relying on defense and as a result, ridiculous illogical goals decide the fate of the match. It seems to me that if several teams from South America or Europe (not the strongest) played in this tournament, they would have won this tournament with a crushing score.

Morocco is controlling the match. But Malawi is more likely to win.
The score is 1-1 now at half time. Morocco to win after 90min is at 1.26, Malawi is at 26. If you really believe Malawi can come back to win, you should put your money on it Malawi has been playing defensively since score the first goal. It is very annoying to enjoy such defensive gameplay. However, despite playing defensively, they were not able to defend themselves. They conceded a goal in 45 + 2 minutes and drew 1-1 for the first time. From Malawi's gameplay, I understand that if they try and score more goals in the second half they will concede a few more goals. Morocco looks to be playing more aggressively to add to the score but Malawi tight defense has made all efforts from Morocco just in vain so far, I don't know what made Malawi do a total defense and even they were only able to create 4 chances with 2 of them shot on target, I think if Malawi continues to just defend, it certainly doesn't rule out the possibility that their defense will make mistakes and allow the Morocco strikers to score later.

Morocco 2 - 1 MalawiI hope the game ends soon and I can make a profit, I'm not able to watch the game on the internet, but I'm still looking for how to watch the game. Morocco and Malawi is playing a defensive game, despite that Morocco possession is making is of advantages than Malawi, but what the country needs is goals is not all about the possession and accuracy, the way am even seeing the match i think it will end up with penalty and the luckiest team can win with chance, but if Morocco leave defensive and add more pressure they can win Malawi.
As I am not able to watch the game, I have little or nothing to comment, are you watching it on TV or on the internet?

Morocco have just taken a deserved lead, and the score is now 2-1, with about 20 minutes to go. It's pretty much been a one-sided game with Morocco fully dominating every aspect of the game, and there might be one more goal, if care isn't taken as Malawi were rather lucky not to have conceded a penalty few minutes before the goal. They (Morocco) are imho opinion the best side in the competition right now.

Oh I am very late, I didn't pay attention to the result earlier or I would placed a bet for Morocco! How much the odds were when Malawi scored? Morocco is excellent team, and they are doing good in this match but this stunning goal from Ashraf Hakimi is really amazing now we are heading for end of this match, and surely it's going to be won for Morocco now they are going to be in quarter-final where they are going to face team from the Ivory Coast/ Egypt winner. Surely most of the game was dominant by Moroccans as they were good and have some very good quality players into their team Malawi done good in start but sadly after taking early lead they start to play as defense which hurt them very badly, and now they are trailing by 1 goal and now going out of this competition.

Morocco came from behind and won the match. Although they conceded a goal at the first minutes, they remained calm and equlalized at the last minute of the first half. The second goal by Hakimi from an incredible free kick is, imo, the best goal of the tournament! Congratulations to all who betted on Morocco to win.
Ivory Coast/ Egypt is an interesting match to watch too as both are strong teams and are amongst the favourits to win the CAN.

Malawi played very well and good luck for the next, Morocco did great job and to come back after being defeated is very good sign either with Gabon or Malawi. The Moroccans play with determinations and get good result. I think this Morocco game was their best performance so far. It's a balanced team. Kudos to them. I think the Malawian team missed the trick after scoring the goal. I feel like they allowed Morocco back into the game but defending too deep in the last 25 minutes...and everytime they received the ball they booted it away instead of holding the ball to ease the pressure from they Moroccans and take away their attacking momentum.

Despite that, the game ended with 2 goals to 1 Malawi performed beyond expectation and we were able to defend the 1:1 goal line till the last half of the match, but you know in football anything can happen. Just like what we saw in Nigeria in the last match, I would have preferred the match ended in a draw.

I did not watch the match but I think it is indicative how Malawi tried, but the country guessed to win is still the winner which is Morocco. Just that Malawi scored very early at the 7th minute after the start of the match but Morocco equalised that during the first half extra time and scored the second goal at 70th minute. This is still a great winning for Morocco. Just like what we saw in Nigeria in the last match, I would have preferred the match ended in a draw.
The match to end draw, but Nigeria was not capable of that even after wining the three group stage matches. Nigeria played very well before but they had a poor performance in knockout stage.

They will have a difficult further path through the tournament, facing the winner of Ivory Coast/Egeypt in the quarter finals and potentially Cameroon in the semi-finals. However, they could grow into a surprise team in this cup.

Morocco can still continue trying but I do not see or predict the country to win AFCON this year again. Morocco has been one of the best country to be on AFCON since 1970s but the country won only one time before and that was in 1976. The best year Morocco had after the win was only in 2004. Let us see how this will go, but I do not see Morocco going far if we start to count from this round of 16. Though the country won Malawi nicely.

The match to end draw, but Nigeria was not capable of that even after wining the three group stage matches. Nigeria played very well before but they had a poor performance in knockout stage. The approach to the game was incorrect; they were poor from the start; this was not the Nigeria we saw in the group stage; the expectation was high before this game, but the performance was below average; I believe the Tunisia coach deserves some credit for tactically removing Simon, Chikwueze, and Kelechi from the game; he knew these players were the team's powerhouse, and if they were ineffective, the team would suffer. Now I'll have to concentrate my efforts on the Ivory Coast since my second-choice squad, Senegal, is not performing as expected; they are gaining results, but they are not playing well. They are simply fortunate.

Ridiculous safety precautions at AFCON. I know there's been accusations of people not giving AFCON the respect it deserves, but it does make it hard when the officiating as been as bad as it has, and the general treatment of injured players. I'm mainly talking about the Mane incident recently, where he was clearly knocked non conscious, and there didn't seem to be any consideration about removing him from the game. He goes on to score a few minutes later which is a little crazy in itself, but then lies down himself clearly says he can't continue, and the medical staff seem to be up in his face, preventing him from walking off.
I'm just used to strict concussion rules with rugby, but also we've seen this in English football too. If someone has lost consciousness, then a concussion is pretty much a foregone conclusion, and therefore they should be taken off. At the very least, a player should be assessed. An assessment doesn't take a few seconds, it would take a couple of minutes, and you generally have to run several tests, and observe rather than listen to what the player patient is telling you.
Also, what's with the amount of red cards in this competition?

Yea, that's curious. The current competition has 0.21 Red cards per game + 0.1 yellow/red. The previous Africa cup had 0.04/0.06 and the last World cup 0.03/0.03 So currently we are at 3x the amount of red or yellow/red card compared to the last Africa cup and 5x compared to the last World cup

Is not of surprise that Senegal will win cape Verde because i see cape Verde like group of team that qualify with luck in their group, so every one know very well that Senegal, Egypt and Nigeria is the strongest team among the teams that play AFCON cup, so Senegal wining cape Verde is not surprising, the goals of Senegal suppose to be above the score, as the match ended with 2:0 Senegal vs cape Verde, the match was easy to Senegal to defeat.
Senegal started the game with much confidence probably because they had their players returned and were very much complete. I saw how dominating they were through out the game. Besides they have lots of experienced players that plays in big clubs in the top leagues. Senegal have a lot of work to do because that win wasn't a convincing one. Into the match i felt bad with the bad officiating on Cape Verde. it's really embarrassing that the Africa cup of nation has very poor officiating both the referees and VAR are not efficiently making a good way. it's really pains to see how other countries are been mistreated unfairly.

Hakimi scorred an amazing goal from a long distance free kick and morroco than played safely till the end of the match. Today we gonna see a great match of two strong teams Ivory Coast vs Egypt It's really hard to bet on any team to win this one and i wouldn't risk too much on this game.

Today's Ivory Coast - Egypt match is going to be very interesting. The Ivory Coast team seems to be the favorite, but the team in which Mohamed Salah is playing on should definitely never be underestimated. It will definitely be a tight game, so I wonder whether to bet that will a red card be shown also in this match? This is the norm in the recent African Cup of Nations games and the @3.75 odd are encouraging.

Well I didn't watch the senagal match so I had no idea and can't contribution much about the mane situation but probably since he was the best player in their team maybe that's why they refused to sub him and he did score which helped them alot. The situation about the red card is very worrisome. There wasn't much in the group stages but this round of 16 has been something else. Most times I feel the advice from the coaches to the players were to get the legs if they missed the ball because it seems like that's what everyone is doing. Hopefully this get address soon and other stages we get more professional football were we have less cards.

Whoever wins later will face Morocco who managed to beat Malawi with difficulty yesterday, in my opinion the match between Ivory Coast and Egypt is like a final that happened too quickly, both teams have been favorite teams to win the African Cup this year, but unfortunately they have to clash early now to qualify for the quarter-finals, in terms of player quality it looks like Ivory Coast has an advantage in my opinion compared to Egypt which only relies on Salah, so maybe Ivory Coast will be able to beat Egypt with a score of 2-1 in the match later.
