What message are Liverpool and Arsenal sending out when they lost their games one day after Manchester City had an emphatic 5-1 win over Luton Town? What is even more surprising is that both teams were playing their games at home therefore had the backing of home fans. Though Manchester City are now favourites by most to win the title, there are seven games to go and still many things could change.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal were actually disappointing especially Liverpool who out of inconsistency are were they are now, Arsenal did try to make the title a 3 horse race this year after their awful display late last year. While all 3 three teams have had their take on injuries woes this season, we can't necessarily use this as an excuse and we can all somehow agree that this somehow among the worst season Man city has ever experienced under Guardiola. Though still yet no of these teams were able to do anything, now others can call the EPL farmers league since no coach in the EPL can even compete with Pep at his low.

Quote
It is not over yet, the title race is still open. If Manchester City drop points, I am sure Liverpool and/or Arsenal will take an opportunity to close the gap at the top.
True but I can say it's definitely might be over especially for Arsenal because of their next fixtures which include: Chelsea, Man United and Tottenham while Liverpool still has Aston villa and Tottenham and Man city still have Tottenham as a big team to face.

Though we can't ignore the fact that lower team can actually still cause trouble to these teams like we saw in the Liverpool vs crystal palace match especially in season ending when there are fight against being relegated.

These are all of the results since my last post:

Monday 15th April
Chelsea 6-0 Everton
This was my favorite match especially as a Chelsea fan, it's been long I got this kind of joy from a game, actually what excite me more was not the win but from the fact that we finally have a player who scored up 20 goals in the EPL after Diego Costa. I thank God for this even if it is the only achievable thing Chelsea can get this year I will be satisfied since I don't have much hope on Chelsea this season especially since Poch is still the coach

Well, for neutrals the best thing that could happen (in order to keep the excitement factor going) is for Manchester City to drop points in their next game and for Liverpool and Arsenal to win their games. It would an anti-climax to the end of the season if any one team broke free and raced to the title without being chased.

There are still a lot of points to be won and lost both at the top and bottom of the Premier League table.

I would love to see that scenario. Especially if the champion is decided by the final week matches it would be very exciting to watch all the crucial matches. It is really boring to see the title competition ending early truthfully - especially if the team end it is Manchester City.  Grin  For now it looks like it is even very difficult for other teams to become champions that dominantly.

Because Guardiola's team always find a way to collect themselves and rejoin the title competition. I remember even a season in which Manchester City started horrible but won the title anyway by a serious gap.

Having a winner manager is a really great privilege.  Smiley  But I wonder would Guardiola still be successful if he managed a lower tier team?

I doubt it. The truth is he is a brilliant manager but we have to be honest, he has unlimited funds from a nation state to back him and he can buy any player he wants. The other side of the truth is, without those players and without unlimited funds I think he will be exposed as being just an average manager.

What Klopp and Guardiola have done over the past 5-6 years (by making the Premier League exciting) is worthy of credit. I am glad Emery has started the same exciting style of football at Aston Villa.

But I wonder would Guardiola still be successful if he managed a lower tier team?

These are the Premier League games taking Saturday 20th April:

Luton Town vs Brentford
Sheffield United vs Burnley
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Arsenal

I think it is fair to say that if Arsenal drop points today and also against Chelsea on Tuesday, they can wave goodbye to any slim hopes they have of trying to win the Premier League. At the bottom, Luton Town,Burnley and even Brentford need points for their cause to stay in the Premier League.

I also feel like that about Guardiola, yeah. He really needs to manage a rich team which can give big opportunities to him for building a powerful squad. If he works for a team which can't give him a big budget to make his dream come true then I guess the result wouldn't be much positive.

When it comes to Emery he is definitely a special manager. Wherever he goes he does a great work. His career is filled with impressive achievements.  Smiley

He has been especially good at managing teams which have 'Villa' in their names.  Tongue

As for today's matches, be on the look out for Fulham.  Double chance at 2.25, draw no bet at 3.30 vs LFC.  I feel like Marco Silva could out fox Klopp in this spot.  NFA.

There is one Premier League game taking place this evening Tuesday 23rd April:

Arsenal vs Chelsea

This game is going to be difficult to select a winner from. Arsenal are desperate for the points to keep momentum at the tip of the table. Arsenal are currently  on top of the table by virtue of goal difference. Chelsea would love to scupper any chance of Arsenal winning the title therefore this is probably going to be a very close game.

These were the latest results that were not updated in the thread:

Sunday 21st April
Everton 2-0 Nottingham Forest
Aston Villa 3-1 Bournemouth
Crystal Palace 5-2 West Ham United
Fulham 1-3 Liverpool

Saturday 20th April
Luton Town 1-5 Brentford
Sheffield United 1-4 Burnley
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-2 Arsenal

It sounds like you're describing a thrilling race for top spot in the Premier League standings, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool neck and neck for the title. Even though the results are still uncertain, the strong performance of each team adds to the excitement of this season. Your personal preference is for Manchester City to emerge victorious. Let's see how the rest of the season goes!

Of course, I agree. I wouldn't like to be understood like I underestimate Guardiola. Because even if you have a big budget to use success isn't guaranteed.  Smiley  There have been so many examples of it until this point. PSG could also be given as a good team example for this topic. PSG is very rich. However there have been many managers coming and going but still no Champions League title.

There is a clear fact that Guardiola is very good at managing a big budget efficiently and building a strong system with great players.

Apart from Manchester City he has achieved really good successes with Barcelona and Bayern Munich also.  Smiley

RESULT:

Arsenal 5-0 Chelsea

Arsenal had an emphatic win over Chelsea and it was unexpected. Though many neutrals and fans would have expected Arsenal to win the game, the score line was a complete shock. What cannot be understated is the goal difference and how it could impact the standings at the end of the season. Arsenal have played a game more than second placed Liverpool and are three points ahead but have a massive +13 goal difference.

These are the games taking place this evening Wednesday 24th April:

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Bournemouth
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United
Everton vs Liverpool
Manchester United vs Sheffield United

Arsenal dominated the whole match. Chelsea found really few chances and wasted them also.  Sad  People must have witnessed once again that Chelsea aren't able to do anything without Palmer. They couldn't answer Arsenal in any way for example. The second half was insane. Goals poured like rain!

Odegaard - Havertz - Ben White were such a lovely trio to just sit and watch their game here.  Smiley

Jackson is horrible! It is like he has lost his talent since he signed for Chelsea. He is terrible at finishing and the example below is a great proof for that. He could have simply scored by targeting the right corner but instead...

^  But that doesn't really say much.  To win, any manager will def need a lot of money to get the players he wants and build a team that gels together.  But here's a question tho, would somebody like Ten Hag get the same results as Guardiola if he was given the same transfer budget every year?  Would Mourinho?  There's a difference imho.

Nobody can't take away greatness from Guardiola by saying 'oh hey he was given a huge transfer budget.'.  I mean come on.  Lmao.

As for today's matches, be on the look out for Fulham.  Double chance at 2.25, draw no bet at 3.30 vs LFC.  I feel like Marco Silva could out fox Klopp in this spot.  NFA.

Smiley

Yeah, that's why I don't get why some people say he's good just because he has a huge transfer budget at every club he goes to.  It's more complicated that that.  I mean yeah the transfer budgetnhelps but it doesn't mean he sucks as a manager.  If anything, managing all those talented players and having them gel together could be harder too.  :/

But yeah...  Brighton vs Man City next.  I have a weird feeling for City in this spot.  Brighton ain't no slouch at home.  They only lost twice this seasoh.

Wolverhampton failed to win at home against Bournemouth. We know they have struggled to get a win in recent weeks. Neither of the 2 teams have any goals left in the league and therefore this game is not very important for both sides. It would have been better for Wolverhampton if they had won this game because they have been without a win for 5 weeks and with this defeat that has increased to 6 weeks. They should at least win at home to keep their fans happy.

But this not about goal to pour like a rain only. Arsenal gave way to Manchester City to be at the top. Although Manchester City is at number 3 now but it has 2 matches to play which are awaiting matches. If Manchester City won both, it will top the league again. Arsenal disappointed us when it supposed not to. I wish Arsenal to win the League which will make it more competitive than just Manchester City winning it almost everytime.

These are the results from the games played yesterday:

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-1 Bournemouth
Crystal Palace 2-0 Newcastle United
Everton 2-0 Liverpool
Manchester United 4-2 Sheffield United

What was the bigger shock, Everton winning the Merseyside derby with a big win over Liverpool or Bruno Fernandes scoring a brilliant goal from outside the box with his left foot?

I think Liverpool cannot be counted out of the title race but they are three points behind leaders Arsenal with equal games played. Manchester City have played two games less but are only four points behind. Any of those three teams could still win the title.

Real Madrid has won Manchester City in Champions League, this will make the club to concentrate more on EPL. The toughest match I see that can be played with its opponents is the last match which is with Tottenham. If Arsenal is able to rival Manchester City to last match, Manchester City will use all their strength to make sure they win Tottenham. Although it is a home match for Tottenham but I guess that Manchester City may win EPL again which is this season. Anything can still happen but this is my guess. I know that Liverpool will not win, it may likely be in the third position.

I agree with that. Arsenal played really poorly against Aston Villa and lost badly at Emirates. This opened the way for Manchester City wide open to take the lead.  Sad  Believe me, I also want to see a different champion a lot. Manchester City have been dominating the league for many years. Only Liverpool managed to break the series once and that's all.

If Manchester City continue like that I think it shouldn't be questioned why people are talking about the PL like a "farmers league".

By the way I have heard Manchester City are planning to extend Guardiola's contract by another year. It will be until 2026 then. I wonder how much longer Guardiola plans to stay while he is finishing his 8th year there.

This was the result of the only Premier League game that took place yesterday Thursday 25th April:

Brighton and Hove Albion 0-4 Manchester City

Manchester City and Arsenal are breaking away from Liverpool as the gap is growing at the top if the table. If Liverpool drop points in their next game they will have to concede any hopes they have of winning the title in the same season Klopp (and probably Salah) will depart. Manchester City and Arsenal show no sign of slowing down but it is still not clear which team will win be crowned champions at the end of the season.

I know that Liverpool will not win, it may likely be in the third position.
There is a long way to go, nothing is guaranteed just yet  Grin
