^  I'm amazed to see what Unai Emery has done for Aston Villa because it was what he was hired and set out to do at Arsenal but was not able to do it over there.  With Aston Villa, he went in there with totally no expectations that they will be at the top 4 by Boxing Day.  Lol.  Maybe not 'totally no expectations' but I'm pretty sure it was very low at the start of the season.

But it did help them get to where they are due to Chelsea and Man United's underperformance in the league.  Newcastle too, considering how much was spent on transfers.

Anyway, hilarious match of the weekend:  West Ham vs Man United.    Could see this ending with 2 - 1 or a 1 - 0 score line.  The genius Moyes will never forget.

I have to agree about Emery, just look at what effect it can have on an average team in the Premier League if they have a manager with years of experience and a mentality to win European trophies. Compared to what Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea spend on players on a regular transfer window, Emery has been brilliant in his job as Aston Villa manager on a smaller budget.

As for West Ham vs Manchester United, I am expecting West Ham to win the game. Their manager David Moyes will be looking forward to this game as he was sacked from his position as Manchester United manager after just 10 months. The bookies have to favour a West Ham win because Manchester United are playing atrocious football.

I wondered why it did not work out for Emery while he managed Arsenal, somehow the fans did not take to him and maybe some players thought they were bigger than the manager but just look at the way he has elevated Aston Villa to a new level. He is an excellent manager with a wealth of experience behind him. It would be a fitting tribute if he were to win manager of the season when the Premier League ends for the 2023/24 season.

As for Manchester United, you are right, the players continue to get paid while they continue to underperform and the manager (Ten Hag) will not be sacked. They have themselves to blame for their demise. I think West Ham will win the game and Moyes will enjoy it because of the way he was sacked by Manchester United all those years ago after being in the job for just 10 months.

Loool nooo not Emery.  Please leave the guy alone and not let him get near any EPL club that's named Man United and Chelsea.  There's really something wrong going on in the back room of those two clubs.  It's almost like they're cursed.  It's like Liverpool, even they had to go through a lot of sht after Fenway Sports Group took over the reigns.  And FSG knows how to manage sports franchises as they have shown in their success with the Boston Red Sox.

And what United really needs is a manager that could rebuild the club.  They don't need somebody to get them back to title contention.

Chelsea just cannot string two wins together and the same for Manchester United. Congratulations to Luton Town on beating Newcastle United on their return to the Premier League.

While Liverpool and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw, it was Tottenham that took three points to close the gap at the top of the table as they beat Everton.

You can add Manchester City to that list too and with the previous bad run suffered by Tottenham before they picked up points again, they can be added too because that is how unpredictable the season has been.

Will Luton Town take at least a point at Sheffield United, I would go for a draw. I think Aston Villa should win the game because Manchester United under current form can be beaten by any team and Aston Villa are playing excellent. Nottingham Forest could hold out of a draw away at Newcastle United. You would expect Liverpool to beat Burnley.

As for Man City, yeah...  Getting into top 4 is more competitive this season with Tottenham and Aston Villa vying for spots than last season with Man United and Newcasle vying for top 4 imho.  But we'll see.  If City could keep it close from the top, they could still get back in form and snag another one.

Nottingham Forest is already thrashing them from a goal down, and it's only 60' minutes more 30mis to wreak havoc, and to think it's Newcastle United's (if they lose) 4th loss from 5 league games is insane, they had one of the solid defences earlier this season, but now they are just as porous and bad as Chelsea's defence.

What's the excuse now? Shar, Burn and Botman are all back from injury.

Another game to drop some mBTC on is Luton against Sheffield united @3.0 Odd.

Chelsea should get past Crystal Palace. Brentford and Wolves should end up with a point each.

I think Manchester City no longer scare teams as you used to in the past therefore Everton will go out fighting and will get something from the game. Though not impossible to get all three points, they could at the very least get a point from a draw.

When Howe took over the reigns at Newcastle United, I expected a much bigger name because it was after the Saudi Investment Fund purchased the club. Howe however managed to get them to safety and then took then on a run to the Champions League by finishing 4th last season. Now if the results are going against them it really should not bring the question of Howe losing his job. He should definitely not be sacked and should be given a couple of years to try to make the club stable.

At the end of the first half it seemed they would another game but the way they attacked Aston Villa throughout the second half and the way they defended as a team was good to watch. The players went out there to fight for themselves and their manager Ten Hag. The fans in the stadium were ecstatic watching the game especially Garnacho, he is absolutely brilliant for a 19 year old. Within the next two years he will be scoring 15 goals per season and the club will receive record offers from Real Madrid to sell him.

Can you post where you got the rumor from?  I think it's too early to start thinking about giving Eddie Howe the sack imho.  And if it's the match vs Nottingham Forest that caused the oilers to think about getting rid of him then they should think again.  Newcastle is mired with injuries and if anything they should be giving their manager a big transfer budget for the January transfer window!

And their still rebuilding the club after decades of nothing.  Finishing top 4 in the league and getting in the CL is quite a feat considering with the players they have.

Newcastle have to be happy just for being away from the relegation zone.

If Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa continue to play the way have been, both Newcastle and Manchester United will fail to reach a top four finish and will miss out on Champions League football next season.

Though Brighton and West Ham United won the games in shock results, the biggest winners on the night were Manchester City and Liverpool because they won their games whilst Tottenham and Arsenal dropped them. Arsenal could have returned to the top of the table if they had won what should have been a relatively easy home game against West Ham but Moyes and his team had other ideas.

As for Brighton, they seem to be getting their act together again but Tottenham need to start winning consistently if they are to keep up with an aim to finish the season in the top four.

It's not that they just have to be happy that they got top 4 last season and be ok with what's currently going on at this season.  It's that if the oilers really wanted Howe to acheive more than they have last season then it's time to bring out the check book because they other top clubs are spending during transfer windows to bolster their own squads.  It will be so short sighted to expect the same results without making any real improvements.

Now at the next summer transfer window it would be harder for them to acquire better players because they wouldn't have the CL to dangle in front of their prospective sign ups.  :/
